Silas was quietly kicking himself at this mont, how had he managed to forget this person?

Hardly anyone knew the old man's real na anymore.

Just as he himself said, people usually called him Mr Pokémon, to the point that his true na had long faded into obscurity.

It was much like Professor Oak—everyone knew him as Professor Oak, but very few people actually knew the na Samuel Oak.

At the very least, ordinary people would never deliberately call him "Professor Samuel Oak," because in their minds, there was only one Professor Oak.

Which, unfortunately, made things difficult for the other mbers of the Oak family who were also Pokémon Professors.

This man had been a close friend of Professor Oak for many, many years.

Their greatest similarity was their overwhelming interest in and love for Pokémon.

Mr Pokémon himself was also an expert who researched Pokémon.

However, unlike Professor Oak, who stayed in the Kanto region year-round and only occasionally went out for field research Mr Pokémon was extrely fond of traveling all over the world.

This likely had a lot to do with their respective responsibilities.

As a regional professor, Professor Oak simply couldn't spare that much free ti to travel freely.

The reason Silas hadn't thought of him at first was entirely because Mr Pokémon spent most of the year traveling; Silas never expected him to be in the Johto region.

"Co in and sit for a while. You look like you could use so rest."

Mr Pokémon warmly invited Silas into his room.

Following him inside, Silas discovered that the interior was just as plain as the exterior.

"Hahaha, pretty simple, isn't it?

Since I'm always traveling between different regions, I don't live here often, so I never bothered to make the place too nice."

Seeing Silas looking around,Mr Pokémon said cheerfully.

"No, not at all."

Silas waved his hands repeatedly in embarrassnt.

Questioning the décor the mont he entered an elder's ho felt rather impolite.

It was just that, aside from a bed and a tea table, there really didn't seem to be anything else inside, which genuinely surprised him.

"It's fine. Have a seat."

Mr Pokémon knelt down in front of the tea table, slowly lifted the kettle, and began brewing tea.

Although there were a few stools placed in the corner, they didn't really seem appropriate to sit on, so Silas awkwardly sat down cross-legged.

An English-style gentleman paired with this kind of sitting posture and the act of brewing tea, made the entire scene feel oddly amusing to him.

"Here, have so tea."

Mr Pokémon handed a cup to Silas.

"Thank you very much."

Silas quickly accepted it with both hands and took a sip.

It was green tea—slightly bitter, yet fragrant and refreshing. He felt his spirits lift imdiately.

Even the hoarseness in his throat from waking up early felt much better.

"Tastes good, doesn't it? This is a specialty from Ecruteak City's Rainbow Tower. Ordinary people can't get their hands on it."

Mr Pokémon's personality was very similar to the other two professors Silas knew—both had that playful, childlike side. Right now, he was clearly showing off his prized tea.

"Yes, it's excellent."

Hearing Silas's response, Mr Pokémon looked even happier.

He then began telling Silas about his travels over the many years, occasionally pulling out the magazines and commorative coins he had collected to show him.

Despite it being their first eting, there wasn't the slightest hint of awkwardness or discomfort in their conversation.

It had to be said, this was probably a matter of fate.

In Mr Pokémon's stories were not only the customs and cultures of various regions, but also many different tales involving Legendary Pokémon.

If Silas didn't already have a solid understanding of these topics, he probably wouldn't have recognized many of the nas Mr Pokemon casually dropped.

"Not bad, not bad. Young people like you are rare these days."

After more than an hour, Mr Pokémon finally stopped, still wanting more, and generously praised Silas.

These words ca straight from the heart.

Having traveled through so many regions and experienced so much, he had only t a handful of people at Silas's age with such broad knowledge.

And several of them had been so-called psychics.

Soone like Silas was truly one of a kind.

"I'm just average."

Silas replied modestly.

That said, when it ca to mory, his ability to rember anything at a glance in this life had never lost to anyone.

The only problem was, as he himself admitted his intelligence sotis couldn't keep up with that ability, making his reactions seem slow at tis.

Probably just a processor compatibility issue.

"Alright, I won't take up too much more of your ti. Young people like you should spend your ti on more aningful journeys.

When you've walked more roads, you'll see more scenery and you'll grow even more eager for life itself."

Mr Pokémon suddenly turned poetic.

He set his teacup down, stood up, and walked over to the bedside, taking out a small box.

"This is the item Oak asked you to co get."

He turned around and handed the box to Silas.

"You don't want to open it and see what's inside?"

Seeing Silas prepare to put the box straight into his Bag, Mr Pokémon was a little surprised.

"Uh… I'm just delivering it, so there's no need, right?"

Silas scratched his head as he replied.

Although he was extrely curious about what was inside, as he said, whether he looked or not didn't really matter.

"I think I know why Oak felt comfortable letting you handle this, hahaha."

Mr Pokémon froze for a mont, then burst into hearty laughter.

But Silas didn't have ti to think about why he was laughing, because he discovered that the unremarkable box in his hands wouldn't go into his Bag at all.

"This is…?"

Silas looked up at Mr Pokémon, confusion evident in his eyes.

He had never encountered sothing like this before.

"And that's exactly why Oak had to ask soone to personally bring it back."

Mr Pokémon slowly sat down again and took another sip of tea.

"The item inside cannot be stored or transferred using any kind of spatial technology.

It can only be passed on through direct, physical carrying, the most primitive thod."

The GS Ball.

That was Silas's first thought.

After all, in the ani, that thing had appeared far too abruptly and without explanation.

But he clearly rembered that it was Professor Ivy who discovered it, wasn't it?

Very quickly, Mr Pokémon's explanation answered that question.

"Strictly speaking, the thing inside doesn't belong to either. Just like you, I'm only a middleman."

Mr Pokémon joked about himself without the slightest concern.

When it ca to researching the item inside the box, he readily admitted that he wasn't nearly as professional as so of his old friends, this simply wasn't his area of expertise.

"It was discovered by Professor Ivy of the Orange Islands during a chance incident.

The strange property it possesses—resisting the concept of space, piqued Ivy's curiosity. She conducted quite a bit of research on it, but ultimately found nothing.

So she passed it on to Oak, hoping he could analyze it. But Oak is always busy. He then pushed the problem onto a professor nad Mohn, who lives far away in Alola.

A large part of why I went to Alola this ti was to help deliver the item to him and then bring it back."

With the simplest explanation, Mr Pokémon laid out the full background of the item inside the box.

Professor Ivy was also an old friend of Professor Oak, so it was perfectly normal for Mr Pokémon to be acquainted with her.

In fact, figures like Agatha, Kurt, and the Day-Care Couple—several well-known elders of the previous generation, were all close friends in private.

"Then… did Professor Mohn co up with any results?"

Silas asked instinctively.

He truly wasn't familiar with Professor Mohn.

But based on Mr Pokémon's description, he seed like a capable Pokémon Professor—perhaps a future regional professor of the Alola Pokémon League?

"Don't even ntion it."

At this, Mr Pokémon looked quite helpless.

"You know how far Alola is from here. After I finally got there, the locals told that Professor Mohn had gone missing and was still being searched for."

Ah…

Silas imdiately ruled out the possibility of Professor Mohn becoming Alola's future regional professor.

Judging from Mr Pokémon's tone, the professor was most likely lost for good—probably not surviving until the establishnt of the Alola League.

"Fortunately, Alola is an island region. I traveled across several islands and really experienced the local customs and culture, so at least the trip wasn't wasted.

Oh, right and the Pokémon there are also very different from the Pokémon we're familiar with here."

As he talked about his ti in Alola, Mr Pokémon subconsciously began to ramble again.

But in the next mont, as if he rembered sothing, he forcibly cut the topic short.

"Anyway, after staying there for half a year and still not finding Professor Mohn—he was officially declared deceased, I had no choice but to bring the box back with ."

As he spoke, Mr Pokémon refilled the now-empty teacup in front of him.

Silas nodded in understanding.

"You still don't want to know what's inside?"

Mr Pokémon found this even stranger now.

"Uh… I do want to know. But even if I know, it doesn't really help, does it?"

Silas replied honestly. He obviously couldn't say that he already knew what was inside.

"You can open it and take a look. It's not anything particularly valuable, its properties are just a bit unusual."

Mr Pokémon said casually.

At least, that was how he saw it.

Silas thought about it and agreed. In his mory, aside from being impossible to open and impossible to transmit, the GS Ball didn't really have anything special about it.

So, at Mr Pokémon's signal, he unlocked the box.

Inside sat a Poké Ball—its upper half gold, its lower half silver. Slightly above the central button was a blurred marking resembling the letters 'GS.'

As expected.

Silas nodded inwardly.

"As you can see, it's just a Poké Ball. Ivy likes to call it the GS Ball because the marking looks like those letters.

But I personally prefer calling it the Gold and Silver Ball. Don't you think that fits its colors better?"

Mr Pokémon introduced the unusual Poké Ball to Silas.

"Yes, yes."

Silas nodded like a woodpecker.

When it ca to making elderly people happy, he was highly experienced and professionally skilled.

"I knew it~"

Mr Pokémon agreed wholeheartedly.

"But Professor Oak didn't tell when I should bring it back, did he?"

Now that he knew it was the GS Ball, Silas naturally tucked it into the inner pocket of his clothes.

This thing was practically immune to spatial storage anyway.

He then asked Mr Pokémon about the logistics of his role as a courier.

"When?" Mr Pokemon thought for a mont. "I rember Oak's exact words were sothing like this:

'A promising young man will co help retrieve that Poké Ball tomorrow.

Have him bring it to the next ti he returns to the lab.'"

As he spoke, Mr Pokémon nodded, confirming his mory.

The next ti I return to the lab…

That would be after the Silver Conference next year.

Silas was speechless.

Professor Oak's approach only reinforced Silas's belief that the GS Ball really wasn't all that important.

If it were truly valuable, no matter how much Oak trusted Silas, he wouldn't leave it in his care knowing Silas wouldn't return for roughly a year.

This had nothing to do with trust, Professor Oak simply had better options.

"Alright, I understand."

As for his courier job turning into being a living safe, Silas didn't mind at all. It was just carrying an item, he'd treat it as a Johto souvenir.

What neither Silas nor Mr Pokémon noticed was that, inside the sealed box, the half-gold, half-silver GS Ball trembled slightly, as if alive, the instant it was placed against Silas's body.

"Then I won't disturb you any longer."

After chatting a bit more, Silas took his leave.

"Hey—wait."

Mr Pokémon called out to him.

"I have a small gift for you."

eting Silas's curious gaze, Mr Pokémon smiled as if recalling sothing pleasant.

He walked back to his bedside and rummaged through a nightstand that resembled a treasure chest, pulling out a bag of Apricorns and a snow-white Pokémon Egg.

"I rember that along the normal route ahead, Kurt is in Azalea Town, right?

You can give these to him and have him make so high-quality Poké Balls for you."

Mr Pokémon raised the bag in his left hand.

"As for this, this was entrusted to by a great mother during one of my travels.

Personally, I think you have what it takes to take good care of it."

When he spoke of the Pokémon Egg in his right arm, there was an unmistakable hint of nostalgia in his voice.
