The mont he spoke, Gyarados's massive body instantly charged toward Absol.
But facing the aggressive charge, Yuki's face showed no sign of panic. A wisp of black energy suddenly flashed in her calm eyes.
Then, Absol moved. Its four paws dug into the ground as it exploded forward, charging straight at Gyarados.
"Sooool!!—"
At the sa ti, a dazzling bolt of lightning erupted from the sickle-like horn on its head.
The next instant, the lightning completely enveloped Absol's body as it t Gyarados's charge.
Gyarados, wrapped in its veil of water, collided with Absol, wreathed in lightning.
"ROOOAR!!!—"
"SOOOOL!!!—"
Kenji's heart jumped. He recognized at a glance that the move Absol was using was also a combination move.
If he wasn't mistaken, it was likely a combination of Take Down and Thunderbolt.
Obviously, Absol hadn't known this move during their last battle. In just half a month, it had learned a new combo.
If Yuki tried to say she hadn't developed this specifically to counter his Gyarados, Kenji would never believe her.
Caught off guard by Absol's move, Gyarados let out a pained roar and was knocked backward.
Absol, likewise, was sent flying by the force of the Waterfall.
A closer look showed lightning still arcing across its body—it seed to have taken damage from its own Thunderbolt.
It looked like Absol hadn't fully mastered this combo-move and had used it rashly. It was a move that dealt 1000 damage to the enemy at the cost of 800 to itself.
"Gyarados! Aqua teor!"
"Stop it! Thunderbolt!!"
Gyarados leaped into the sky. Yuki, of course, wouldn't miss this opening, imdiately ordering Absol to seize the chance and use Thunderbolt.
"Soool!!—"
Absol crouched, its sickle-horn aiming at Gyarados, and fired a snake of pure lightning.
"ROOOAR!!!—"
Gyarados roared, taking the full brunt of the Thunderbolt. But the pain of the electricity coursing through its body didn't stop its movent.
Its body arched, like a longbow being drawn.
"BOOM!!!—"
"ROOOAR!!!—"
With a final roar, Gyarados shot downward. At the sa ti, its powerful aura locked onto the Absol below.
With a three-stage speed advantage over Absol, Gyarados was now definitively faster.
Not to ntion, Absol was now completely locked down by Gyarados's aura.
Without hesitation, Absol howled, and a pale green barrier appeared in front of of it.
"Oh my goodness! Gyarados is using its signature move! Aqua teor!"
"Gyarados was hit by the Thunderbolt!!!"
"Absol is defending with Protect! Will it hold?!?!"
Before Mimi could even finish her sentence, Gyarados crashed down.
"BOOOOOOM!!!!—"
A sound like an explosion ripped across the battlefield.
The Aqua teor streaked across the sky and slamd into the ground. Turf was ripped from the earth and dirt flew everywhere.
The pristine grass field now had a massive crater in it.
"Kra... Krack..."
A crisp sound, like shattering glass, ca from the crater, but it was completely drowned out by the explosion.
"THUD!!—"
The next second, a white figure was sent flying out.
It was Absol.
Absol tumbled through the air and rolled twice on the ground, its snow-white fur now dirty and matted.
In the center of the crater, Gyarados was breathing heavily. The toll on its stamina had clearly been imnse.
After all, it had first taken that Thunderbolt/Take Down combo, and then a raw Thunderbolt.
If this were a ga, that 4x weakness would have put it to sleep long ago.
In this tense mont, Kenji couldn't help but clench his fists, his eyes fixed on the fallen Absol.
"Unbelievable! Gyarados's Aqua teor actually broke through Absol's Protect!!"
"Absol is getting up! It's not down yet!!"
Mimi cried out. Kenji's eyes dimd, and he sighed.
Is the level gap still too big?
Absol slowly rose to its feet. It looked wretched, but it was in much better condition than Gyarados.
The level gap was just too large. The fact that Aqua teor could break Protect was already proof of its terrifying power.
But after shattering the barrier, most of the move's power had been spent. The remainder wasn't enough to defeat Absol.
"ROOOAR!!!—"
Just as Kenji was lanting, a furious roar snapped his attention—and the attention of the entire audience—back to Gyarados.
Gyarados's eyes were now blood-red, like two eclipsing suns. A thick, crimson aura enveloped its body, and all traces of its previous exhaustion were gone.
Outrage!!!
Kenji's eyes widened.
This appearance... this was Gyarados using Outrage!
"Oh my goodness! Kenji's Gyarados! It's actually mastered the move Outrage!!!"
Kenji looked at Gyarados's status panel. Sure enough, in its move list, the move "Outrage" had appeared out of nowhere!
"ROOOAR!!!—"
Gyarados had now lost all rational thought. Its blood-red eyes had only one target: Absol. It arched its body and charged!
