After being escorted to the waiting room by the staff, Silas prepared for his second official Gym battle.

"Welco to Cerulean Gym, Trainer Silas from Viridian City," greeted a young woman, lifting her skirt slightly and curtsying gracefully. Her deanor exuded the poise of a refined lady.

"I am your opponent for today's Gym battle, Daisy."

Silas returned the gesture with a bow. "Greetings, Miss Daisy. I've heard much about you. You truly live up to your reputation as the jewel of Cerulean Gym more radiant in person than the tales suggest."

Daisy chuckled, partially hiding her face behind a fan. "You're too kind. I don't think I have much of a reputation. But you I've heard about you for quite so ti. My younger sisters often ntion you when chatting with Brock. Seeing you now, I must say you're quite impressive. Have you considered joining our Cerulean Gym?"

Silas smiled politely, deflecting the offer. Though the relationship between Pewter and Cerulean Gyms was amicable, he had no intention of entangling himself in potential complications.

After all, if the depiction of Cerulean Gym in the previous life's ani held any truth, it likely suffered significant setbacks in recent years, leading to its decline. Only Misty's eventual rise as a Water-type master salvaged the Gym from being delisted by the League.

In informal discussions on Pokémon forums, the three sisters of Cerulean Gym were unanimously described as "beautiful." As for their skills and talents as Trainers, most knowledgeable individuals believed that nature balanced its gifts—bestowing beauty while withholding other attributes.

Currently, many were curious about the youngest sister's potential. So skeptics even hoped she mirrored her elder sisters in every way.

After so light-hearted banter, Daisy, noticing Silas's polite but non-committal responses, shifted the conversation to the battle rules. The match would follow the standard 2-on-2 Gym battle format.

Once the preliminaries concluded, the referee, who had been standing by, raised a flag and announced, "The battle between Cerulean Gym's Daisy and Viridian City's Silas begins now!"

"Go, Goldeen!"Daisy declared, releasing her Pokémon.

"Go, Blaziken!" Silas responded, choosing his Fire-type partner.

For this challenge, Silas had registered Blaziken and Boldore. On paper, this was a disadvantageous matchup against the Water-specialized Cerulean Gym.

However, Gym battles were designed to match the challenger's strength within certain limits. It wouldn't be fair for a Gym to counter a near-Elite-level Trainer with equally powerful Pokémon.

The requirent of eight official Gym Badges for tournant participation primarily served to filter out underprepared Trainers. If a challenger demonstrated sufficient strength, the Gym had no reason to unnecessarily hinder their progress.

Typically, Gym Pokémon capped at around level 37, aligning with the final evolution stages of most species.

Based on this, Silas registered his Boldore at level 26 and Blaziken at level 39. Consequently, Cerulean Gym's Pokémon would likely be around levels 29 and 37, adhering to the standard of one Standard and one Advance-level Pokémon, ensuring a fair challenge.

Given this setup, Silas's Boldore, with Elite potential, and Combusken, with Champion potential, still held a significant advantage. Even if energy levels were similar, disparities in skills, physical attributes, and overall prowess remained evident.

"Flathrower!" Silas commanded, initiating the battle with a standard opening move.

"Dive underwater," Sakura instructed calmly. While few Trainers dared to challenge Cerulean Gym with Fire-types, it wasn't unprecedented. Moreover, in this Water-dominated arena, evading such attacks was relatively straightforward.

As the fiery blast approached, Goldeen deftly subrged, avoiding any damage.

Currently, Silas was battling in Cerulean Gym's primary arena, which resembled a large swimming pool.

In front of each Trainer's podium was a fixed platform where land-based Pokémon could stand. Besides that, several floating boards drifted on the water's surface.

For both Boldore and Blaziken, this terrain placed them at an inherent disadvantage particularly for Boldore, who had an extrely hard ti moving in this kind of environnt.

However, Silas showed no concern at all.

"Flathrower—repeat fire."

Blaziken unleashed jet after jet of fla toward the water's surface. As the intense fire t the water, a loud hissing noise echoed through the air.

"Ssshhh—!"

Thick mist began to cover the battlefield.

In this foggy environnt, Daisy didn't dare let Goldeen surface to launch any attacks. It was far too easy for it to get hit.

Even though Fire-type moves usually didn't deal much damage to Water-types like Goldeen, the difference in strength between the two still ant those attacks could pack a serious punch.

Especially when looking at Blaziken's flas Daisy could tell at a glance that the heat they gave off was no ordinary fire. She suspected Goldeen would take far more damage than she had initially estimated.

But letting the situation drag on like this would only put her at a greater disadvantage Daisy could at least judge that much.

"Use Water Pulse underwater! Stir up a wave to attack the opponent!"

As the battlefield beca increasingly shrouded in steam, Daisy made a decisive move. If she didn't act now, the referee might soon declare that her Pokémon had lost the will to fight.

Deep in the pool, Goldeen was already feeling quite uncomfortable. The heat from Blaziken's fire had noticeably ward the water.

If not for its Water Veil ability, Goldeen felt like it might've been cooked alive by now.

Hearing Daisy's command, it quickly ford a small sphere of energy between its horn and mouth. With a flick of its head, the sphere shot upward.

As it traveled, it sent vibrations through the surrounding water. Waves began to rise from the surface, forming a rolling surge that rushed toward Blaziken.

Daisy smiled with pride as she watched her strategy unfold.

This was her own unique twist on using Water Pulse. Instead of the traditional direct-hit thod, Goldeen utilized the battlefield's terrain to generate waves with minimal energy consumption achieving maximum effect. At least, that's what Daisy believed.

"Heat Wave."

Silas responded smoothly, directing Blaziken to counter the incoming water.

Back when Blaziken was still a Combusken, training at the White Cape Lighthouse, it had already started practicing using its moves to break or scatter small waves. These current waves were nothing more than splashes by comparison.

Silas honestly didn't know what Daisy was thinking. This attempt to creatively modify Water Pulse was completely ineffective. She would've been better off using more energy to generate a larger wave then at least it might've had so impact.

The most effective thod would've been to directly launch Water Pulse as intended. Pokémon moves evolved naturally over countless battles to beco what they were. You couldn't just casually change them and expect better results.
