Shuichi nodded, then dived into the water. Not long after, when he resurfaced, he was accompanied by a magical creature. It had a white body, wings that looked like arms, and a blue tail fin.
With just one glance, Natsui and the others imdiately recognized it as the legendary God of the Sea—Lugia!
However, compared to the Lugia they had seen in the Orange Archipelago, this one was much smaller, about the sa height as a human child. It was clearly just a juvenile of its species.
Shuichi made the introductions. "This is my friend, Silver. Silver, this is the Sea Hero and his traveling companions. Go on and say hello to them!"
Lugia's eyes curved into a pair of crescents as it let out a cheerful cry at them. It didn't seem shy at all, nor did it seem particularly afraid of humans.
Faced with such a friendly Sea God, after their initial bewildernt, Ash, Misty, and the others quickly bowed their heads and waists in a flustered return greeting.
"Silver... h-hello..."
"I'm Ash."
"I'm Misty!"
This was the first ti any of them had observed a Lugia at such a close distance. Even Ash and Misty had only seen it from afar in the Orange Archipelago; they had never been able to examine it so carefully up close like this.
Especially for Misty, Lugia and Kyogre were among the Pokémon that all Water-type trainers dread of and ultimately hoped to catch. To have one appear right before her eyes, how could she not be excited!

Being praised by Misty like that, Shuichi felt his heart pound wildly, as if it were about to jump out of his chest!
Nearby, Ash tilted his head and asked Shuichi, confused, "Since you and Lugia are such good friends, why didn't you tell us it was here just now?"
Among everyone present, probably only the pure and innocent Ash still didn't understand such a simple concept.
Before Shuichi could answer, Hiroshi had already explained for him. "Shuichi must have been trying to protect Silver, which is why he wouldn't reveal any information about it. After a burst of static, an old but vigorous voice sounded in his earpiece.
"It's not Danba, it's Dr. Namba! Honestly, how many tis do I have to tell you?"
"Ah... I'm very sorry." The Team Rocket grunt wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, first apologizing, then said seriously, "Dr. Namba, we have found Lugia on a small island off Oki Island. Requesting next instructions!"
