Life is never smooth sailing.

The mont the landlady asked that first question, Chen Mo already knew what would follow.

Soone had complained to her. Out of fear of Pokémon, they wanted Chen Mo to either abandon Pichu—or move out voluntarily.

Reality proved sothing very clear.

You couldn't equate the internet with real life. For so people, watching things through a screen was one thing; how they truly felt when faced with it in reality was another matter entirely.

The landlady was a very kind elderly woman. From her tone, it was obvious she was in a difficult position as well.

Thinking back to how the original owner of this body had often been looked after by her—receiving homade traditional holiday food from her every now and then—Chen Mo understood.

"It's ti to find a new place to live."

Standing on the balcony, Chen Mo let the wind wash over him as he gazed at the cityscape beneath the neon lights.

"Pichu."

As if sensing sothing, Pichu quickly climbed up along Chen Mo's pant leg and settled onto his shoulder, choosing to quietly keep him company.

That only strengthened Chen Mo's resolve.

It really was ti to move. On his future journeys, he would encounter more and more Pokémon. This small place simply wasn't suitable for all the little ones he'd et.

"We need a bigger place, Pichu. Don't you think?"

"Pichu~"

...

Finding a suitable house wasn't easy—especially when what Chen Mo wanted was a detached house with its own small yard.

Places like that didn't co cheap.

Even in the outskirts of Anping City, the monthly rent could easily reach five figures.

However—

At this point, Chen Mo could still afford it. After all, just from yesterday's educational livestream alone, even after the platform's cut, he'd still made several thousand yuan.

What surprised him most was that the biggest contributor wasn't the wealthy female fans in his livestream—but Ah Hui, the man who'd once argued with him and then been completely convinced.

Thinking about it, that made sense.

Those one- to two-hour-long highlighted ssages, plus the lifestyle hints dropped during their conversations—this was clearly soone who wasn't short on money.

"I'm sorry, sir… about keeping Pokémon, I'll need to consult with the landlord and the property managent first. I'm really very sorry."

"It's fine. I understand."

"Then please leave your contact information. I'll call you as soon as there's any news."

"Alright."

Walking out of a villa community, Chen Mo looked at Pichu poking its little head out of his backpack. Their eyes t, and both human and Pokémon sighed in unison.

"Pichu pichu."

Waving its tiny paws, Pichu cheered Chen Mo on, as if telling him not to give up.

To think—being comforted by his own Pokémon.

Chen Mo shook his head with a wry smile.

Taking out his phone, he checked the ti. Without realizing it, it was already afternoon.

"Anyway, I told the landlady I'd move out before the end of the month. There's no huge rush. Pichu, let's go eat first."

At the word eat, Pichu's eyes instantly lit up.

"Pichu pi!"

"I know, don't worry. I already checked in advance—the restaurant has ketchup."

As a genuine food lover, Chen Mo had picked their dining spot even before leaving ho.

Once they arrived at the reserved private room, free from prying eyes, Pichu imdiately sprang out of the backpack. With a quick scan, its gaze locked onto the bottle of ketchup placed prominently on the table.

"Pichu~~~"

Watching the little creature clutch the ketchup bottle with a look of pure bliss, Chen Mo reminded it,

"The fruit and snacks on the table are for you too. Don't just lick the ketchup."

"Pichu pi~"

It seed to hear him—or maybe it didn't.

Nodding vaguely, Pichu closed its eyes again and sank back into the intoxicating magic of ketchup.

"Honestly…"

Chen Mo smiled helplessly.

Pichu didn't have obvious gender differences, so Chen Mo had no idea whether he was raising a son or a daughter. He'd only know once Pichu evolved into Pikachu.

Just as man and Pokémon were quietly enjoying their al, the sound of police sirens outside suddenly caught Chen Mo's attention.

Leaning toward the window and looking down, he saw several police cars racing past under the gaze of onlookers.

Chen Mo frowned slightly but didn't dwell on it. After watching the police cars disappear, he soon returned to the table.

Mingyue Jewelry

"Hello, welco."

Hearing footsteps at the entrance, a woman in a staff uniform—who'd been looking at her phone—reflexively delivered her professional greeting. But when she looked up, what greeted her were two tall n wearing strange helts.

A wave of unease spread through her body.

"Y-you…"

"Robbery."

The man on the left, wearing a dark denim jacket and keeping his right hand inside a sling bag, spoke calmly.

Maybe his voice was too soft. Or maybe his tone was too casual. The female employee, already overwheld by panic, didn't react at first.

"W-what did you say?"

The man in denim was speechless. He exchanged a look with his partner, then finally pulled his right hand out of the bag—revealing a long, black object.

"I said, robbery!"

Bang.

A deafening gunshot. The pungent sll of gunpowder.

The shot fired into the ceiling without warning startled everyone—including the helted man who pulled the trigger.

His partner, already extrely nervous, fared even worse. Hugging his head, he slamd straight into the wall beside him.

"Damn it! You scared the hell outta !"

Thankfully, the other man still had a shred of professionalism. Holding up a shotgun and ignoring the terrified screams of the female employees, he barked viciously,

"All of you, squat down!"

The other robber finally rembered what they were here for. Scrambling back up, he rushed to the counter and began smashing the glass display cases filled with jewelry.

"Hurry up, hurry up! Four minutes left!"

"Stop rushing ! I'm working on it! Damn it, why's this glass so tough?!"

"Are you stupid or what? If you can't break it, get those employees who know how to open it!"

"Aren't you the one who told them to squat down?"

"I swear to—!"

In the chaos, the two robbers still managed to sweep up most of the jewelry in the shop, then hurriedly bolted toward the exit.

By now, a small crowd had gathered outside the store.

"What are you looking at? Want a bullet? Get lost!"

Faced with the threat of firearms, the onlookers scattered instantly. The two n jumped onto a motorcycle.

"Go, go, go, go, go!"

"Go already!"

"Holy crap, why are you gripping the clutch so tight?! I said let it go!"

After a series of mishaps, another storm began to brew.
