Now reading: Chapter 85 85: If You Can't Beat Them, Call for Reinforcemen from Pokemon: Bounty Hunter, a Action novel by Takeiteasy.

That man just now his aura alone made it clear he was a bounty hunter who spent a lot of ti in the wild. It was a kind of intuition unique to those of the sa trade.

He was also collecting badges. Who knew maybe they'd cross paths at the League Conference.

Silas didn't think too much of it. He returned to the Pokémon Center and handed over his Blaziken to Nurse Joy for a quick recovery.

It didn't take long. After all, the Gym battle had been won without much damage, so there was no need to wait like usual.

Back in his room, just as he was about to start lunch, a notification sound ca from his wristwatch.

He glanced at it and imdiately picked up the call.

"Hello, this is Silas Alaric. What's the matter?"

"Good afternoon, Silas! It's Brock," ca the cheerful greeting from the other end.

"I figured. What's the urgency? Calling at this hour shouldn't you be busy taking care of your little brothers and sisters?"

Silas let himself collapse onto the sofa, speaking lazily.

Brock dropped the cheerful tone and chuckled awkwardly, asking, "Well, not really… I just wanted to ask what you did to Daisy. She called just now crying, saying you bullied her."

Silas's face turned into a big question mark. Was that even possible? Was this her version of calling for backup? But… Brock couldn't beat him either.

Brock on the other end of the line could feel the wave of malicious energy through the silence, just as he was about to say sothing.

"I just had a regular Gym battle. Maybe she felt humiliated after losing and couldn't handle it?" Silas replied calmly, cutting off Brock's train of thought.

Seriously? The eldest of the Cerulean Sisters had that little emotional resilience? Besides, wasn't she known for being average in strength anyway? That's why they sent Reggie to the S.S. Anne in the first place.

"Eh, forget it. It's nothing. That's just how she is—I'm used to it," Brock sighed. "Actually, all three of those sisters are like that."

"Then how co it seems like you get along with them pretty well?" Silas placed the wristwatch on the table, got up to pour himself a cup of coffee, took a sip, and asked casually.

"Well, it's because my old man has a great relationship with their grandfather. They traveled together back in the day."

"Ohhh, I know. You're talking about 'The Tyrant' and 'The Tidal Wave,' right? I've seen battle videos of them. Their styles definitely live up to their nicknas."

They continued chatting idly.

Through the conversation, Silas gradually ca to understand the current situation at the Cerulean Gym.

The main issue was that among the elder's descendants including his grandchildren none of them had beco particularly outstanding trainers. Or rather, they hadn't taken being a Pokémon Trainer as a serious profession at all.

The three Cerulean Sisters, for instance, were more interested in traveling and aquatic performances than in battling. Their talent as Trainers was minimal at best.

After all, raising Pokémon was one thing, but commanding them in battle was sothing else entirely.

The old man had remained in relatively good shape until recently and let them do whatever they liked. But as he got older and started to feel the effects of age, he began to worry about who would inherit the Gym.

Originally, Brock's interactions with the sisters had been limited to casual greetings now and then. But in recent years, the contact beca more frequent.

According to Brock's grandfather, it was to help "build rapport among the younger generation." Brock knew clearly that his grandfather was just trying to support the children of an old friend quietly assuring his friend that even if sothing went wrong, his descendants would lend a hand.

"But I heard from the Cerulean Gym's old man that his youngest granddaughter is quite talented. He's been personally training her, and the kid seems really into being a Trainer. I think her na's Misty? She only recently started learning the basics."

"Oh? That doesn't sound bad," Silas replied with a flat tone.

Hearing yet another na from the ani in this world didn't faze him anymore. Whatever it's not like everything from the previous life's show could be taken at face value.

Like the age difference, for example in the ani, Brock and Misty seed around the sa age, but now they were ten years apart.

So who knew whether the Cerulean Gym would end up the sa way as in the show? Whatever. It had nothing to do with him. He wasn't about to gamble on it not worth it.

"Yeah, she seems promising. But really, it has nothing to do with ."

Brock admitted that if it weren't for his grandfather, he wouldn't have bothered talking to them. Most of the ti, they hadn't even t in person just the occasional text or phone call.

Brock's personality was relatively gentle, so he did take care of them to so extent.

"By the way, aren't you heading to the Pokémon Academy in a few days?"

It was as if sothing had suddenly occurred to him, and he turned to ask Silas.

"Yeah, why?" Silas was a little puzzled. Shouldn't Brock have known this already?

He'd ntioned it to Brock before, and since the task ca from Professor Oak himself, the Pewter Gym backing Brock would've been notified well in advance.

"No reason. Just asking," Brock brushed it off with a chuckle. After chatting for a bit longer, Silas said he had things to do and excused himself. After saying goodbye, he hung up the phone.

He went back to preparing lunch for his three Pokémon. The three of them, already starving, had been silently pressuring Silas to end the call with Brock for quite a while.

Blaziken and Pidgeot were silently vowing to teach Onix and Geodude a lesson next ti. How dare their trainer delay alti? Unforgivable! Unforgivable!

Watching them stuff their faces like crazy, Silas felt as if his heart had been stuffed too.

Yeah… mostly because they were just too adorable. That's all. Don't get the wrong idea.

After lunch, Silas strolled out of the room and headed to the battle field behind the Pokémon Center.

He didn't have anything scheduled for the afternoon and wasn't in a rush to take on any new missions. The money he'd earned from his recent assignnts was still enough to last him a while.

Besides, he was heading out to the Pokémon Academy tomorrow. According to Professor Oak, the school would provide food and lodging for the entire week he'd be teaching there including for his Pokémon. That would save quite a bit of money.

As soon as he stepped onto the field, Silas saw a teenage boy arrogantly boasting, "I win again! So sorry hahahahaha!"

A crowd of onlookers had gathered nearby.

Silas didn't pay him much attention. There are plenty of guys like this. They win once and start acting all high and mighty.

"This young master is undefeated among my age group hahaha! Who's next? Beat and this check is yours!"

"I'm 17, okay? If you're 18 or older, don't even think about it!"

The boy was extrely arrogant, but at least he had enough sense to set a limit.

Silas raised an eyebrow. Oh? Soone's here to hand out free money. Got it.

But he wasn't in a rush. Since he just got there, he figured he'd observe the situation a bit first.

Sure enough, soone in the crowd couldn't take the boy's endless blabbering anymore and was clearly tempted by the amount written on that check so they volunteered to take up the challenge.
