Kenji was taken aback by the sudden display of humility. He took two quick steps back, blinking in surprise.
Xun straightened up, his expression serious. "I want to apologize. I was arrogant and hostile toward you for no reason. You are strong—Uncle Yun was right. I am truly no match for you."
Kenji realized Xun was here for a genuine reconciliation. He rembered feeling a similar way back in his old life—that annoying "perfect student" your mother always compared you to. He offered a shrug and a casual smile. "It's fine, really. No need to make a big deal out of it."
Xun let out a long breath. "For years, I lived in a bubble. Ever since I was chosen by Ho-Oh, my life was nothing but training, training, and more training. I was raised with a single goal: to replace my uncle as the Champion.

He paused, then added with a smirk, "Don't you dare get knocked down once and then stay on the ground. I'm counting on you to take the seat from in a few years so I can retire early."
Kenji was serious. He had no intention of being the Huaxia League Champion for decades. The responsibility was a heavy burden, and Kenji preferred a life of freedom and adventure over etings and bureaucracy.
