A profound silence blanketed the Indigo League stadium, the air thick with the aftermath of Alakazam's cataclysmic Psybeam. The waterlogged battlefield stead where Mystique had fallen, faint wisps of psychic energy curling upward like ghosts.

The arena's protective barriers—psychic shields designed to shield the audience—flickered wildly, their purple glow flaring brighter than ever to contain the raw power that had just erupted. Alakazam lay crumpled beside Sabrina, spoons scattered, while Mystique rested unconscious in the flood. A double knockout—an ending no one had foreseen.

The announcer's voice shattered the hush, trembling with disbelief. "What was that, folks?! Alakazam just unleashed a Psybeam that could've leveled a mountain—out of this world, I tell ya! And did you see Sabrina's eyes glowing like twin moons? How did she juice him up like that? So many questions buzzing in my head, but here's the score—a double knockout! But Sabrina had just lost her ace and Gladion still has his Machamp who is yet to show up!"

The crowd stirred, whispers swelling into a roar of awe and confusion. Eyes darted between Sabrina, kneeling by Alakazam, and Gladion, who stood with a mix of respect and anticipation.

High in the VIP stands, Professor Samuel Oak leaned forward, his bushy brow arched, a spark of excitent dancing in his eyes. The old researcher's mind whirred, piecing together what he'd just witnessed.

'Remarkable,' Oak thought, stroking his chin.

'That surge—Alakazam's power spiked beyond its natural limits, fueled by Sabrina's psychic energy. I've seen echoes of this before… the Infinite Wars, decades ago.' He recalled a Kalosian trainer, a grizzled veteran with a Charizard that defied logic—evolving past its final form into a blazing, black-scaled titan.

'ga Evolution, they called it, though no one knew how he did it. All we knew that it was a temporary transformation that fatigud both the trainer and the Pokémon.' Oak had puzzled over it for years, the mory a tantalizing mystery.

'This isn't quite the sa—no transformation, no physical shift, not a massive increase in strength—but the energy signature? Identical. Sabrina and Alakazam were in perfect sync, their bond amplifying him beyond reason. Friendship, trust, unity—could that be the key?' He scribbled a note on his pad, grinning. 'If only I had a sample of that Kalosian's trick—Indigo is about to stumble into sothing big.'

On the field, Sabrina rose, brushing damp hair from her face. She'd lost Alakazam, her ace, but Slowbro and Exeggutor remained. Gladion had Guy, Colossus, and one more up his sleeve—beasts she couldn't underestimate. Her jaw tightened. 'I'll make him sweat for it,' she vowed, her earlier resolve burning bright.

Gladion, anwhile, reached for his next Poké Ball, his grin returning with a vengeance. "Ti to wrap this up. Guy, let's finish strong!"

The Machamp burst onto the scene with a theatrical flex, four arms rippling as he roared, his green uniform gleaming like a champion wrestler's. Water splashed around his feet, but Guy didn't care—he was here to dominate. Sabrina's eyes flicked to Slowbro's Poké Ball, then Exeggutor's. Slowbro's poison weakened it, but Exeggutor could still fight. "Exeggutor, go!"

The Coconut Pokémon lumbered forth, its trio of heads swaying, roots sloshing through the flood. Sabrina struck first. "Leaf Storm!"

Exeggutor roared, unleashing a verdant tempest. Gladion smirked. "Guy, Dynamic Punch!"

Guy charged, fists glowing as he waded through the leafy onslaught. The storm battered him, but he shrugged it off, muscles bulging with youthful vigor. With a mighty swing, he landed a Dynamic Punch square on Exeggutor's trunk. The force sent the palm-tree Pokémon reeling, confusion clouding its heads as it staggered and toppled into the water, out cold.

"Exeggutor is unable to battle!" the referee called. "Sabrina's down to one!"

Sabrina recalled Exeggutor, her expression unreadable. Slowbro was her last stand—poisoned but stubborn. "Slowbro, go!"

The Water-Psychic Pokémon splashed in, yawning despite the Toxic gnawing at it. "Surf!" Sabrina ordered. A wave surged, but Guy was ready. "Cross Chop!" Gladion shouted. Guy leaped, slicing through the water with crossed arms, landing a critical hit on Slowbro's shell. The dopey Pokémon groaned, poison and power overwhelming it, and slumped into the flood.

"Slowbro is unable to battle! Sabrina's team is eliminated—Gladion Vortex advances to the finals!"

The crowd erupted, a tidal wave of cheers washing over the stadium. Guy flexed triumphantly, striking a pose that would've made Might Guy proud. Gladion pumped a fist, then turned to Sabrina, striding through the water with a grin. She t him halfway, her face stern but her eyes softer than usual.

Gladion extended a hand, his tone warm and genuine. "You've improved, Sabrina—both as a trainer and a person. I'm proud to be your guide on this wild ride." He sniffed dramatically, wiping an imaginary tear. "My little psychic prodigy, all grown up!"

Sabrina's eyebrow twitched, and she gripped his hand with just enough force to make him wince. "Guide? Don't flatter yourself, Vortex. I'm not so lost Pidgey you've shepherded—I'd have crushed you if Alakazam hadn't decided to nap mid-battle!" She smirked, a rare crack in her icy facade. "Next ti, I'll bury you so deep in psychic tricks you'll think you're the Slowbro. Not my Slowbro though, he is a good boy"

Gladion laughed, shaking off the grip. "Oh, I'm shaking—bring a bigger spoon next ti! But seriously, that was one hell of a fight. You almost had ."

"Almost doesn't win," she shot back, but her smirk lingered, a spark of camaraderie in her glare. "Enjoy your finals—I'll be watching you trip over your own ego. I would be cheering for your sister anyways."

"Only if you're there to catch !" he quipped, dodging as she swatted at him playfully. The crowd chuckled, catching the exchange on the jumbotron, a rare glimpse of Sabrina's humanity.

As they parted, the stadium's focus shifted. It was ti for the next semi finals.

---Minutes Later---

The other semifinal concluded, and the announcer's voice bood once more. "We have our second finalist, folks! Gwenyth Vortex has just clinched her match with a stunning victory! And boy, are we in for a treat—two siblings, Gladion and Gwen, battling it out to beco Kanto's top trainer this year!"

The stadium buzzed, the promise of a Vortex showdown igniting the air. Gladion glanced skyward, a mix of pride and mischief in his eyes.

'Gwen, huh? Not that I doubted her. She has the sa blood as after all. Ti to see who's the real champ in the family.'
