After all, Zayne was a real rising star at tropolis Academy. He was notoriously arrogant and cocky, but his strength backed it up completely. He was a guy with a distinct personality.
Kenji, anwhile, was comfortable chatting with Zayne. The conversation soon naturally turned to family background.
"Oh my god! You're an orphan! That's incredible!" Zayne exclaid, his eyes wide with surprise when Kenji ntioned he grew up in an orphanage.
Kenji's expression was odd. Goro, who was taking a drink of water, imdiately spat it out.
Zayne belatedly realized his wording was a little problematic. He waved his hands imdiately. "I didn't an it like that! I an, for an orphan to beco such a powerful trainer... that's incredible!"
Kenji nodded, not taking offense. He understood what Zayne was trying to say.
Through their chat, Kenji found that while Zayne was arrogant, he wasn't blindly overconfident. With people Zayne respected, he was surprisingly friendly, even humble.
Zayne also revealed his own family background: his mother was the sister of the current Western Region Gym Leader.
And his father was a high-ranking League Investigator.
"In this tournant, the person I was most looking forward to fighting was Yuki. I can't believe she was defeated by you," Zayne said, sounding quite surprised.
This piqued Kenji's curiosity. "You know Yuki?" he asked.
Zayne nodded, then shook his head. "Ah, she and I are like unleavened flatbread that hasn't been cooked through—raw, not familiar."
The subtext of "not familiar" was that they did know each other.
To satisfy his curiosity, Kenji pressed him.
Zayne then said, "Yuki... she's the sister of the tropolis Gym Leader, you know."

The tropolis Gym Leader's sister?
The tropolis Gym Leader? Tyson Tang?
With Zayne's comnt, Kenji finally realized both of them had the surna Tang.
Kenji knew that Tyson Tang was quite young, not yet thirty. He had taken over the tropolis Gym at the age of 24. A 24-year-old taking over a Provincial-level Gym, barely a few years out of university—Tyson Tang had been quite the prodigy in his day.
Kenji hadn't made the connection before, since none of the online information he'd found ntioned Tyson Tang having a sister.
But now that he thought about it, a brother who specialized in Poison-types and a sister who loved Dark-types—it was quite a fitting family dynamic.
Being the sister of a Provincial-level Gym Leader, Kenji was no longer surprised that Yuki's Pokémon were all A-Rank potential and "as common as cabbages" to her.
After so more idle chatter, the three of them had grown closer.
When the matches ended, Kenji said goodbye to them and left.
Back at his villa, Kenji pulled up the system panel.
In the battle against Absol, [Spoils of War] had dropped a Long Sword for him.
And he still had a Chain Vest component lying around in his inventory.
Everything was working out perfectly. Without hesitation, Kenji fused the two components into a [Quicksilver Sash].

As for Gyarados and Arbok, Arbok would benefit most from the Quicksilver Sash.
Imagine a 4-Star Arbok with 170 Attack and 170 Speed. It would have the dual abilities of Disguise and Multiscale, and carry both a Quicksilver Sash and a Quicksilver Sash.
It would start the fight with a Dragon Dance boost. The opponent would pop its Disguise, then have to deal with the 50% damage reduction from Multiscale (at full HP).
Just when they finally break through Multiscale, Arbok would trigger the Quicksilver Sash's untargetable effect, nullifying one more attack.
And all this ti, during the Dragon Dance, Arbok would be completely immune to all status moves five tis, including Taunt, which stops buffs, and Haze, which clears all status changes...
Question: How do you deal with a Pokémon like that?
If Beedrill was a pure-stat monster, then an equipped Arbok would be a super-monster with both high stats and high ga-breaking chanics!
But right now, Arbok's level was too low, only 26. But give it so ti to grow—six months at most—and Arbok would absolutely reach the Gym Leader-level.
But for the ti being, giving the Quicksilver Sash to Gyarados was definitely a better idea than giving it to Arbok.
Since he had the [Equipnt Remover], it wasn't expensive anyway. An [Equipnt Remover] cost 250 Gold. He could buy one later when he needed to adjust the equipnt.
Kenji released his four Pokémon. He had Gyarados practice Outrage to further expand its attack coverage, while he supervised Arbok and Larvitar's training.
Arbok was gradually getting used to the daily training routine. It wasn't slacking off or complaining like it used to, and its training efficiency was naturally rising.
Larvitar's level increase was much slower. It was still only level 10.
And this was with Kenji giving it special treatnt, buying rare earth ores and feeding them to it along with mid-grade Pokéblocks.
The agonizingly slow growth rate of a pseudo-legendary in its early stages was truly sothing only a privileged family could afford to nurture.
