Just as Scizor was about to complete its Agility boost, Kenji finally gave a command.

Ninetales's real body appeared again. Its ruby-red eyes flashed ominously.
In the next instant, raging flas erupted all over Scizor's body.
"Haqia!!! —"
Scizor groaned in agony. The ruthless flas of jealousy scorched its body, heating its tal exoskeleton to the point where it showed signs of lting.
"Scizor! Baton Pass! —"
"Haqia!!! —"
Enduring the searing pain, Scizor let out a pained roar.
A red glow covered its crimson body.
Baton Pass was about to succeed.
But at that exact mont, Ninetales, who had been tens of ters away, vanished and reappeared right in front of Scizor.
Its mouth was already open, flas roaring inside.
A pillar of fire shot out at point-blank range.
BOOM!!! —
"Haqia!!! —"
Flathrower connected. The blast sent Scizor flying backward.
The red glow of Baton Pass dissipated.
The switch failed. Scizor lay on the ground, clearly unable to battle. Its tal armor was soft and warped, radiating intense heat and steaming profusely.
"Scizor is unable to battle! Ninetales wins the round!!"
With three Pokémon down (including the switched-out Araquanid which counts as a loss in this context or maybe just Scizor faint -> 2 down, Araquanid fainted -> 3 down total?), Hua Mingyan only had her final Pokémon left.
Kenji, on the other hand, had won two rounds effortlessly. His Pokémon hadn't even taken a scratch.
This completely crushed any thought Hua Mingyan had of holding back.
If she sent out another Elite-level Pokémon, even her main team mbers probably wouldn't stand a chance against Kenji's Ninetales and Arbok.
"Go! Volcarona!!"
Finally, Hua Mingyan threw a Luxury Ball.

A beam of red light shot onto the battlefield, revealing the Sun Pokémon.

This wasn't Kenji's first ti facing a Volcarona. Zephyr had used one in the National League.

Volcarona cried out to the sky. It seed to revel in the Sunny Day weather left by Ninetales. Its six wings trembled slightly, scattering fiery scales into the air.
The scales ignited, surrounding Volcarona in a wreath of flas, making it look truly like the God of Fire depicted in ancient murals—an avatar of the sun.
"Return, Ninetales."
Kenji recalled Ninetales.
His Ninetales had easily defeated Scizor because of the 4x type advantage and the opponent's failure to see through the illusion.
Against other Elite-level Pokémon, it might not have been such a clean sweep.
But against a Champion-level Volcarona, Ninetales had zero chance of winning.
He's going to send out his ace, Beedrill, now, right? Hua Mingyan thought as she watched Kenji.
However, to her surprise, Kenji's hand went to a familiar Poké Ball at his waist.
"Go! Arbok!!"

Arbok flew onto the field once again.

Volcarona stared down at Arbok with its compound eyes, flas raging around it like a high-and-mighty sun god.
"Chaa!!! —"
Arbok was proud. Even facing the pressure of a Champion-level mon, it didn't retreat a single step.
It raised its upper body, and the pattern on its chest shifted again.
This ti, it was the Dragon Might Pattern!!
Arbok let out a low growl. The pattern on its chest morphed into the shape of a dragon's head. As the empty eyes of the dragon pattern lit up with a crimson glow...
A terrifying Dragon Aura exploded from Arbok's body. In an instant, it pushed back against Volcarona's pressure, engaging it in an invisible clash of wills.

She had noticed the changing patterns on Arbok's chest during the fight with Araquanid.
But now, the pattern had changed again, and this "Dragon Head" pattern was emitting an aura that rivaled her Champion-level Volcarona.

Without maxing out its buffs, Arbok had no right to even exchange blows with Volcarona.
