The parchnt scroll was more than just a ticket to enter the Qi Clan's hidden sanctuary in the desert; it was also a map.
The three great guardian clans of Huaxia—the Dragon Clan of Dragon Island, the Tyranitar Clan of the desert, and the Zhurong Clan of the volcanoes—had always been mysterious. They lived in seclusion and rarely interacted with outsiders.
Flying over Shabian City, Kenji looked down from the sky.
Although Shabian City was a desert-border city, its color palette wasn't a monotonous sandy yellow. On the contrary, the city's greening efforts were excellent, with lush rows of trees visible everywhere.
But just beyond the city limits lay a vast, endless expanse of desert.
That was one of Huaxia's largest deserts, and Kenji's destination.
After landing, Kenji checked the instructions on the parchnt.
Step one: Travel to Shabian City.
Step two: Find a travel agency in the city called the Moge Travel Group.
Hand the parchnt to them, and they would guide him to the Tyranitar Guardian Clan.
Since Shabian City was on the edge of the desert, many tourists ca here to visit the dunes.
Consequently, there were many travel agencies in the city. The Moge Travel Group was one of the largest and most famous among them.
Wearing his sunglasses, Kenji walked out of the airport and took a taxi straight to the Moge headquarters.
Arriving at the headquarters, a pretty receptionist greeted him.
"Hello, welco to Moge Travel Group. How can I help you?" she asked softly.
Kenji didn't take out the parchnt imdiately. Instead, he said, "Hello. I'm looking for Qi Ping."
Qi Ping.
The receptionist paused for a mont, thinking.
Then, realization dawned on her face.
Qi Ping was an old-tir at Moge Travel. He had been there since before she started. He mostly did odd jobs and repairs around the office.
Although he didn't seem to have a formal role, his status within the company was surprisingly high. He even had his own private lounge where he spent most of his ti drinking tea.
The receptionist pointed Kenji toward the lounge.
Kenji thanked her and headed in that direction.
Soon, he arrived at a door. Checking the room number to confirm, he knocked.
Knock knock knock...
Movent sounded from inside.
Click.
The door opened, and a middle-aged man poked his head out.
"What do you want?" Qi Ping asked, squinting his eyes.
Kenji didn't waste words. He shoved the parchnt scroll right in front of Qi Ping's face.
Qi Ping glanced at it, and his expression froze instantly. His squinted eyes snapped wide open.
"This... please, co in." Qi Ping pulled the door wide open, inviting Kenji inside.
Kenji walked in and scanned the room. It wasn't large, but it was tastefully decorated.
He sat down on the sofa. Qi Ping imdiately asked for the parchnt, seemingly needing to verify its authenticity—to confirm it truly ca from the Qi Clan.
Kenji handed it over.
Qi Ping unfurled it, examining it ticulously. Finally, his expression turned solemn as he handed it back. "Welco, honored guest from afar."
"Moge Travel Group is a small enterprise run by the Qi Clan in Shabian City. Usually, we organize tours for regular tourists. My main responsibility here is to guide the Qi Clan's honored guests to the main family," Qi Ping explained.
"When can we leave?" Kenji asked.
"Anyti," Qi Ping replied.
Kenji asked how long the journey would take.
Qi Ping explained that the Qi Clan was located deep in the desert. If they left now, they wouldn't arrive until late at night.
Kenji decided to set the departure ti for early the next morning. He had been traveling non-stop since the Team Rocket raid—from the border to Spring City, then flying to Shabian City, then taking a taxi here. He was exhausted.
With the schedule set, Kenji went to the local Pokémon Center to rest for the night.
...
The next day, Kenji arrived at Moge Travel Group on ti. Qi Ping had been ready for a while. He drove Kenji out of the city and toward the desert.
They left early. By the ti they reached the edge of the desert, the sun was just rising, bathing the dunes in brilliant gold.
Golden sand filled the air. In the boundless desert with no cover, the wind howled freely. Even a slight breeze could whip up a sandstorm.
Sand grains hit Kenji's clothes with a pitter-patter sound, like rain on an umbrella.
Before entering the desert, Qi Ping gave Kenji a pair of windproof goggles and advised him to wrap up tightly.
"Co out!! Krookodile!!"
Qi Ping threw a Poké Ball. It released a red, bipedal crocodile Pokémon.
The Ground/Dark type Krookodile.
Upon landing, Krookodile imdiately dropped to all fours, lying flat on the sand.
Qi Ping climbed onto its back first, then signaled for Kenji to get on behind him.
Kenji mounted the crocodile. Qi Ping told him to hold on tight. Then, Krookodile moved. It dug its claws into the sand and pushed with its powerful hind legs, "swimming" across the dunes with incredible speed.
Qi Ping sat in front, guiding Krookodile. Kenji looked around in confusion, wondering how Qi Ping could possibly navigate in this endless sea of sand with zero landmarks.
They twisted and turned through the vast desert. All Kenji could see were sand dunes.
Of course, besides dunes, Kenji spotted many desert-dwelling Pokémon along the way.
Sandshrew and Sandile were the most common. Occasionally, he saw herds of Nul or swarms of Vibrava.
Hippopotas lazily sunbathed on the dunes.
Mudbray ran across the sand, fleeing from predators.
In the monotonous landscape, Kenji's sense of ti began to blur.
He only knew the sun was getting hotter and hotter.
Just as the sun reached its peak and began its descent, the scenery finally changed.
Patches of green began to appear.
Vegetation beca more frequent. Although the dominant color was still the heavy yellow of sand, it was no longer so desolate.
When the silhouette of the legendary Tyranitar Temple—worshiped by the Qi Clan for generations—erged from the sands, Kenji knew he had arrived.
The Tyranitar Temple had a history spanning over a thousand years, guarded and worshiped since the founding of Huaxia.
"Bangira" was the ancient Huaxia na for Tyranitar.
It was said that the strongest Tyranitar in the world resided within this temple.
To be crowned "The Strongest," that Tyranitar's level must surely be Master-rank.
