After the two legendaries revealed themselves, a heavy silence fell over the battlefield. No one moved. No Pokémon growled. Even the wind seed to stop.
So Team Rocket mbers dropped to their knees. Their eyes looked empty, like they already knew their end had co. The pure presence of two legendary dragons crushed their spirits. They could not fight. They could only wait for the inevitable.
Gladion watched them with cold satisfaction. 'You love using legendaries to cause chaos,' he thought with dark mirth. 'Now feel their real wrath on yourselves for once.'
The silence broke when one grunt fell forward and started crying. "This is it. We are done. I never told my mom I was sorry for leaving ho."
Another grunt stared at the sky and laughed without joy. "This cannot be real. Legendary Pokémon in Poké Balls? That is impossible. No trainer can do that."
A third whispered in shock. "No one should command legendaries. It is against nature. We are nothing compared to them."
Another voice shook. "I joined Team Rocket because I had nowhere else. They gave food and a uniform. Now I die for Pokemon eggs I never even saw."
A woman near the back sobbed. "I wanted power because the world was cruel to . But this power is too much. We are ants in front of that."
Few grunts trembled on the ground. They had joined Team Rocket for different reasons. So needed protection from debts or rivals. So had no family and wanted to belong sowhere. Team Rocket offered strength and a place in the world.
Giovanni spoke of making Kanto great. He hated Johto's control. Many believed him. Others just wanted to break laws without punishnt. They stole, cheated, and hurt because no one could stop them.
But true power stood before them now. Legendary dragons that could erase cities. Their borrowed strength felt like nothing.
Their weapons and Pokémon seed like toys. They had no grand dream like Giovanni. They were just small criminals hiding behind a big na. Now the real legends looked at them with anger.
A higher-ranking executive saw his people breaking. He shouted to wake them up. "Fight, you fools! If we give up we die anyway! At least fight so so of us can escape!"
He pointed at Gladion. "There are hundreds of us! Thousands of Pokémon! Even legendaries cannot fight forever! Attack together!"
His words worked. Eyes hardened again. Hands reached for Poké Balls. Hope returned, small but burning.
While this happened, Latias scanned the base with her psychic senses.
She spoke in Gladion's mind. "I found the eggs. They are hidden deep underground behind a strong psychic barrier. A very strong barrier that prevents anyone to sense them. Well..... I don't think that they accounted for legendary power."
She continued. "This base has more Team Rocket mbers than you thought. But no one is guarding the eggs directly. It is strange. Almost like they do not know the eggs are there."
Gladion started to think about the situation, but the attack ca before he could think further.
Hundreds of Pokémon fired at once. Flathrower, Thunderbolt, Shadow Ball, Hyper Beam. The sky filled with light and sound.
Latios moved in front. Blue energy ford a perfect barrier. Every attack hit and vanished. Not one reached Gladion or Elder Green.
Latias gathered pink and purple energy in front of her. She was ready to fire Dragon Pulse.
Latios warned gently. "Careful with the eggs below."
Latias answered. "They are very deep below. They are also being protected by a psychic barrier and I strengthened the barrier myself when I was checking it out. So don't you worry that the eggs would remain safe."
After replying to her lover, She released the attack.
A thick beam of dragon energy struck the ground where a lot of team rocket mbers had gathered. Then the world exploded.
BOOM.
The sound hit like a wall. The ground jumped. A do of pink-purple light rose hundreds of tres high. Wind scread outward and knocked people off their feet even far away. Rock and tal flew like paper.
When Latios cleared the smoke with psychic wind, nothing remained where the beam hit.
Only black glass and ash covered a circle two hundred tres wide. About a hundred Team Rocket mbers and their Pokémon had stood there. Now only gray dust drifted in the wind. No bodies. No screams. Just empty, burned earth that still glowed with heat.
The remaining Team Rocket forces stared in complete silence. Their faces were white. So dropped weapons. Others fell to their knees again. The motivation that they had just got disappeared.
The sll of burned air filled their noses. They understood true legendary power now. One attack had erased a hundred lives without effort.
Gladion looked at the destruction and felt no pity.
Latias though did not wait for team rocket mbers to recover or had any pity for them either.
She charged a second dragon pulse much to the horror of the team rocket mbers and released in another direction. So team rocket mbers ordered their Pokemon to counter with their own moves or form barriers but all was for naught as another explosion took the lives of another fifty or so team rocket mbers.
