ga Gallade let out a cry of pain. The mont its elbow-blades touched the violet flas, it retracted them with frantic speed.
Gallade used its montum to leap back, putting significant distance between itself and the hellhound.
But it was too late. On the sharp edges of its blades, the purple fire clung like a living parasite—an "attached curse" that refused to be shaken off.
"Ai-qia!!! —"
ga Gallade hissed in agony, clashing its blades together in a desperate attempt to spark the fire away or snuff it out.
It was a futile effort. The Abyssal flas remained, eating into the psychic energy of the blades.

Li Xisheng frowned. This was the true terror of a Pokémon blessed by the Sacred Fla. The fire wasn't just heat; it possessed a "sticky" property. If even a spark touched you, it would burn until you were ash. It was a hard counter to close-combat fighters like ga Gallade.
ga Houndoom didn't wait for its opponent to recover. It opened its mouth and launched a Flathrower.
Facing the pillar of violet fire, ga Gallade used Teleport again, vanishing just before the heat could singe its cape.

That was Li Xisheng's first reaction. ga Houndoom's burst speed was incredible. In the millisecond ga Gallade swung its blade, the hound had already vacated the space. The Aqua Cutter hit only empty air.
Before ga Gallade could disengage, the charging hound skidded to a halt and whipped its head around, letting out a resonant roar.

As ga Houndoom roared, a circle of massive, pillars of purple fire erupted from the ground surrounding ga Gallade, trapping it in a fiery cage.
Infernal Abyss!!! —
A high-tier Fire move that traps the opponent in a ring of flas. Base Power: 100. It carried a 100% chance to burn the target.
In the official Pokédex, this move's accuracy was listed as a ager 50, primarily because the setup ti was too long, allowing any agile opponent to escape.
But ga Houndoom had just completed the cast in a literal heartbeat. It hadn't given ga Gallade any ti to react.
The purple flas began to contract, closing in on ga Gallade from all directions.
ga Gallade prepared to Teleport out of the trap, but ga Houndoom let out another bark—this one infused with a jarring Dark energy.

The psychic frequency of the Taunt hit ga Gallade like a physical blow, short-circuiting its ability to use non-damaging moves. The Teleport failed mid-cast.
Trapped and unable to use Protect or Teleport, ga Gallade was forced to fight its way out.
It spun like a top, its elbow-blades glowing with water energy as it lashed out in every direction.

But against the overwhelming tide of violet fire, the thin blades of water were like a mantis trying to stop a tidal wave.

The Infernal Abyss collapsed inward. ga Gallade let out a scream of absolute agony. With a heavy THUD, it was driven to its knees.
The purple fire clung to its body, wrapping it in a shroud of burning shadows.
"Gallade!! Life Dew, now!!"
The Taunt had finally worn off, and Li Xisheng pinned his last hopes on the healing move. He needed to douse the flas and heal the damage before his Ace was consud.
