"ROOARR!"
At that mont, a dragon's roar shook the sky.
One could see a terrifying sky-blue energy beginning to gather on Charleon's body, slowly enveloping its entire figure.
"Y-you've got to be kidding ?"
"That move is... Dragon Rush?"
Seeing how Charleon released an increasingly intense wave of energy, Ethan Black was shocked and quickly gave orders: "Sandslash, use Heavy Spin (Rapid Spin Gyro Ball)!"
At that mont, Sandslash also felt the threat coming from Charleon and did not dare lower its guard. It began to spin rapidly on its axis, executing the move Rapid Spin.
In an instant, a gale swept across the field, and a sort of tornado began to form, showing how incredibly high its rotation speed was. After beginning the spin, its body was covered in Steel-type energy, and under a tallic glow, its entire figure was wrapped in that energy: it had activated the move Gyro Ball!
Boom!
At the sa ti, Charleon finally unleashed the move Dragon Rush. Its silhouette beca completely wrapped in an illusory dragon figure, and stomping the ground with force, it even tore up an entire layer of earth, leaving behind a huge crater!
"Let's go, Sandslash!" Ethan Black's eyes sharpened.
In the blink of an eye, Charleon, wrapped in the dragon figure, lunged at Sandslash, breaking through the gale generated by Rapid Spin and colliding directly with it.
Boom!
A violent impact occurred: the Gyro Ball at maximum speed and the Dragon Rush collided, generating a continuous clash of trendous energies in the air.
Then, the Gyro Ball began to act like a grinding wheel, rubbing against the illusory dragon figure, wearing it down little by little.
Boom!
Another explosion rang out in the field. The recoil force of the Gyro Ball sent Charleon flying into the air like a kite with its string cut, crashing headfirst into the ground.
The wind from Rapid Spin quickly cleared away the smoke from the explosion. Sandslash stopped its rotation and fell heavily to the ground, sitting down, panting hard. Clearly, it no longer had much energy left to continue battling.
"Well done, Sandslash!"
Seeing how Sandslash had managed to combine Rapid Spin and Gyro Ball, Ethan Black smiled with satisfaction. At last, after so much special training, it had mastered the ability to execute two moves at once.
Using Rapid Spin and Gyro Ball simultaneously had greatly increased the rotation speed, to the point of blocking and countering Dragon Rush. The effect in battle was astounding!
After praising Sandslash and giving it a nutrient juice as a reward, Ethan Black turned his gaze toward Charleon.
"Kekeke..."
Just as Ethan Black was about to approach to check on it, a sinister laugh echoed. A Gengar erged from the ground, glanced at Ethan Black, then at Charleon, grabbed it by one foot, lifted it upside down, and flew into the sky with it, disappearing in an instant.
"I guess that must be its partner..." murmured Ethan Black, surprised, but without pursuing them.
In this Pokémon breeding zone, all those who lived there were Pokémon temporarily left behind by trainers, and safety was guaranteed.
"No doubt... this is the university's interdiate campus."
"Even a Pokémon raised freely here has such impressive talent and power..."
"It seems that interdiate-level trainers are not so simple. Surely many already have advanced-level strength, but to beco an advanced-level trainer, strength alone isn't enough..."
After the battle, Ethan Black found a clearing to rest with his two Pokémon, while in his mind his caution increased.
At first, he believed his strength was among the highest of the interdiate-level trainers, but after fighting Charleon, he realized that even a substitute Pokémon could be on par with his Sandslash.
To beco an advanced-level trainer, he would need six Pokémon of that caliber and to pass the corresponding exam. The path ahead was long.
"Sandslash and Cacturne, as my main fully-trained Pokémon, should already be ready for the advanced-level exam."
"So my training now must focus on Shellder, ltan, Shuckle, and Trapinch. Only if all of them reach Sandslash's level will I have real chances."
"Besides, Shuckle right now is more of a support Pokémon. Its nutrient juice, along with the moves Acupressure and Helping Hand, help the team a lot... but for the advanced-level exam, I might need to capture another main Pokémon."
Ethan Black reflected as he looked toward the valley, planning his path for the advanced-level trainer exam.
This world was so vast... He didn't want to remain stuck at the interdiate level. Only by becoming a Pokémon Hunter could he freely explore the unknown.
After a brief rest, Ethan Black resud his way toward the interdiate campus. Passing through the valley, he was greeted by a wide plain.
Lifting his gaze, he could see the plain was surrounded by mountains, barely visible as silhouettes in the distance. At the exact center of the plain stood the interdiate campus of the Pokémon University of Ironvale City.
"There's still a long way to go..." Ethan Black sighed, massaging his sore feet. More and more, he felt the urgency of training a riding Pokémon.
He was an ordinary human, not a prodigy with a monstrous physique. Continuing to walk like this would eventually wear him down.
"Cac, cac, cac..."
Cacturne, noticing his fatigue, thought for a mont and pointed to its own shoulder.
"You want to sit on your shoulders?" asked Ethan Black, looking at the Pokémon that was even shorter than him and covered in green diamond-shaped protrusions. His face darkened.
If only Cacturne were as big as Togemon, the Digimon, then he could ride on it like Mimi...
But in its current state, better not. Even if it had the strength to carry him, the image would be far too ridiculous to look at.
