On the hood of the police car were several floor plans of the Goldenrod TV Station, clearly showing the layout of each level. Next to them was a video player. Looker tapped the screen a few tis and played a clip.
It was from a security cara. It showed people just arriving at the station for work that morning, rushing through the lobby. Everything seed normal. Then, the automatic doors opened, and dozens of Team Rocket mbers in black uniforms stord in. With the help of their Pokémon, they quickly took control of the entire lobby. Terrified people fled the station as the Team Rocket mbers spread out, floor by floor, until the entire building was under their control. Then, the video feed cut out.
After Natsui finished watching, Looker said in a low voice, "This is a terrible incident. I don't know what these guys from Team Rocket are thinking. Acting so brazenly... are they trying to declare war on the world?"
"Can you still see what's happening inside?"
Looker shook his head. "Team Rocket cut all the cara signals. We've lost contact with the inside. And the worst part is, there are still many hostages who didn't get out in ti."
As he spoke, a static sound suddenly ca from the video player. The screen flickered, and a new video feed cut in without warning. It wasn't just on their device; the sa video appeared on the large electronic billboards outside, on every TV, computer, and even people's phones.
In the video, a female Team Rocket mber with pink hair spoke to the cara. "Attention everyone in the Johto region! We are Team Rocket! Today, we are here to announce our arrival! We ask all team mbers who hear this ssage to gather here imdiately! Boss Giovanni, if you are watching this, please join us!"
The video ended there. Just as suddenly as it had appeared, the screen returned to normal. If it weren't for the deep frown on Looker's face, it would have seed like a hallucination.
"What is their goal?" Looker was completely baffled. "Taking over this place leaves them with no escape route. And what do they an, 'ask Giovanni to join them'? Does this an Giovanni didn't plan this?"
Natsui thought for a mont. "From the video, it seems they've lost contact with Giovanni. With their bases in the Johto region being taken down one after another, their situation here must be desperate. They're like scattered sand. That's why they're resorting to such a reckless plan."
Looker nodded, agreeing with his analysis.
"In any case, with such a big commotion, it's possible Giovanni might show up. This is a golden opportunity to catch them all in one go!"
Natsui gently shook his head but didn't say anything. Giovanni probably won't show up this ti. After his identity as a Gym Leader was exposed, his current strategy is to lay low and gather his strength in the shadows. This flashy operation goes against everything he stands for. Besides, Giovanni isn't one for high-profile actions.
He looked at Looker. "What's your plan now?"
Looker hesitated. "Originally, I had assembled a team to storm the station, and I was going to ask you to sneak in. But now that this video is out..."
Even though he didn't finish, Natsui knew what he was thinking. Looker wanted to wait for Giovanni to show up so he could capture them all at once. It was a nice thought, but the outco probably wouldn't be what he hoped for.
Fortunately, Looker had a great deal of respect for Natsui. Even though he had his own idea, he still asked for his opinion. "What do you think about this?"
Natsui told him his thoughts, and Looker fell into a deep silence.
After a long mont, he let out a long sigh. "You're right. I overlooked Giovanni's personality and thought things were too simple. He would never put himself in danger for such a risky operation."
Natsui could only console him. "It's okay even if you don't catch Giovanni. This is basically the last of Team Rocket's effective forces in Johto. As long as you capture these mbers, even if Giovanni wants to do sothing here in the future, he'll find himself with no one to command."
Natsui's words were like a shot of confidence, and they helped Looker make his final decision.
"You're right. The top priority now is to arrest these Team Rocket mbers. We can't let them cause any more trouble!"
With the plan set, Looker began to deploy his forces. At his command, rows of tactical officers quickly assembled. They were fully equipped with helts and riot shields, ready for action.
Once that was done, he walked back to Natsui.
"Brother Natsui, I'll have to trouble you now. My idea is, while my officers attack the front entrance, you sneak in from sowhere else, rescue the hostages, and arrest the leader of this operation."
"No problem. I'm good at this sort of thing," Natsui agreed with a smile. He had done it so many tis, it was almost routine.
He then turned to Erika. He knew that even if he didn't ask, she would co with him. Sure enough, he could see the determination in her eyes.
They exchanged a smile and began to whisper, planning their entry point. Team Rocket would surely be guarding all the entrances and exits, especially places like the back door and the roof. They wouldn't leave any obvious openings.
Natsui studied the blueprints for a long ti, trying to find a more hidden route, but the sewers and vents were too small for a person to get through. In the end, it was Erika who suggested they break in through a window on one of the upper floors. The advantage was that Team Rocket didn't have enough mbers to guard every single window on every floor, so they could achieve the elent of surprise.
The only problem was that the area around the TV station was quite open. They would need so cover to get close without being seen.
They told the plan to Looker, who smiled. "That's not a problem. I'll imdiately organize a fake attack to support you, and we'll use smoke bombs nearby to block their line of sight!"
