Alex didn't think Elise would dare betray him as long as he kept a strong position, and there wasn't anything to gain for her. Similar to Daniel, her behaviour is at least rational and anticipable.
He would rather have a person with such a characteristic as a subordinate than a person who often reacts very emotionally.
