Kenji looked down at the ga Stone Matsuma was offering him, his brow furrowing

into a deep scowl. "Is this your 'grand gift'?"

Seeing Kenji's blatant rejection, Matsuma rely offered a thin, calm smile.

"Think of it as a crucial part of the gift. As you've seen, this isn't a

standard ga Stone. This is a prototype I've spent decades refining through a

series of... intensive experintal modifications."

"To create just this one stone, we had to sacrifice over a dozen standard

Beedrillites. The failure rate was quite high," Matsuma said, his tone carrying

a faint, nostalgic sigh.

Kenji's heart skipped a beat.

Over a dozen Beedrillites??!

In the current market, a single Beedrillite was worth a fortune. To treat them

like disposable lab components was a level of wealth and obsession that made

even the Zhurong clan look poor.

Matsuma seed to enjoy Kenji's shock. He continued his pitch. "This modified

stone is infused with the essence of the legendary God of Destruction, Yveltal.

Compared to a standard ga Evolution, the power boost it grants a Pokémon is...

well, you felt it. It is on a completely different plane of reality."

He gestured toward his own partner. "If we had continued the duel just now, I am

entirely confident that my Beedrill would have erged as the victor."

Kenji didn't argue. He had felt the crushing, cold weight of that dark energy.

Matsuma had indeed used the power of the "Y-Deity" to warp the boundaries of

ga Evolution. And if Matsuma's Beedrill had a hidden trump card fueled by that

power, the outco of their duel was indeed uncertain.

"And the price?" Kenji asked, still refusing to reach for the stone. "Power like

that doesn't co for free. What are the side effects?"

Matsuma nodded, showing no intent to hide the truth. "The cost... is present, of

course. In the earlier stages of developnt, the failed stones would instantly

drain the user's life force the mont the link was established. Pokémon and

trainers were turned into cold, grey statues in seconds—husks of drained

energy."

He paused for a beat. "But you can rest easy. This is the finalized version. The

side effects have been mitigated to a negligible level. It will only slightly

reduce the Pokémon's total lifespan with each use."

Kenji's eyes flared with anger. Matsuma said it so casually, as if a Pokémon's

life was just another number on a spreadsheet.

ga Evolution was a bond of hearts. Those trainers and Pokémon who had died in

those experints must have trusted their leaders, only to be used as fuel for a

madman's ambition. To imagine a trainer watching their partner turn into stone

and blow away in the wind... it made Kenji's blood boil.

Then, he rembered the rewards list for the Battle Tower.

One of the prizes for the top floors was a ga Stone.

A cold shiver raced through Kenji's body. He realized now that the Battle Tower

wasn't just a place for training; it was a recruitnt and testing ground. How

many "winners" had been handed these cursed stones, becoming unwitting test

subjects for Team Rocket?

WHACK!!! —

Kenji lashed out, his palm striking the stone in Matsuma's hand. He sent the

artifact spinning across the room, where it hit the floor with a tallic clink.

"Keep your trash," Kenji said, his voice dropping into a lethal, icy register.

"Neither I nor my Beedrill have any interest in power built on corpses."

"SIII!!!! —"

Behind them, Matsuma's Beedrill reacted instantly. Its crimson eyes flared with

a sudden, sharp murderous intent as it locked onto Kenji.

Sensing the threat to its trainer, Kenji's partner didn't hesitate. It settled

into a low combat stance, its lances vibrating at a frequency that humd with a

warning of death.

The atmosphere in the room turned brittle, the tension reaching a snapping

point. But Matsuma rely raised a hand, making a small pressing motion toward

his partner, signaling it to stand down.

He didn't look at Kenji with anger. He slowly bent over, picked up the stone

from the floor, and offered it to the boy once more.

"Take it, Kenji. Your Beedrill is strong—the strongest I've ever seen—but I am

telling you now: wtwo's true power is beyond your imagination."

"I can guarantee you that with your current strength, you cannot win. wtwo is

no longer a Pokémon; it is a force of nature that we barely managed to contain

with our most advanced tech."

"This stone... is your only real chance of surviving when you et it again."

Matsuma's voice was calm and steady. He turned his gaze to Kenji's partner.

"You've traded blows with wtwo before. You felt it, didn't you? Even

restricted by our armor, it was a god. Imagine it now, with its mind free and

its power unchained."

"If you don't want your trainer—and millions of innocent lives—to be erased by

that creature's whims, you would be wise to accept this 'trash.'"

Kenji's Beedrill remained silent, its gaze shifting between the stone and its

master.

Kenji didn't waver. "I don't need it. I believe in my partner. We will reach the

peak on our own terms."

Beedrill was currently Level 98. Once it hit the ceiling of Level 100, its

strength would undergo another qualitative shift. Kenji refused to believe a

perfected, 4-Star Master-rank Beedrill couldn't stand against wtwo.

And even if Beedrill struggled, he still had Darkrai. After its own Star-Up and

training, the God of Nightmares was approaching the power level of a First-Class

Legendary.

Matsuma shook his head slowly. "You're young. You still believe in the purity of

the bond. But the world doesn't care about your beliefs. It only cares about

results."

Matsuma held the stone out for one final ti. "Why do you refuse? Even if you

are confident you can win, what does it hurt to have a backup? The choice to use

it or not remains yours. Think of it as insurance for your future."

Kenji narrowed his eyes. "Why are you so desperate for to take this?"

Matsuma's expression softened, a flicker of sothing like weariness crossing

his face. "Call it a final contribution. A legacy left by the man who created

the monster, intended to stop it if it ever went rogue."

"You're doing this out of the goodness of your heart?" Kenji scoffed. "Team

Rocket doesn't do 'goodness.'"

Matsuma let out a short, dry laugh. "Of course we do. Our goal has always been

simple, Kenji. The R-Organization exists for one purpose: to liberate all of

humanity."

"?"

Kenji gave Matsuma a look of pure, unbridled disbelief.

Team Rocket—the global syndicate responsible for mass kidnappings, illegal gene

splicing, and the near-destruction of Dragon Island—was claiming to be the

savior of humanity?

Either Matsuma was a pathological liar, or he was so delusional he had convinced

himself his atrocities were "for the greater good."
