Victini's Victory buff didn't simply raise Lilligant's energy level to match her own.
It was more like a comprehensive enhancent across the board.
Based on the data Sora had gathered:
Before receiving the buff, Lilligant was level 68.
Now, her effective level had risen to roughly the sa range as Ogerpon's—perhaps even slightly higher—already approaching level 80. Calling her a quasi-80 wouldn't be an exaggeration.
That was far beyond Victini's own level of 72.
A boost of nearly twelve levels…
Even at level 68, Lilligant can still gain this much.
The most frightening part was that the amplification wasn't fixed.
The stronger the Pokémon, the greater the benefit it could receive.
If a level 77 Ogerpon were to gain Victini's Victory boost, Sora suspected she could trade blows evenly with Pokémon nearing level 90.
But compared to the power Lilligant displayed, what shocked Sora even more was the performance of the newly recruited little "oni."
"Poné~~"
With a casual swing of her vine club, Ogerpon landed lightly on the ground.
She glanced at the weapon in her hand—now covered in cracks—then looked at Lilligant again.
Her eyes burned with battle intent.
Yes.
Only the vine club had broken.
In that instant earlier, when Ogerpon closed the distance, Lilligant had unleashed a high-power Leaf Storm.
Under those circumstances, Ogerpon had no way to dodge.
So she chose to tank it head-on.
By wildly swinging her club, her small body was blasted backward by the storm—but every bit of the attack's energy had been dispersed by her counterstrikes.
The final result:
One shattered vine club.
Zero injuries.
"Poné!"
She let out a light cry and flicked both arms.
Two new vine clubs—thicker and denser with energy than before—ford instantly in her hands.
Hold on… isn't this a bit terrifying?
If Sora's judgnt was correct, Ogerpon's level was 77, slightly lower than Lilligant's current buffed state.
Yet in that collision with Leaf Storm, it had felt as though Ogerpon was the one suppressing Lilligant.
The battle resud.
Energy Ball.
Magical Leaf.
Seed Bomb.
Lilligant's moves were varied and dazzling.
Ogerpon's response, however, was astonishingly simple.
Vine club.
Vine club.
Still the damn vine club.
And yet—
This stripped-down, back-to-basics fighting style steadily pushed the supposedly advantaged Lilligant into a visible disadvantage.
This… isn't normal.
Without Victini, even if Lilligant and Ogerpon were the sa level, she still wouldn't win.
At best, they might fight evenly until Lilligant's stamina ran out—after five or six exchanges, she'd collapse into a one-sided beating.
But this wasn't ordinary Lilligant.
This was buffed Lilligant.
In essence, this battle should have been Lilligant and Victini fighting together against Ogerpon.
With her stamina weakness removed, buffed Lilligant was practically equivalent to a near-80 Mythical-class combatant.
And yet—
She was being pressed by a level-77 Ogerpon.
That was simply unbelievable.
Why is this happening?
Sora wasn't worried about safety—he could already tell Ogerpon was holding back.
Many of her attacks looked fierce but deliberately avoided Lilligant's body.
She was clearly showing restraint.
The gap… can't possibly be this large.
The thought surfaced—then he imdiately rejected it.
No. This definitely isn't just a difference in strength.
Wait.
Suddenly, Sora recalled the very first exchange between them.
Energy Ball…
He replayed the move's effect in his mind.
Draws power from nature to attack… with a chance to lower the target's Special Defense…
"Holy—"
Realization hit him.
"That's ridiculously unfair."
He rembered.
Under the Teal Mask, Ogerpon's ability was Defiant.
Back when he played the gas, he had loved that ability.
Defiant
Effect: When any stat is lowered by an opponent, Attack increases by two stages.
A two-stage boost effectively doubled Ogerpon's physical attack.
And there had been three Energy Balls.
"A ten-percent chance—and it triggered anyway?"
No.
Sora quickly concluded it wasn't luck.
Reality wasn't a ga.
Abilities weren't rigid chanics—they evolved and stabilized as a Pokémon grew stronger.
For ordinary Pokémon, Defiant might rely on probability.
But Ogerpon didn't.
Energy Ball carried a stat-lowering property.
Her conscious battle experience might be limited—but centuries of instinct had taught her body to recognize threats automatically.
By striking the Energy Balls with her vine club, she had absorbed that weakening effect directly.
And the mont the stat-lowering effect collided with her Defiant ability—
Her Attack jumped to 200% of its original value.
But that still wasn't the end.
Because Lilligant had fired three Energy Balls at once, Ogerpon effectively received three stat reductions in rapid succession.
"Defiant triggered repeatedly at that mont."
Sora could barely comprehend it.
Those three attacks had landed so close together they were practically simultaneous.
Yet Ogerpon's body instinctively distinguished them as separate events—and activated Defiant three tis in sequence.
With any other Pokémon, Sora was certain it would be impossible.
Not even a double trigger.
Even two activations would normally require ten seconds—or dozens of seconds—between them.
"Hmm?"
While he analyzed the situation, Ogerpon's power surged yet again.
This ti, even though she held back, Lilligant was still blasted backward.
If Victini hadn't been supplying infinite energy to repair her damage, the shockwave alone could have caused serious injury.
"Stop!"
Sora imdiately called off the match.
"Poné."
Ogerpon obeyed at once.
The mont he spoke, she halted and dispersed the vine clubs in her hands.
She showed no pride in victory.
Instead, she hurried to Lilligant's side and carefully checked her condition.
The kind little oni valued her companions above all else.
Hurting Lilligant for real was the last thing she wanted.
