Gengar understood instantly. Laughing, it hurled Granny Silver toward the Giant Tentacruel.

"No! No—!" Granny Silver scread, wetting herself as she begged for rcy.

Sam watched coldly.

The Giant Tentacruel caught her with its tentacles. Before leaving, it turned its massive head and looked at Sam, as if carving his appearance into mory.

"Stab!"

With its command, the remaining Tentacool imdiately stopped attacking and gathered together. Once every last one had left the city, the Giant Tentacruel led them back into the sea.

"Stab."

Thank you.

Looking at the ruined city behind him, Sam fell silent.

There were no winners in this disaster.

A loud crashing sound ca through the phone—it sounded like a glass being smashed.

"Damn it!" Professor Oak growled.

"I understand, Sam," Professor Oak said grimly. "Don't worry. No one involved will escape the punishnt of the law."

After hanging up, Sam finally relaxed.

As an adult, he knew how complicated the world was. Even with a disaster of this scale, there would always be people trying to escape responsibility.
