Damian's puzzled expression, Giratina gave no answer.
Shadow Lugia—how could it be affected by the Dread Plate like this, how would it know, and it doesn't care either.
"Forget it, it doesn't matter."
Damian couldn't figure out the answer, so he stopped thinking about it; right now the most important thing is to take Shadow Lugia down.
"Screech~!"
Shadow Lugia finally couldn't hold back at this mont, its huge purple‑black wings beating heavily.
Darkness Storm!
The black gale roared out, sweeping in.
The dark wind roared across the sky, like wailing demons, chilling and terrifying, blotting out the whole sky.
However, this Move was useless against Origin For Giratina.
"Shadow Force."
Giratina's dragon eyes glowed with cold brutality, its massive body shifting as it moved forward, the dragon body morphing in and out.
In the instant the darkness storm struck, Giratina had already beco completely incorporeal.
All the dark winds passed right through Giratina, not affecting it in the slightest.
Even the strongest move, if you can't land it, is an ineffective hit.
And Giratina's Shadow Force is such a bug of a Move.
In the Shadow Force state, Giratina quickly closed in on Shadow Lugia, turning solid,
Shadow Lugia's angered shrill cry, the black energy coalescing and pulsing at its mouth.
Dark Pulse!
A black wave shot toward the Giratina it saw, but just as Dark Pulse was about to strike Giratina,
Dark Pulse once again passed through Giratina's incorporeal form.
Boom!
Next mont, Giratina slamd into Shadow Lugia's chest, pushing Shadow Lugia back a short distance.
Ghost‑type Shadow Force!
Shadow Lugia cried out in pain; Giratina's Ghost‑type attack was strong, even though Ghost‑type Shadow Force isn't very effective against Shadow Lugia, it still hurt.
Shadow Lugia steadied itself, its blood‑red eyes fuelling its anger and frenzy with pain; its huge right wing lit with dark haze, smashing toward Giratina.
Dark type Payback!
However, after the hit, Giratina's dragon body once again swam and drifted to the left, as if a ghost.
Shadow Lugia's Payback struck very quickly, but Giratina's body turned semi‑transparent again.
Payback struck the air again!
"Thunder!"
In the next mont, Giratina re‑appeared in solid form, the golden lightning blazing.
Boom!
A strike of lightning blasted onto Shadow Lugia's body.
Shadow Lugia let out a painful shrill cry; the lightning crackled and gnawed at its body, very painful.
"Judging by the reaction, seems Flying / Dark, doesn't it?" Damian narrowed his eyes slightly.
Clearly, that Thunder hit Shadow Lugia hard, indicating this is a tough attack.
A Flying / Dark combination, the sa as Yveltal.
The Thunder attack exploded with a violent gust of wind.
"Screech!!"
But Shadow Lugia's sharper cry rang out the next mont, black spirals spinning wildly, a beam of light cutting toward Giratina.
Dark type Shadow Blast!
But still useless.
Giratina didn't even bother to dodge, charging straight toward Shadow Blast.
Shadow Blast pierced Shadow Force's incorporeal state again, and as it drew near Shadow Lugia, it beca solid, slamming hard into Shadow Lugia.
What followed was basically a back‑and‑forth cycle.
Shadow Lugia was going berserk! Blood‑red eyes filled with resentnt and rage.
Miss! Miss! Miss!
How on earth do you win this?!
"Giratina, this move is just too dark."
Watching this battle, Primal Kyogre offered the sa verdict.
Only hit others, not yourself—that's how it is, right?
Primal Kyogre imagined himself in Shadow Lugia's position; no matter how he attacked, he couldn't land a hit, and there was nothing he could do—infuriating as hell.
"But isn't it interesting?" Damian's face could not hide a wry smile.
He was quite pleased with Giratina's performance.
In truth Shadow Lugia is very powerful, but Origin For Giratina is stronger, especially with a bug Move like Shadow Force.
It flickers in and out of existence at will, closing in without any pressure.
There are ways to counter it, but not sothing a mind‑tangled Shadow Lugia could conjure at this mont.
It's completely unable to calm down, utterly crazy.
The black storm kept venting in all directions, venting the anger and berserk rage inside.
Luckily they're in midair and the sea lies below, otherwise this whole area would be wrecked.
Seeing Shadow Lugia in that berserk state, Giratina didn't rush in; it simply watched Shadow Lugia go mad in silence.
When Shadow Lugia's frenzy ended, a Thunder strike slamd down, perfectly hitting Shadow Lugia.
Shadow Lugia finally couldn't hold on; its body, out of control, fell into the sea.
Being on the defensive the whole ti, even with a strong constitution, you can't keep absorbing hits.
And for Damian's first boss‑level Giratina battle, he fell into thought.
How to put it—it's interesting, yet oddly a bit dull?
Giratina's strength was formidable, and with a bug‑like Move, the entire battle had been effortless.
Of course, a big factor was that this Shadow Lugia, whose mind had already been corrupted by malice, couldn't calm down.
Otherwise the battle wouldn't have been so smooth.
From Damian's view, nothing would change; Origin For Giratina is unquestionably stronger than Shadow Lugia, not to ntion it has its own boss.
The battle ended, and Damian released Reshiram, jumping onto its back.
"Kyogre, go pull Lugia up."
Primal Kyogre lunged into the sea.
No choice—Shadow Lugia had fallen into the sea; you can't just let it be, right?
No way, Whirl Islands is for Shadow Lugia after all.
Soon Primal Kyogre controlled the sea and carried the unconscious Shadow Lugia to the nearest island.
Damian sat on Reshiram, watching Shadow Lugia below; for a mont he wasn't sure if he should throw a Ultra Ball now.
"Are you going to catch it?"
Giratina's hoarse telepathy reached him.
"Exactly, I kind of like it."
"This isn't a good idea; it's been too heavily influenced by the Plate, even its essence has changed."
Giratina's red dragon eyes fixed on Shadow Lugia; the Dread Plate's power had completely saturated the Lugia's body.
"If it can't regain its consciousness, I'd suggest you give up on it."
aning, if it can recover consciousness, you could still catch it.
But if not, its consciousness has already been erased by the Dread Plate, unlikely to co back.
The Plate's power is that ruthless.
"I know." Damian nodded; he isn't about to risk his own life.
Damian didn't rush to throw a Ultra Ball; he waited a while.
Not long after, Shadow Lugia woke up, its eyes still bloody, but this ti the chilling glare was gone.
Noticing this, Damian thought it was good news.
Shadow Lugia slowly lifted its head; in its line of sight stood Giratina, Kyogre, and Reshiram, plus the human boy on Reshiram's back.
Shadow Lugia's bloodshot eyes showed a hint of confusion.
"You've finally woken up."
Damian spoke to Shadow Lugia first.
Shadow Lugia tried to rise, but its weakened body wouldn't let it.
What's happening to ?
"You're hurt from our fight; you just went berserk. Do you rember anything?"
Shadow Lugia fell silent, trying to recall the ti; fragnted mories flickered.
"Thank you, humans."
Shadow Lugia's deep, husky telepathy sounded, a bit weakened.
"Looks like you're back to yourself; getting beaten up helps," Damian joked.
"..."
Shadow Lugia offered a wry smile.
"How did you end up like this?"
"I slipped in under the grand waterfall to sleep, and during that ti a force kept entering my body. By the ti I realized it, it was too late."
"That force gradually changed my body, even affecting my consciousness. I could only seal myself to resist, but it was useless."
Shadow Lugia sighed; it doesn't know what to do now.
Although the recent battle left it gravely wounded and its mind has recovered, who knows if it will keep being affected?
"I see."
"Then here's the plan—stay with for now. Your current state is special; you can help in battles when I need you, and I'll stop you if your consciousness starts to slip again."
Damian's suggestion. It's a win‑win.
"This… okay."
Shadow Lugia hesitated.
"Then thanks, humans."
Shadow Lugia still agreed; it doesn't want to stay in this self‑destructive state; it has a mate and a child.
"Okay, for now we'll observe; if your condition worsens, I'll find a way to help you."
Damian told Shadow Lugia.
And of course, his plan is to go find Arceus.
After all, Shadow Lugia's problem stemd from the Dread Plate, so finding Arceus is the right move.
"Also, my na is Damian."
"Good, Damian. Thanks."
Shadow Lugia was grateful; this human… is good!
Damian looked at Shadow Lugia and couldn't help but flash a sunny smile—he'd won Shadow Lugia's allegiance.
Truly a surprisingly easy win, not just a battle but the persuasion process.
It proves that Legendary Pokémon with special cases like Shadow Lugia can be won over once you beat them.
"Actually, no need for complints—your child is with my friends now."
Damian said with a smile.
"Ah?"
Shadow Lugia startled.
"Actually, I ca here a few months ago. I t your mate then, and…."
Damian pulled out a mini Sacred Ash to restore Shadow Lugia's strength and spoke about the situation back then.
Shadow Lugia sighed again; with its current look it didn't know how to face Lugia's mother and child.
Well, Shadow Lugia obviously thinks this form is ugly.
Shadow Lugia looked troubled.
Damian didn't know what Shadow Lugia was thinking; his mind was filled with one thing:
Dread Plate!!
The Dread Plate isn't the sa as the Jewel of Life. The Jewel of Life was left by Arceus to Michina Town, so Damian shouldn't touch it, or Arceus would have reasons to trouble him.
But the Dread Plate is different; even though he doesn't know how this plate ended up here, Damian doesn't care.
One thing he does know:
This is mine to pick up!
