Now reading: Chapter 80 80: Cerulean City from Pokemon: Bounty Hunter, a Action novel by Takeiteasy.

"Finally made it to Cerulean City, huh!" Silas stretched and sipped his coffee, talking to himself.

After having Pidgeot drop him off at the designated landing zone outside the city, he had now arrived at Cerulean City's Pokémon Center. His room was booked, and he'd already made a reservation to challenge the local Gym.

Co on, he had long since conquered his fear of heights he wasn't so coward.

The main issue was that in his previous life, he'd fallen from a high place and developed a psychological trauma. Even though his physical condition was much better in this life, he wasn't about to test whether dropping from hundreds of ters would kill him or not. He wasn't so humanoid Pokémon like a Fighting-type after all.

However, as Pidgeot's body grew even larger and his trust in its strength increased after all, even if he fell from several hundred ters, Pidgeot would have more than enough ti to catch him he began traveling by riding directly on Pidgeot's back.

And the more he rode, the more he realized just how amazing it felt.

When you're hundreds of ters in the air looking down, every mountain, forest, and lake below appears in full view. It really lifted his spirits.

The only downside was that he needed a pair of windproof goggles and had to secure himself well. Otherwise, with Pidgeot's speed, he'd be teary-eyed and flailing in the wind even though, for Pidgeot, this pace was basically a leisurely stroll.

Still, the pros far outweighed the cons. Not only did this save a lot of ti, but he'd also sold his electric bike and bought a regular bicycle instead.

Land-based transport was still occasionally necessary there were places Pidgeot simply couldn't go.

Speaking of which, he wondered what it'd feel like riding on Carupt's back. Would it be hard and uncomfortable? He'd have to try it soti.

Silas rubbed the cold coffee cup in his hands, lost in thought.

He couldn't stay in a state of constant high-intensity training forever. Neither he nor his Pokémon could handle that kind of strain physically or ntally.

Balance was the key to proper training tension and relaxation in turn.

So maybe the bicycle wasn't totally useless after all. No, no it was definitely useful. He could use it to warm up alongside Blaziken. Better than running by himself, at least.

His thoughts bounced around rapidly.

Who am I? Where did I co from? Where am I going?

He was starting to feel like a philosopher.

His Blaziken, more humanoid in shape, was currently sitting at the table with him outside its Poké Ball.

The sleek and powerful final evolution of a starter Pokémon inevitably drew many envious and admiring stares.

Blaziken happily squinted its eyes as it munched on a delicious yet mostly aesthetic berry salad. As expected of Nurse Joy's signature dish here at Cerulean City's Pokémon Center it was excellent.

As for its Trainer, currently staring blankly into space and looking completely burned out, Blaziken wasn't the least bit surprised. This wasn't its first ti seeing him like this. It was used to it. It understood.

Boys would have off days too, after all.

Ding-dong~

That sound could only an a Gym appointnt reply had arrived.

But Silas was still off in la-la land.

Blaziken silently extended a claw toward his coffee cup, tapped it, then quickly withdrew its paw and popped a sliced berry into its beak.

"Ahh, hot!" Crash!

Silas's shout and the sound of the coffee cup shattering ca almost simultaneously.

They instantly drew a bunch of strange looks.

Nurse Joy quickly ca over. She gave him a small scolding for being so clumsy, cleaned up the ss, and left.

Apologizing profusely to her, Silas was baffled.

It was the middle of sumr. He'd specifically ordered iced coffee. Why did it suddenly feel hot just now?

Once Nurse Joy had left, Silas squinted at Blaziken. The Fire-type maintained its usual neutral expression, continuing to eat its fruit salad.

Sensing his gaze, it tilted its head in confusion.

What's up, boss? Sothing wrong?

Silas could practically read the expression.

If it wasn't Blaziken, then who? Surely w wouldn't be playing pranks on him… right?

He shook his head. Actually, that wouldn't be a bad thing. Maybe he could find a way to kidnap it one day.

Oh right there was that Gym reservation notification earlier.

Silas quickly pulled up the info on his wrist device.

After reading it, he scratched his head.

Why was the Cerulean Gym battle scheduled for 10 a.m. tomorrow? He had clearly made the reservation at around 1 p.m.

Normally, the process should only take a few hours. When he'd challenged Pewter Gym, he got a slot by around 4 p.m., which matched League protocols. Unless the Gym was swamped with challengers, wait tis weren't supposed to be this long.

Was Cerulean Gym really that popular? He hadn't seen anything about that on the forums.

He was a bit puzzled, but there wasn't much he could do. Tomorrow it is, then—not much difference anyway.

Actually, that ant he had the afternoon free to look around the city. He'd thought he wouldn't have the ti.

"Let's go out and explore a bit."

After Blaziken finished the last bite of salad, Silas said to it.

"Blaz," it replied.

Blaziken nodded. However, wasn't the boss not too fond of high temperatures? Though the current thirty-sothing-degree weather didn't an much to it, it probably felt quite hot for a human.

Sure enough, the mont the automatic doors of the Pokémon Center slid open, a wave of heat surged straight in.

Silas, who had just stepped out, decisively pulled his foot back.

After thinking it over, he walked to a shop inside that sold ice cream and quickly picked out a large Miltank vanilla cream ice cream—with extra strawberries.

He nodded in satisfaction. Perfect.

Then he put on a sunhat and leisurely stepped out of the center. The first mouthful of ice cream instantly cooled down the oppressive heat of the sumr afternoon.

Right after Silas walked out, the ice cream shop welcod a rather peculiar custor.

"Ma'am, you've been picking for nearly an hour. Please, could you make a decision?" the server pleaded bitterly.

"Hmm… durian flavor sounds nice, but strawberry looks good too. Then again, vanilla is a classic that never goes out of style…" the girl muttered to herself.

The server looked like he was on the verge of tears.

At that mont, Silas was in a great mood, walking through Cerulean City, the city of water. Feeling a sudden sense of interest, he hired a boatman to take him on a river tour.

"You look like a powerful Trainer, young man. Blaziken isn't sothing you see every day. I've been doing this job for years and haven't seen many of them," the boatman said cheerfully.

"Haha, not really, still got a long way to go. Could you tell a bit about Cerulean City, sir?" Silas replied modestly, chuckling.

"Sure thing!" the boatman grinned and pushed the oar, and the little boat began to move.

"I'll tell you about a few places Trainers like you usually enjoy.

First off, over there is the Berry Powder House. You know that one, right? It's a famous specialty of Cerulean City. The drinks made by mixing berries in certain ratios are great for raising Pokémon.

Then there's the Move Tutor Hall over that way. Rumor has it, the Gym Leader of Cerulean Gym occasionally shows up there too.

And over there is...
