The massive Dragonite let out a satisfied burp, patting its swollen belly with both hands.
"You really can eat…"
Sam muttered, staring at the giant Dragonite.
A single Pokéblock could keep a Snorlax full, yet this Dragonite had swallowed more than thirty without stopping.
Still, it made sense.
The creature was nearly ten tis larger than an ordinary Snorlax.
"Aw~~"
Hearing Sam's complaint, the giant Dragonite scratched its head with an innocent look.
Through his aura, Sam realized that the Dragonite wasn't being greedy; it had been trying to show its goodwill.
That only made Sam's impression of it even better.
He stopped holding back and said directly, "Big guy, you want a better future?"
The Dragonite blinked at him, confused but curious.
"If you co with ," Sam continued, striking while the iron was hot,
"I promise you'll eat well every single day."
"Aw!!"
The Dragonite's eyes lit up, but then it shifted its gaze toward the Pokémon beside Sam.
It wasn't dumb.
It was understood that Sam wanted to capture it.
And Dragonite would never bow to anyone, unless they proved themselves in battle.
"Aw~~!!"
The giant Dragonite roared, its wings flaring wide.
Sam smirked. He caught the aning imdiately.
"So, a battle first, huh? Fine. Let's fight."
Darkrai floated forward at Sam's signal, its form flickering like a shadow.
The playful look vanished from Dragonite's face.
Power surged around it, and the aura of a legendary Pokémon erupted like a storm.
Even the clouds over the island seed to scatter.
Darkrai answered with a hiss, shrouding itself in an eerie mist as its own power condensed.
The pressure of two titanic Pokémon clashing filled the air.
Sam stood calmly between them, his eyes sharp and focused.
This was the kind of trial he had been waiting for.
Sam no longer hesitated.
Dragonite's sheer presence was enough to make most trainers back down, but now he had the courage to face it head-on.
Darkrai floated forward, shrouded in its ominous mist.
Sam's voice rang out, steady and sharp:
"Darkrai, Haze, then Nasty Plot!"
"Hissss…!"
Darkrai's body rippled with shadow.
Dense black Haze spilled out, covering the battlefield in seconds.
Hidden within the darkness, its power began to climb rapidly, energy condensing faster and sharper with every passing mont.
From above, Dragonite roared.
Its wings flared, whipping up a violent Twister.
The storm tore across the island, ripping trees from the ground and scattering rocks.
The Haze was shredded apart for a mont, revealing Darkrai's figure, but just as quickly, the mist swirled back together, cloaking the nightmare Pokémon once more.
"Awrrr!!"
Dragonite's expression hardened.
Dragon energy burst from its body, shaping into a colossal spectral dragon that lunged straight into the rolling Haze.
At the sa ti, a beam of crackling darkness shot out from within, Darkrai's Dark Pulse.
The two attacks collided.
BOOOOM!!!
The shockwave shook the entire island.
Trees snapped like twigs, and chunks of earth were blasted skyward.
Sam shielded his eyes from the debris but didn't move from his spot.
His gaze stayed locked on Dragonite.
"Good… keep pressing," he muttered.
Dragonite, however, was far from finished.
The giant beat its wings again, gathering more dragon energy around its body.
Sparks of raw power flickered across its scales as it prepared another crushing blow.
Sam's lips curled into a thin smile.
He could read the flow of the fight; the behemoth had walked straight into his trap.
"Darkrai, turn back. Luca, now!"
With a flash, Lucario darted forward, aura blazing around its body.
While Dragonite focused on the swirling Haze, the aura warrior leapt high, palms glowing with force.
"Force Palm!"
Lucario struck from the blind spot created by Darkrai's mist.
The blow landed square against Dragonite's wing joint, making the titan stagger midair.
"Awrrr!!!"
The giant let out a furious roar, its energy surging even higher.
But before it could counterattack,
A sharp cry echoed across the battlefield.
Silver spread its wings.
A wave of psychic energy rippled outward, layering with Darkrai's shadows and Lucario's aura.
The three Pokémon stood together, their combined pressure pushing back against the overwhelming might of the legendary Dragonite.
Sam raised his hand, his voice firm and unshaken.
"Now… let's show him our strength."
