Now reading: Chapter 1 1: Victini from Pokémon: Starting From Zero as a Legendary Pokémon, a Action novel by YonkoSlayer.

Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, daylight was being kneaded apart by the encroaching dusk. The vast glass curtain wall resembled a gray-blue crystal soaked by rain, framing the silver-gray airplanes on the tarmac, the orange-red ground service vehicles, and the distant, hazy control tower into shifting silhouettes.

"Flight CA4107 to the Sinnoh region is now boarding…"

The broadcast suddenly pierced the air. The boy in a white T-shirt opened his eyes from quiet contemplation. By his ear ca a soft call of "Bini," and he felt sothing land gently on his shoulder.

"It's ti to set off, Victini."

Sora Kenji lightly stroked the spot on his shoulder. There was nothing there to the naked eye, yet warmth spread across his palm.

Fluffy, soft—like a slightly heated hand warr—comfortably warm.

"Ready to begin a new journey?"

"Bini, binibini."

A cheerful cry echoed in the air. It belonged to the Pokémon Sora Kenji called Victini, currently in an invisible state.

"What was that sound?"

A passenger walking beside Sora Kenji glanced over curiously, but seeing nothing unusual, simply tugged along their Sewaddle and hurried toward the boarding gate.

Yes—this was not Sora Kenji's original world, but a world inhabited by the incredible creatures known as Pokémon.

"Keep it low-key, V."

"Bini~"

The little one covered her mouth and giggled, though her movents and voice beca noticeably more cautious.

Having lived in Eindoak for a thousand years, Victini had plenty of experience in avoiding detection by outsiders.

"It's our turn."

Soon, Sora Kenji passed through security as well.

Once seated on the plane, he scooped Victini—who had been lying on his shoulder—into his arms and took out a box of macarons from his backpack.

The cabin was unusually empty, with two seats on each side of the aisle.

Because of limited funds, Sora Kenji had only purchased a single seat. Yet even after takeoff, the seat beside him remained vacant.

The two seats across the aisle were empty as well.

In the Pokémon world, with its vast lands and sparse population, such scenes were hardly unusual.

Of course, it depended on the region.

Take the Unova region, where Sora Kenji had previously lived. Its real-world counterpart was the United States from his past life.

Unova's territory was enormous—far larger than what Sora Kenji had seen in gas and ani.

In the Pokémon world, humans and Pokémon coexisted harmoniously. Vast undeveloped forests and rivers were the norm rather than the exception.

Additionally, Unova was known for its open culture, proudly calling itself the most free-spirited League in the world.

Various organizations promoting different ideologies were everywhere. During the short ti Sora Kenji had spent waiting in the terminal, he had already encountered several.

Fortunately, they were leaving Unova.

Even Team Plasma only operated within Unova's borders.

Once he left the region, Sora Kenji would no longer have to worry about being targeted by Team Plasma's brainwashing campaigns that forced people to release their Pokémon.

"Hungry?"

Sora Kenji gently patted the small, transparent head of Victini and smiled.

"Have a snack to tide you over. Once we reach Sinnoh, we'll go eat a big al together."

"Bini~~"

At the ntion of food, the little one happily kicked her feet, grabbing two macarons—one in each hand—and stuffing them into her mouth.

"Bi—!"

Joy turned to misery in an instant. Eating too quickly, Victini choked once again.

"Haha."

Sora Kenji couldn't help laughing. He quickly helped her catch her breath until she recovered.

Watching Victini reappear, still looking shaken, Sora Kenji poked her soft belly with a finger and teased:

"That's what you get for eating so fast. Learned your lesson now?"

"Bi!!"

Seeing his schadenfreude, Victini indignantly headbutted his chest, half-angry and half-acting cute, rubbing the V-shaped crest on her head against him.

"Alright, alright—my fault, my fault."

Smiling, Sora Kenji picked up a macaron and held it in front of her.

"Don't be mad. Here—have a strawberry one."

"Bi!"

The little one crossed her arms and shot him a sidelong glance.

Unfortunately, she couldn't maintain the pout for long. The sweet aroma of the macaron quickly captured her attention, and she once again sank into blissful eating.

Since no one was nearby—and they had already left Unova, aning no need to worry about hostile organizations targeting them—

Sora Kenji no longer made Victini stay hidden.

Despite being a mythical Pokémon, Victini's legend was mostly passed down orally among the People of the Vale.

At this point in ti, the Pokémon world's internet and technology were nowhere near as advanced as in the ani's sixth or seventh generations.

In regions like Kanto and Johto, people were still using desktop computers.

As for devices like Rotom Phones or smart appliances—they hadn't even been heard of.

Based on Sora Kenji's research, the Pokémon world he now lived in was primarily based on the ani, but also contained certain elents from the gas—such as the place he was heading to this ti: Kitakami in the Sinnoh region.

"Phew…"

Thinking this, Sora Kenji leaned back in his seat and slowly closed his eyes. mories of the ti since his transmigration surfaced unbidden.

Before I knew it, it's been almost two years since I ca to this world.

Originally, Sora Kenji had been a freshman preparing to start university. Then, without warning, he found himself in the Unova region of the Pokémon world.

He had no idea why he had transmigrated.

After arriving, he discovered that his body had beco several years younger, reverting to that of a fourteen- or fifteen-year-old boy.

Fortunately, he confird that it was still his original body.

It was simply that, during the transmigration process, so unknown influence had altered him so he could better adapt to the rules of the Pokémon world.

In short, Sora Kenji now possessed what could be called a Poké-human physique.

Though he was still far from the likes of the so-called super rookies or the famously hardy Hisuian people—

Minor attacks like Thunder Shock, Tackle, or Fury Swipes were things he could sleep off overnight and recover from completely.

Humans in the Pokémon world were indeed a kind of Pokémon.

With this level of physical resilience, he would practically be a minor superhero back in his previous world.

Starting out undocunted—not even a proper civilian.

And now I've saved up so League currency and even managed to befriend Victini…

Sora Kenji couldn't help but sigh inwardly:

Damn, I'm freaking aweso.

And honestly, he had every right to be proud.

When he first transmigrated, he had nothing.

No identity. No starter Pokémon. Not a single coin to his na.

Thankfully, he had no language barrier with the people of this world, which allowed him to find work and survive.

The Pokémon world was like a utopian fantasy.

Most people here were kind-hearted.

Even mbers of so-called evil organizations often acted in pursuit of their ideals.

Of course, that didn't apply to the truly rotten ones.

Organizations like Team Rocket, certain unscrupulous businessn, and hunters like Hunter J were genuine villains through and through.

Having watched the ani and understood the general structure of the Pokémon world, Sora Kenji knew exactly who could help him.

Nurse Joy at Pokémon Centers, and Officer Jenny, who maintained public safety across regions.

Upon learning about his predicant, the kind-hearted won imdiately offered him assistance.

With their help, Sora Kenji found work and solved his most urgent problem: food and shelter.

Still… in the real Pokémon world, for a nobody without identity to rise to prominence—it's incredibly difficult.

Sora Kenji loved Pokémon. He had once dread of traveling this world, capturing all kinds of Pokémon.

Challenging Gyms. Competing in the League. Defeating the Elite Four. Reaching the champion's throne.

But reality was harsh.

I really envy Ash… having a big shot like Professor Oak backing him up, raising his Pokémon for him.

Sora Kenji held Victini—now drowsy after eating—in his arms, gently stroking her back. Then he opened his wallet and glanced at the cash inside.

Thirty thousand League currency in cash. Fifty thousand in the card.

A total of eighty thousand.

That was his entire fortune.

In the Pokémon world, goods unrelated to Pokémon were inexpensive—many even cheap.

But items related to Pokémon, like Poké Balls, energy cubes, or battle items, were priced on an entirely different scale.

For example, the most basic Poké Ball cost 200 League currency each.

More than a year ago, when Sora Kenji had just arrived with nothing, he couldn't even begin to consider how to feed a Pokémon.

Just that single 200-coin Poké Ball alone had been enough to stop him in his tracks.

Yet he never gave up on his dream.

He made a plan—and ultimately identified a path that could allow a commoner trainer to reach the very top of the world.

First, as a transmigrator, his greatest advantage was his knowledge—far beyond that of most people in this world.

His understanding of Pokémon across generations, along with plot information from gas and ani.

He identified powerful Pokémon that he might realistically be able to obtain.

Victini in Eindoak… and Ogerpon in Kitakami.

These were the two legendary Pokémon he believed would be the easiest to acquire.

Ogerpon's case was obvious.

With her lonely nature, rejected by the villagers of Kitakami, she had lived in isolation on Oni Mountain for hundreds of years.

If Sora Kenji simply followed the storyline from the gas, taking her away wouldn't be too difficult.

The only question was whether those ga events truly existed in this world.

The solution was simple—look up Kitakami online.

And indeed, this world did have a remote town nad Kitakami in the Sinnoh region, one that had long promoted the legend of the Loyal Three and the Ogre.

Of course, no matter how much they advertised, few travelers were willing to visit such a remote and impoverished place.

Still, Sora Kenji didn't rush there imdiately.

The reason was simple—the distance from Unova to Sinnoh was enormous.

Unova corresponded to the United States, while Sinnoh resembled Hokkaido in Japan.

Traveling from Unova to Sinnoh involved costs and risks that the earlier version of Sora Kenji simply couldn't bear.

So in the end, he set his sights on Victini.

He traveled to Eindoak—searching for Victini while working to earn money at the sa ti.

Finally, he found her.

And over the course of a year together, he earned the little one's friendship.

Though Sora Kenji had his own goals, he genuinely liked Victini.

Pokémon could sense human hearts.

Victini was no exception.

To free her true nature—to let her leave the cage that was Eindoak and reclaim her freedom—

As for how to take her away—

Sora Kenji wasn't certain.

But he still shared his plan with her.

The first attempt involved a Poké Ball.

Eindoak was surrounded by a barrier that prevented Victini from leaving—sothing like an energy shield.

But could that barrier block a Poké Ball?

When Sora Kenji suggested capturing Victini and carrying her out inside a Poké Ball, the little one didn't resist at all—fully demonstrating her innocence and trust in him.

Unfortunately, the experint failed.

While the Poké Ball concealed Victini's presence, it couldn't bypass the barrier.

When Sora Kenji tried to carry the Poké Ball containing Victini out of Eindoak, the barrier activated—blocking both Victini and the Poké Ball inside.

He had expected this outco.

If carrying the Poké Ball out didn't work, then he would try capturing her from outside the barrier.

The red beam from the Poké Ball successfully passed through the barrier, struck Victini, and converted her into red light—drawing her into the Poké Ball.

But the mont that red light touched the barrier, Victini was instantly forced back to her original form.

It was impossible.

Whether placed directly inside the ball or recalled from a distance, the barrier rcilessly prevented Victini from leaving.

Two failures in a row still didn't extinguish Sora Kenji's determination to save her.

So this ti, he turned to technology even more advanced than a Poké Ball—

The Pokémon Transfer System.

And this ti, he succeeded.

Human technology triumphed over a thousand-year-old mystery.

The barrier of Eindoak could not stop spatial transfer.

After a thousand years, Victini finally regained the boundless sky.
