Watching the Team Rocket trio gradually disappear into the distance, a mischievous grin appeared on Gengar's face in the shadows.
Both the eerie wind and the terrifying laughter had, of course, been its doing, with the aim of scaring them.
It just never expected that these guys would be so timid. It didn't even have to do much; just a little scare was enough to send them fleeing in panic!
Gengar shrugged and shook its head at Natsui. "What's the deal? They're mbers of Team Rocket, how can they be so cowardly? They can't take a scare at all. What a disgrace to Team Rocket!"
"Alright, stop ssing around." Natsui gave it a helpless look. "Let's hurry up and drive them out to avoid any unnecessary damage here."
Leaving the shadows, Natsui and Gengar quickly chased after the direction Team Rocket had fled.
However, perhaps the trio had been too shaken up. After being scared by Gengar, they fled headlong without looking where they were going and actually stumbled their way right to Maya's door by accident!
Seeing the ornate door, the trio's faces lit up with joy, and they barged right in.
Just as Natsui arrived at the entrance, he heard a woman's scream from inside!
It's Maya!!
Without hesitation, Natsui kicked the door open. When he rushed in, aided by the bright moonlight, he saw Jessie and Maya struggling over the golden scepter!
Both of their hands were gripping the staff tightly, pulling with all their might in opposite directions. Jas and owth stood to the side, seemingly with no intention of intervening.
Seeing Natsui enter, the two parties reacted differently.
"Oh no! It's Natsui!!!"
Jas's face paled, and his trembling voice showed just how nervous he was!
He probably never imagined that just as they found their target, before they even got their hands on the scepter, Natsui would suddenly appear before them!
Contrary to him, a hint of pleasant surprise appeared on Maya's face. She shouted, "Mr. Natsui, these people are trying to steal the Soul of the Sea! Quick, stop them!!"
Perhaps Natsui's sudden appearance gave Maya a surge of strength, and she managed to pull the scepter towards herself.
Jessie, on the other hand, clearly panicked upon seeing Natsui. Coupled with Maya's sudden burst of force, she was montarily unable to snatch the scepter away!
"Darn it!" Jessie cursed under her breath. "How did this woman's strength suddenly increase?!"
Seeing Natsui approaching step by step, and unable to get the scepter in the short term, Jessie couldn't help but shout at Jas and owth, "Hey! You two, don't just stand there like idiots! Go stop him!!"
"Huh?" Hearing Jessie's words, Jas and owth looked at her in disbelief. "Us? Stop him? Are you kidding! That's Natsui!!"
"Less nonsense! I'm determined to get this scepter!!" Veins popped on Jessie's forehead. Seeing them still dawdling, she shouted through gritted teeth, "Hurry up, I can't hold on much longer!"
Seeing their partner give a direct order, and intimidated by her authority, despite being terrified of Natsui, Jas and owth still trembled as they stood in front of Jessie.
Jas threw a Poké Ball, releasing his Weezing, while owth crossed its arms, its claws glinting with a dangerous light.
But faced with the intimidating Gengar, both Weezing and owth involuntarily took a step back!
"Darn it!!"
Realizing it had shown fear, owth let out a loud roar to bolster its courage, then leaped forward, pouncing directly at Gengar.
But Gengar simply sidestepped slightly to easily dodge the attack. Before owth could even turn around, Gengar had already stuck out its long tongue. A single Lick sent a chill through owth's entire body, leaving it paralyzed!
A little farther away, Jas saw Gengar disable owth with just a flick of its tongue and felt a headache coming on.
But even so, he had no choice but to grit his teeth and order Weezing to attack.
"Weezing, use Sludge Bomb!"
Sludge Bomb was a Poison-type attack. Against the Poison- and Ghost-type Gengar, it could barely cause any substantial damage.
But besides that, Jas had no other options. After all, Weezing's typing was at a natural disadvantage.
It could still use so Normal-type moves, but if it got close, it would probably be taken down by Gengar in one hit, just like owth.
Seeing the Sludge Bomb flying closer, Gengar let out its strange laugh. It ford a Shadow Ball in its right hand, and as it was thrown, it not only dispersed the Sludge Bomb but continued forward, hitting Weezing with a 'bang' and slamming it into the wall!
With both Pokémon taken out in an instant, Jas completely lost the will to resist. He dodged behind Jessie to hide.
"You two idiots!!"
Jessie was furious at their incompetence, but she only had ti to curse once before she saw Gengar already closing in on her!
She was suddenly alard. With no ti to think, she forgot about snatching the scepter, imdiately let go, and fumbled at her waist, pulling out two round objects.
From a distance, Natsui glanced over and saw that these two round things were not Poké Balls, but two smoke bombs!
Clatter...
The smoke bombs rolled on the ground for a few circles. Instantly, a large amount of thick smoke spewed out, filling the entire room in just a few seconds.
Natsui covered his nose and took a few steps back.
At first, he thought the Team Rocket trio was planning to escape using the smoke, but suddenly, he heard Maya let out a cry of surprise, followed by the sound of a window shattering and glass falling to the ground!
The change happened in a flash.
When the smoke cleared a little, allowing him to vaguely see the scene in the room, Natsui looked again, but there was no trace of Team Rocket!
Not only were Jessie, Jas, owth, and Weezing gone, but even Maya and the golden scepter had also vanished!
He quickly walked a few steps, passed through the shattered floor-to-ceiling window, and went out onto the balcony. He saw a simple hot air balloon slowly rising into the sky. Faintly, he could hear Jessie's triumphant laughter!
Natsui shook his head with a wry smile, not particularly angry at this outco.
No matter what they did, they were destined not to escape.
What he really hadn't expected was that Jessie would be so audacious as to not only steal the scepter but also abduct Maya!
I really don't know what that woman was thinking...
Sighing, he took a Poké Ball from his pouch. As he threw it into the air, a blue light flashed, and a Charizard appeared on the balcony!
Natsui leaped onto Charizard's back. As Charizard spread its wings, the orange figure shot through the air, chasing after the hot air balloon at high speed...
