Bonus chapter

Back when the Counterasure Bureau as a whole still referred to Pokémon as "magical beasts," Yi-ge had already faced them head-on.

But back then, the situation was nothing like how peaceful it was now.

To this day, Yi-ge still rembered clearly: the squad he was in had encountered a massive purple, snake-like Pokémon in the wild—sothing resembling a giant cobra.

It reared up with half its body raised, its size no smaller than a full-grown adult human. The sheer pressure it exuded was overwhelming; just standing there was enough to cause intense psychological stress.

So of the younger, less experienced rookies in the team were so frightened that, in the end, they couldn't even pull the trigger.

After all these years—

Facing a Pokémon once again—

Yi-ge found a strange feeling welling up inside him.

Especially after spending so much ti with Chen Mo and Ah Hui—two people who actually raised Pokémon—and after witnessing the events involving the Cursed Doll in Ziyuan Town.

That feeling only grew more complicated.

Yi-ge suddenly recalled what Professor Zhou had said to him during their phone call the night before.

"Once the policy is officially announced, there will definitely be a lot of dissatisfaction. That's unavoidable. Among our generation, there will inevitably be so people who carry hatred toward Pokémon for their entire lives. This is a shadow of the era—sothing that can never truly be erased."

Yi-ge was soone who had personally experienced those tragedies. He understood those people.

But precisely because he had experienced them himself, he wanted to find a better solution—one that wouldn't allow such people to grow more nurous in the future.

No one truly likes war forever.

Except for madn driven by fanaticism.

"Yi-ge, that's probably enough. No need to force yourself."

Chen Mo's low voice ca from behind, a quiet reminder.

Yi-ge, carrying the cara, showed no change in posture. His gaze remained tightly locked with the Natu on the ground.

Ti ticked by, second by second.

Chen Mo and Ah Hui exchanged a glance, both unsure of what to do.

But the viewers—fully embracing their inner chaos—had no such concerns. So even started live-comntating in the chat.

[Alright, ladies and gentlen, welco to the national finals of One, Two, Three—Don't Move! I'm your comntator, Haohao-kun!]

[Representing Team Humanity, we have Yi-ge, fresh off winning first place in the Global Caraman Championship! There's still a lot of debate about why Yi-ge suddenly switched careers to compete in the Don't-Move tournant and made it all the way to the finals, but after what we've seen, I believe everyone has a very clear understanding of his strength. As a fellow human, I sincerely hope Yi-ge takes ho the championship!]

[Next up, representing Team Pokémon—Natu! Absolute heavyweight contender! A multi-ti champion of the One, Two, Three—Don't Move competition, undefeated for years! Now facing Yi-ge, who has overco countless challenges to reach the finals—this is a clash of titans! I'm sure we're about to witness an incredible showdown!]

[Alright! The match officially begins! Both contestants are in position! Yi-ge enters the zone first! Natu adjusts its stance and follows suit! The battle has officially reached a fever pitch!]

[...]

Watching the increasingly ridiculous barrage of comnts, Chen Mo, hiding behind Yi-ge, could only shake his head helplessly.

He didn't know why Yi-ge had suddenly gotten into a staring contest with a Natu, but since Yi-ge clearly wasn't backing down, Chen Mo had no intention of pushing him.

Besides—

Chen Mo was genuinely curious to see who would blink first.

Just then—

Chen Mo noticed a ssage flash across the chat.

[It moved! It moved! Natu moved first! The match is over! I hereby declare the winner—our beloved caraman, Yi-ge!!!]

In Chen Mo's view, either side could have won this bizarre ga of "wooden man."

But—

He had never expected the match to end this quickly.

Had it even been ten minutes?

The screen was flooded with comnts, obscuring the view. Chen Mo leaned out from beside Yi-ge and looked ahead, only to see that Natu's posture had indeed changed.

It was no longer staring at Yi-ge.

Instead, it was gazing in another direction—toward the fog-shrouded forest.

Feeling sothing was off, Chen Mo followed Natu's line of sight.

But he saw nothing.

Only layers upon layers of dense fog wrapping around the forest, silent and mysterious.

"Yi-ge, you won!"

Ah Hui's excited voice rang out nearby.

Chen Mo was just about to turn and say sothing himself—

When, out of the corner of his eye, he caught sight of a mysterious figure standing in the fog. Its body seed to trail two ribbon-like strears as it faced their direction.

"That is—!"

Chen Mo snapped his head back around.

But in the very next mont—

Everything he had seen vanished like a mirage.

Where his gaze landed, there was only thick fog once more—no trace of any mysterious figure.

"Pichu, did you see that?"

Chen Mo asked the Pichu perched on his shoulder, who had been looking in the sa direction monts earlier.

"Pichu?"

Pichu tilted its head in confusion, clearly not understanding what Chen Mo ant.

Noticing the strange behavior between man and Pokémon, Ah Hui walked over, glanced at the foggy forest, then looked at Chen Mo.

"Mo-ge, what's wrong?"

"Nothing… maybe my eyes were playing tricks on . I thought I saw a Pokémon I was familiar with standing there."

"A Pokémon?"

Ah Hui's interest was instantly piqued. He was just about to head toward the forest when Chen Mo quickly stopped him.

"The fog's too thick. If you wander in and accidentally run into a few bad-tempered Pokémon that aren't friendly to humans, what then?"

Hearing that, Ah Hui imdiately shrank back.

"I'm not going."

At that mont—

Natu finally turned its head back.

"Natu, you lost."

Ah Hui smiled and said to it.

Then he stretched lazily.

"Finally over. Mo-ge, Yi-ge, let's get going. Drive a bit further and we'll reach the place I was talking about."

Chen Mo agreed—it was about ti.

Since Natu had turned away first, this strange contest could be considered finished.

After all that ssing around, it was ti to continue onward.

He turned to Yi-ge, who was still standing there motionless with the cara.

"Yi-ge, shall we go?"

"Mm."

Yi-ge nodded and was just about to turn and leave—

When the three of them saw that Natu, instead of hopping away as expected once Yi-ge moved, actually hopped toward them instead.

Just a small step.

But in its black-and-white eyes, there was a glimr of light.

As if it were saying—

That match just now… isn't over yet.
