Pokémon Legend Chapter 488 487: Dragonair's Evolution

Priape flew through the air, hit the ground, and rolled a few tis before its limbs went limp. It fainted, unable to battle.

From start to finish, the first match had only lasted a few minutes. Dragonair had won easily.

Chuck's students stared with their mouths open. This was not what they had expected at all. They couldn't believe that their teacher, a master of Fighting-types, had his Pokémon defeated so easily. After all, neither Pokémon had a type advantage.

So of them even rubbed their eyes, as if to make sure the Priape lying on the ground was the sa fierce Pokémon that usually crushed other challengers.

Priape was a good Pokémon, but it was just one of Chuck's decent ones. Because he didn't recognize Natsui, Chuck had treated him like any other challenger. In the end, he had lost because he didn't take his opponent seriously enough.

"Beating my Priape that easily... you've definitely got so skill. It looks like I need to get a little more serious!"

Chuck gave Natsui a surprised look. He took out the Poké Ball he had just put away and returned the fainted Priape.

He admitted to himself that he had underestimated his opponent. He thought Natsui was just a regular challenger, but he was actually very strong. He often used that Priape as his first Pokémon, and it was rare for it to be defeated so quickly.

It seed he needed to make things a little harder.

With that thought, he waved to the Machoke that Natsui had seen on the beach. Machoke saw the signal and leaped into the center of the battlefield.

CRASH!

Machoke landed solidly, and the floor groaned under its weight.

"Young man," Chuck said, "I can see that you're a skilled trainer. From now on, I won't treat you like so rookie who just started their journey!"

Natsui smiled and nodded. "Mr. Chuck, you should be careful too. My Dragonair is very strong."

For Chuck to send out this Machoke after losing the first round showed how much confidence he had in it.

Machoke, huh...

Natsui had fought its pre-evolved form, Machop, many tis, but this was his first ti facing a Machoke.

Machoke was a pure Fighting-type with gray skin and powerful muscles all over its body. It wore a golden belt to control its power, had black markings that looked like briefs, five fingers on each hand and foot, and six red marks on each arm. It was an incredibly strong-looking Pokémon.

Natsui decided not to switch out his Pokémon. Dragonair wasn't badly hurt, so he let it continue the fight.

When the match restarted, Chuck was clearly much more focused. If Priape was just an angry amateur, then Machoke was a fighting expert who combined power with skill.

As soon as they started, Natsui could feel that this battle was going to be much tougher than the last one.

Machoke's attacks were well-planned, flowing from one move to the next. This made it hard for Dragonair to keep up. The fact that Dragonair didn't have arms or legs was also a problem. It couldn't block Machoke's close-range attacks and had to keep its distance to fight back.

"Machoke, use Seismic Toss!"

After a long struggle, Chuck gave the command. Machoke leaped toward Dragonair again, trying to grab it in its arms. But just as it moved, Dragonair twisted its body and dodged.

Taking its chance, Dragonair imdiately struck back with an Aqua Tail, whipping it straight at Machoke.

Because they were so close, Machoke couldn't dodge. It could only protect its head with its arms and take the hit.

The Aqua Tail sent Machoke staggering back a few steps, but it managed to regain its balance.

"This is tough..."

Both Natsui and Chuck thought the exact sa thing at the sa ti.

In the center of the field, the two Pokémon were battling again. One attacked while the other used its long body to move around skillfully. They went back and forth, and for a while, neither could get the upper hand.

The students watched without blinking. For them, a battle like this was incredibly exciting.

But to their disappointnt, even though Machoke landed several good hits, Dragonair didn't go down. Instead, it used Thunder Wave to paralyze Machoke and then finished it off with a Hyper Beam.

"He lost again..."

Seeing Machoke fall, Chuck's students shook their heads. The first loss was one thing, but they really thought Machoke had a chance to win this second round. In the end, it just showed that Dragonair was the stronger Pokémon.

For Natsui, however, this wasn't surprising. He could tell that this Machoke wasn't Chuck's strongest Pokémon either. The fact that it lasted so long against his Dragonair was already impressive.

Chuck clapped his hands, about to praise Dragonair's performance, when a bright white light suddenly burst from its body.

Chuck was very familiar with that light. It was the light of evolution.

"Huh? It's evolving!?"

Natsui was also pleasantly surprised. To be honest, Dragonair should have evolved a while ago. It just needed the right mont, and today was that day.

Soon, the light faded, and a brand-new Pokémon stood before them. It was orange with a cream-colored belly, two small wings on its back, and two long antennae on its head. It was a big, chubby Dragonite.

After evolving, Dragonite twisted and turned, seeming a little uncomfortable in its new body.

Seeing this, Natsui couldn't help but smile. "Congratulations, Dragonite! You might not be as cute as before, but you're much stronger now!"

Dragonite turned and called out to him, then looked down at its own claws. It was clear that having arms and legs was going to take so getting used to.
