Kabutops, the Shellfish Pokémon, is a Fossil Pokémon hailed as one of the oldest species in the world. Its first form, Kabuto, is said to have appeared over 300 million years ago. Through years of evolution, Kabuto gradually attempted to transition from an aquatic life to a terrestrial one.
It grew legs and two pairs of sharp scythes.
But unfortunately, before Kabutops could fully evolve into a land creature, it went extinct two million years ago.
It was only two hundred years ago that a group of foreign researchers managed to revive this creature by extracting DNA from fossils.
However, the research results back then were immature, plagued by issues like infertility, short lifespans, and limited potential.
But with the developnt of the tis, fossil revival technology has gradually been perfected in recent years.
This guy was quite a decent physical attacker in the rain.
Director He must not have revealed Beedrill's true combat strength.
Otherwise, Marina wouldn't be using a level 83 Kabutops to battle; she should have sent out her Champion-level Poliwrath instead.
Against just a Kabutops, using Overdrive Mode would be overkill.

Kabutops let out a sharp cry. The next mont, its entire body was enveloped in water. While dancing with its scythes, it transford into a pillar of water and charged at Beedrill.

Completing Swords Dance before the Liquidation hit not only boosted its Attack but also enhanced the power of Liquidation. It was an incredibly practical combination move.
It was also the signature move of Marina's Kabutops.
Its learning difficulty was extrely high, and the ti required to master it was often asured in years.

Having so understanding of Marina, Kenji naturally knew the way to counter this move: break it with brute force, interrupting Kabutops before it could complete the Swords Dance.
As Kenji's voice fell, Beedrill transford into an afterimage, charging straight at Kabutops.

X-Scissor clashed with Aqua Dance Break. In just an instant, the water curtain was shattered by Beedrill's crossed stingers, revealing the Kabutops behind it, which had not yet completed its Swords Dance.

With a sound of rushing air, the airborne Kabutops was sent flying backward, crashing back onto the ground.
"KABU!!!—"
Kabutops grimaced in pain, using its scythes to support itself on the ground as it shakily pushed its fallen body up.
"What!!" Marina was shocked and couldn't help but cry out.
"Pin Missile!!"
Giving Kabutops no chance to catch its breath, Beedrill arched its body slightly. The stinger on its abdon instantly locked onto Kabutops. As a white light flared at the tip, a dense barrage of needle-like missiles rained down on the Kabutops below.
"Aqua Jet! Dodge!!"
The Kabutops, having just gotten up, was once again covered in a layer of water, transforming into a jet of water as it sped away.
But Beedrill's Pin Missile barrage was dense and wide. Before Kabutops could even get a few ters away, the missiles landed.
The tiny needles ford of Bug-type energy easily pierced through the water curtain, stabbing into Kabutops's body beneath.
A sound like tal clashing rang out in the arena as the needles struck Kabutops's hard shell, causing it to cry out in pain again.
"Dig!"
Kabutops turned sharply, diving straight into the ground beneath it, breaking open a hole and burrowing underground.
"Chase it inside!"
Hearing Kenji's command, Beedrill didn't hesitate. It followed closely behind, diving into the hole as well.
"BOOM!!!—"
The ground exploded, and Kabutops's body burst from the earth, blasted out by force.
Beedrill followed closely, flying out of the hole.
Kabutops lay on the ground, unconscious.
"Kabutops is unable to battle! Beedrill wins the match! The winner of this battle is... Kenji!!"
Wesley raised the green flag in his hand, announcing the end of the match.
"Thank you for the match, Gym Leader Marina."
Marina recalled Kabutops, and Kenji recalled Beedrill.
"I didn't go easy on you," Marina said grumpily, though she secretly added 'little monster' in her mind.
"If Gym Leader Marina had sent out her ace, Poliwrath, I definitely wouldn't have been a match for you," Kenji said, sounding half humble and half consoling.
In his heart, however, he mused, Actually, it might not be unwinnable.
If we really fought, it's hard to say who would win or lose.
Marina laughed dryly, clearly not comforted by Kenji's words.
Fighting a college freshman who wasn't even twenty yet and having to send out her ace? If word got out, she'd be a laughingstock.
If she knew Kenji's inner thoughts right now, she'd probably cough up blood in anger.
"A bet is a bet. I can take you with , but... my agreent alone isn't enough. Anything involving a Legendary Pokémon is no child's play. You'd best clear it with Old He first," Marina said slowly.
Kenji was a golden goose for tropolis Academy; they were counting on him to lead them back to the top. If she took him on an unauthorized mission and sothing happened to him, the academy would be out for her blood.
Kenji wasn't stupid. He understood Marina's aning: she was setting up a liability waiver for herself.
"Rest assured, Gym Leader Marina. I will take responsibility for all my actions. I won't drag you down."
