"Ponii!"

With Sora placing such trust in her, Ogerpon—already brimming with fighting spirit—completely ignited.

And this ti, it wasn't a taphor.

She was literally burning.

"Don't use the Hearthfla Mask. Volcanion is Water/Fire-type—Fire attacks will only deal a quarter of the damage."

"Ponii?"

Realizing her mistake, Ogerpon hurriedly removed the mask.

Volcanion was the only Pokémon with both Water and Fire typing.

This unique combination gave it trendous defensive advantages.

Against Ogerpon—

Fire-type moves would only deal ¼ damage.

Water-type moves?

Because of Volcanion's Water Absorb Ability, they wouldn't just fail—they'd actually restore its HP.

As ntioned before, Abilities weren't truly absolute in the real world.

There was no such thing as complete immunity in the strictest sense.

However—

Volcanion's level was simply too high.

Its Water Absorb was so powerful that even attacks from level 80 or even level 90 "true gods" couldn't break through that "absolute" immunity.

That left Grass-type attacks, which could deal normal damage.

And Rock-type—

Which dealt super-effective damage against both Water and Fire.

Previously, Ogerpon hadn't used the Cornerstone Mask and had held back.

She had saved that option—

For this very battle.

"Switch to the Wellspring Mask."

While the Cornerstone Mask had strong offense, it wasn't ideal as an opening.

So Sora chose to play it safe first.

"Hm?"

Across from her, Volcanion stayed on guard.

"She changed masks?"

It had no prior information about Ogerpon.

This was its first ti encountering such a Pokémon.

They had fought twice before—

And both tis, it had been on the receiving end.

But those two strikes—

Their pain was unforgettable.

I can't let her hit .

Volcanion was resolute.

I need to keep my distance.

With that thought, steam burst from the pipes on its back.

Like a jet engine, it propelled itself into the sky.

In the blink of an eye—

Volcanion was already a hundred ters away.

Boom!

Two massive Water Cannons shot across the distance.

Carrying enough force to shatter rock—

They slamd straight toward Ogerpon, who had just summoned her Ivy Cudgel.

Perfect!

Seeing his attack connect, Volcanion inwardly praised his strategy.

"Doo-doo…"

Magearna, however, watched anxiously, worried Volcanion might hit too hard and injure Ogerpon.

Princess Kimia and her Gardevoir felt the sa.

They had seen Volcanion's power firsthand.

Even a simple move like Water Gun—

In Volcanion's hands—

Was like a force capable of leveling mountains.

Where the attack passed, it carved out a trench nearly ten ters wide.

Kimia couldn't help but gasp.

"I knew it."

Yet Sora showed no panic.

He almost wanted to laugh.

Volcanion choosing a Water-type move to test Ogerpon's range—

Played right into his hands.

"Ponii~~"

Ogerpon stood within the torrent.

She lowered her stance, driving the Ivy Cudgel into the ground like an anchor—

Like a reef against crashing waves.

The Water Cannon roared over her—

Yet she didn't move an inch.

"…What?!"

Volcanion couldn't believe it.

No one understood the power of that attack better than him.

That Water Cannon had been full strength.

So why—

Did it do nothing?

Water Absorb!!

If it were another Pokémon, they might not realize imdiately.

But Volcanion itself possessed the sa Ability.

The mont it saw the faint green glow of vitality around Ogerpon as she bathed in the water—

It understood.

She had the sa Ability.

This is bad.

Water Absorb nullified Water-type moves and converted them into healing.

If another Pokémon had it, Volcanion wouldn't care.

Before overwhelming power, Abilities ant little.

But—

His opponent was Ogerpon.

At level 79, yet displaying such traits—

She couldn't be ignored.

"So it really is Water Absorb…"

Kimia was equally shocked.

"A Grass-type Pokémon with a Water-type Ability…?"

"How is that possible?"

Her gaze fell on the blue mask Ogerpon wore.

"…Is it because of the mask?"

"Is this your confidence in challenging ?"

Volcanion ceased using Water Cannon.

There was no point wasting energy.

"You're underestimating !"

Once again, he fired twin streams of water.

"Still Water-type moves?"

Kimia was confused—

But Sora reacted instantly.

"Dodge it! Then switch to the Hearthfla Mask!"

"Ponii!"

This ti, Ogerpon didn't stand still.

She darted aside, nimbly evading the streams as they pursued her.

At the sa ti—

She pulled out a crimson mask and swapped it on.

"It changed!"

In Volcanion's eyes—

Ogerpon's cloak color and aura shifted dramatically.

The red cloak radiated sothing entirely different.

This ti—

He felt Fire-type energy.

"I see!"

Volcanion believed he had uncovered her secret.

Attribute switching.

This small Pokémon possessed an extraordinary ability.

"You won't get close!"

Volcanion continued firing streams of water—

Keeping her locked beyond fifty ters.

That distance—

Was outside the reach of that terrifying club.

Safe.

Hisssss—

Where the water passed, steam rose thickly.

"It's Scald!"

Kimia recognized the move.

Though categorized as Water-type—

Scald was far more complex.

Water Absorb could nullify its Water damage—

But the heat remained.

Even a Pokémon with Water Absorb—

Would still suffer from the intense temperature.
