Both sides raised their Pokéballs simultaneously, and two beams of red light shot out.
In front of Kenji, Slaking appeared. It maintained its familiar, lazy posture of half-lying on the ground. After its debut, it sluggishly climbed to its feet, arms hanging low, its dead-fish eyes staring indifferently at the opponent.
On the other side, Zephyr chose to lead with his ace, Sceptile.
However, this ti, Zephyr did not choose to ga Evolve imdiately upon entry!
As the Pokémon took the field, neither side chose to strike instantly. Instead, they watched each other warily.

Slaking's fist slamd down onto Sceptile, but Sceptile's body simply burst apart.

Like Protect, Substitute was a versatile move that the vast majority of Pokémon could master through learning.
After using Substitute to evade Slaking's Fire Punch, Sceptile swung its arms, launching several leaves flashing with a strange light.
And on those leaves, a dangerous purple glow shimred.
Toxic had been applied to these leaves!

After throwing the punch, restricted by its ability, Slaking stopped moving.
The Magical Leaves hit Slaking squarely.

Electivire slamd a fist into Torterra. The super-effective Fire Punch landed with great force.
As the Fire Punch hit, Torterra took the opportunity to swallow the accumulated energy in its mouth.
