"ow?"
"It looks like nothing is going to happen for now. We can just leave it to the humans to handle," Will said, shaking his head. He had no intention of investigating. If the weather had changed, the humans would be the first to check it out. Their technology was better and more precise for finding the cause of such phenona. For Pokémon like them, there were basically no counterasures, so there was no point in wasting energy.
"ow," owscarada nodded. These things were for Will to decide. She just needed to play without a care in the world.
"Snover," the Snover pointed to the distant snowy mountain and then turned to look at Will.
"How do you know the cause is on the mountain?" Will asked, looking at it strangely.
"Sno-ver..." the Snover explained with its hands. It said that when it used to live on the mountain, it had seen a big creature there, and the area around it was just like this. At that ti, the big creature was sleeping. It must have woken up now for the weather to change so drastically even at the foot of the mountain.
"...What did this big guy look like?"
"Snover."
The Snover began to describe it, adding that it was always sleeping in an underground cave. It had seen it three or four tis over the past half-year, and it was sleeping every ti.
"...Regice," Will muttered with a frown.
One of the legendary "Regi Trio," an Ice Pillar God. From a player's perspective, it wasn't that strong, a bottom-tier lesser legendary. But a "god" was still a "god." However, the Regice created by Regigigas was definitely not this one. The original three were supposed to be guarding the Tree of Beginning in the Kanto region.
Is this Brandon's Regice, or one from Galar? Or one that has never appeared in the original story? Will mused.
He clearly rembered that the King of the Titans, Regigigas, was hidden in Snowpoint Temple, in the northernmost part of Sinnoh. But he had never heard of a Regice being nearby.
"Snover?"
"What? You'll be frozen into an ice cube," Will was stunned. This Snover was truly audacious, wanting to go and cuddle with a Regice. A Regice's body is surrounded by an aura of -200 degrees Celsius; anything it touches will instantly freeze. If this little guy touched it, he'd be frozen solid.
"Sno~ver~"
The Snover was insistent. And it didn't dare to go alone, afraid the Regice might be a bad guy. It insisted on dragging Will along.
"Even if you bring , we probably can't beat that thing," Will sighed helplessly. His Lv. 60 wasn't low, but who knew how long that Regice had been alive?
"Snover~" the Snover remained firm. The Snorunt, as usual, said nothing.
"ow~" owscarada also ca over to join the fun. She was very curious what kind of creature could make even Will think he might not be able to win.
"...Alright. If that thing has a bad temper, we run imdiately," Will sighed. Although he said he didn't want to go, as a transmigrator, how could he not be curious about what a Legendary Pokémon looked like? He had been in this world for so long and had never seen one.
"Snover!"
"ow!"
Snover and owscarada raised their arms in victory. The Snorunt, after so consideration, ran to hide by Will's leg.
And so, led by the Snover, the four Pokémon began to head up the snowy mountain. As they reached the middle-to-high section, they were surprised to find that there was no wind! Down below, the wind had been raging, blasting them with ice crystals and snow. But up here, there was no wind at all. The ice crystals in the sky fell silently, vertically, their trajectory perfectly straight.
"Looks like we're close," Will murmured, raising his guard.
His worries were not unfounded. The older a Legendary Pokémon was, the worse its temper tended to be. The Creation Trio were a pri example. If one of them entered another's territory, the other would instantly explode and attack relentlessly.
"Snover!" Just then, the Snover suddenly pointed.
Will looked in that direction, and his eyes widened. They had found their target.
"Regice..." he muttered.
On the snowfield ahead, a translucent ice pillar stood motionless. In a one-ter radius around its feet, the soft snow had frozen into a hard layer of ice.
"Sno-ver~" The Snover was a real character. It started shouting at the Regice from a distance.
Whoosh.
The Regice turned its massive body, and the seven yellow dots on its "face" flashed as it looked at them. But even after seeing them, it had no intention of moving, just sitting quietly in place.
"ow?" owscarada tilted her head. She really wasn't sure if this giant ice cube was even a Pokémon. She couldn't see any emotion on it. She couldn't even find its face, let alone read its expression.
"Sno-ver~" The Snover grabbed Will's hand and began to drag him forward.
"I can walk by myself. I'll stay with you. You don't have to be afraid I'll run away," Will sighed helplessly, shaking his head. He really didn't know whether to call this Snover brave or cowardly.
The distance between them gradually closed. As they got closer, Will saw that this Regice was bigger than he had thought, standing seven or eight ters tall, more than twice his own height. He knew the Pokédex data for Regice was only 1.8 ters.
Thump. Thump.
For so unknown reason, as they got closer, the Regice took two steps back, putting so distance between them.
"Snover?" The Snover tilted its head and took two more steps forward. The Regice took two more steps back.
The Snover froze, looking up at it. The Regice lowered its head and t its gaze. Suddenly, as if they had exchanged a secret signal, the Snover let go of Will and charged at the Regice on its two short legs. The Regice imdiately turned and ran, its huge, clumsy body lumbering away.
Will and owscarada were completely baffled by the scene. A one-ter-tall Snover was chasing an eight-ter-tall Regice all over the snowfield like a cat chasing a mouse.
Will couldn't watch anymore. He reached out and scooped up the Snover.
"Snover-ver!" it struggled, wanting to get back on the ground. It refused to believe it couldn't catch this big pillar today.
"Alright. There must be a reason it doesn't want you to get close," Will said, tapping the Snover on the head. He could see it now. Although he didn't know what the Regice was thinking, this big pillar was not a bad guy.
"ow?" owscarada stood to the side, looking at the Regice. Although it looked the sa as before, she felt a sense of vigilance and caution coming from it. She suddenly found this big pillar quite interesting.
"Snover?" the Snover asked, unwilling to give up. Why is the big pillar running?
Will didn't speak, just looked at the Regice. He knew so of the reason, as it was written in the Pokédex. But his experience had taught him that many things in the Pokédex weren't very realistic.
The Regice heard them. It looked down, glanced left and right, and then walked over to a rock that was over three ters tall. It raised one of its hands and gently touched it.
Instantly, the rock began to freeze rapidly. In just a few seconds, it was a solid block of ice.
"Snover?!" The Snover was terrified by this sight. It imagined what would have happened if it had actually managed to hug the Regice. It would have been frozen solid, too.
"Sno..." The Snorunt also found this ability terrifying. It quickly took two steps back and hid behind Will, peeking out with just one eye.
"ow," owscarada's mouth fell open. She looked at Will. It freezes whatever it touches. No wonder even you said you couldn't beat this thing.
On the other side, the Regice, seeing their reaction, lowered its head. It looked at the frozen rock, then at its own hands, and stood there in a daze for a long ti. No one knew what was going through its mind.
"So what the Pokédex said was true," Will said, shaking his head as he looked at the frozen rock. This racial trait was incredibly powerful in battle. But in everyday life... it must be very painful. To never be able to embrace the one you love.
