Yo, 1500 stones, here is that extra Chapter
-----
Ash was sitting on the edge of the ship as they sailed across the sea. He was still recovering, about 75% back to full strength.
When the team first got on the ship and finally saw Ash, needless to say, the rest of the Rising Volt Tacklers were overjoyed. They basically jumped on him with hugs after hearing he was in town and had collapsed.
Murdock imdiately started feeding him since he'd heard Ash hadn't eaten for those three days and had been sleeping for two. Even though Ash had eaten after waking up, Murdock didn't care—he kept feeding him anyway.
Mollie and Orla had been helping out in town, so they didn't get to see Ash right away, but they sent their congratulations and imdiately banned him from stepping into the dbay to treat anyone else.
Ludlow gave Ash a few words of wisdom—he'd been there when Ash ran headfirst into the fight.
The crew also finally got to et Ash's friends: Misty, Brock, and Yellow. They hit it off well. Murdock and Brock bonded instantly—two bros who love to cook. Misty had been sitting with Ludlow, fishing beside him and enjoying being on a ship, talking about all things water-related.
As for Yellow... well, it's hard not to like Yellow. She and Liko were so similar—both introverts who had been adopted into their respective groups. Naturally, they got along, especially with Dot and Roy.
Ash watched all of them and smiled, his hat off as the sea breeze blew through his hair. Pikachu napped by his side, using Ash's hat to cover his eyes, while Vee snoozed peacefully in his lap. Ash gently patted Vee with the hand that didn't wear the ring—he didn't want to accidentally evolve him. Speaking of which, technically, he hadn't nad Vee Vee—he still just called him Eevee.
But Ash didn't usually nickna his Pokémon. Abby had been a special case.
Right now, Ash was gazing out at the water, where his Lapras and Misty's Lapras were swimming around happily. His Lapras looked particularly joyful, while Misty's was clearly glad to be out of her Pokéball—but still glaring at everyone else. Especially Misty.
Ash stretched his arms and stood up. Vee and Pikachu woke and yawned before padding along beside him as they strolled around the ship. Everyone else was busy with their tasks, but Ash eventually found Yellow, Liko, Roy, and Dot on the field.
He waved as he approached. "Yo, whatcha guys doing?"
Dot didn't look up from her screen, her fingers still dancing over the keys. "Roy's training, Liko's helping, Yellow's supervising, and I'm docunting how many tis Roy trips over his own feet. So far, we're at seven."
"Eight," Liko corrected as Roy stumbled trying to dodge a playful jet of water from her Sprigatito. "You forgot the part where he face-planted into the rail."
"I slid dramatically," Roy protested, cheeks puffing out as Cyndaquil chirped in agreent. "It was cool."
Yellow looked up from where she was sitting cross-legged with Chuchu in her lap and a sketchbook in hand. "Oh, y-yeah... well, it was nice, so I joined. A-and, you know, it's nice... I wanted to draw again."
"That's good," Ash said as he flopped onto the deck beside her, leaning back on his hands. "Been a while since we could just hang out like this, huh?"
Yellow nodded, smiling softly, her pencil pausing over the page. "Y-yeah... it's really nice."
Ash leaned over a bit and glanced at Yellow's sketchpad. She instinctively tried to hide it with her arm.
"Heyyy, no hiding! What're you drawing?" Ash said, poking her shoulder with his finger. "Co on~ show ~"
"J-just sothing dumb," she mumbled, a little flustered. But eventually, with a shy little sigh, she tilted it toward him.
Ash blinked. It was really good—a rough sketch of the deck, with Sprigatito pouncing on Cyndaquil.
"That's not dumb at all," he said, genuinely. "That's aweso."
Yellow flushed pink but smiled a little more. "Thanks..."
Then Ash looked up and saw Liko, Roy, and Dot. He finally noticed they each had more Pokémon than the original trio he'd seen last ti. Liko had her Hatenna sleeping in her hood, Roy had Wattrel perched on his head, and Dot had a little Tinkatink with a pink hamr.
"I just noticed you guys have new Pokémon," Ash said, tilting his head curiously.
Roy imdiately puffed up with pride, striking a pose that nearly made Wattrel slide off his head. "Yup! Wattrel showed up not long after you left. I helped him learn to fly, and we've been best buddies ever since!"
Dot looked up from her screen. "Tinkatink just kind of... followed . There was an incident with so tal, and she stole my mic—which she used to make her hamr. It's a really long story that involves a tal worm."
Liko helped Hatenna out of her hood. "Well, we found Hatenna in a mountain shack. She was scared and hurt, so I took her in. Actually, technically it was Sprigatito who convinced her to join ," she said, petting Sprigatito's head.
"Cool. Are there any other Pokémon you guys caught?" Ash asked, mainly eyeing Liko's bag, since he rembered seeing it shake back in the city.
"Ehhh..." Liko said nervously, glancing at Roy and Dot for support. She sighed and grabbed her bag, placing it in her lap. "Well... I trust you, so... promise to keep this a secret."
Ash and Yellow tilted their heads in confusion but nodded.
Liko took a breath. "Well, rember my pendant? Um... it's kinda hard to explain, but it turned... into this," she said, unzipping her bag. From it, a little turtle head popped out.
Ash's eyes widened. It was a Pokémon he recognized, Terapagos. It looked surprised, and inwardly Ash sighed, thinking, 'Man, I need to finish Horizons.'
But outwardly he looked up. "That's... not, I an..."
"Yep... had the sa reaction when I saw it," Liko said with a tiny grimace. "It, um, kinda lives in my bag now."
"It's called Terapagos, and that's why we're looking for Entei!" Roy chid in excitedly. "It's part of the six heroes, so we want Terapagos to get its strength back!"
"Trust , it's a long story. I don't fully understand it," Dot added, finally putting her phone down.
"Right, well," Ash said, scratching his cheek, "This is outta my paycheck. I won't push for more if you guys don't fully know either. I know the pain of trying to explain sothing you don't really get."
Liko rubbed the back of her neck. "It kind of just... happened. I didn't really ask for it."
Ash reached out a hand, and Terapagos looked at it before nuzzling into his palm, chirping happily. It glanced at Ash's ring but didn't react, though it did look up at Ash and tilt its head, like it recognized sothing.
"Okay, that's kinda weird," Ash said with a small chuckle, pulling his hand back slowly as Pikachu climbed onto his shoulder. "Feels like it knows or sothing."
"I thought the sa thing!" Liko said, looking a little relieved. "It does that sotis, just stares at like it's trying to rember sothing."
"Hey, it never looked at like that," Roy grumbled. "I really wish it did, though."
Yellow also tried to lean in to pet Terapagos, and it let her, but it wasn't as happy as it had been with Ash, "Oh... does it not like ?" she asked quietly.
"Now you know how I feel half the ti," Ash chuckled, giving her a soft elbow to the arm, sotis it felt like his Pokémon liked her more than him.
Then Roy suddenly stood up and pointed at Ash. "Ash, I just rembered, you promised a battle!"
Ash tilted his head. "I did? Huh, I guess technically I did... I forgot about that."
"Yeah! So co on! I want to get stronger so I can catch the Black Rayquaza!" Roy said enthusiastically.
Ash sighed, then stood up and stretched, Pikachu hopping down to the deck and doing a little warm-up stretch of his own, "But I'm still recovering," Ash said, rolling his shoulders. "So go easy on , alright?"
"No promises!" Roy bead, already rushing to the center of the deck where there was enough space for a small sparring match. "Wattrel, you ready?!"
Ash looked over at Vee. "You wanna take this one, Eevee?"
Vee slightly flinched, looking up at Ash with a complicated expression. Ash understood what he was worried about, "Don't worry. No, you don't have to use that. Just fight as you are. Or, if you don't want to, you don't have to."
Vee looked down for a second, then stood up on shaky paws and gave a firm nod. He trotted to the makeshift battlefield, tail twitching with nervous energy.
Yellow, Liko, and Dot moved to the side, sitting near the railing with their Pokémon gathering beside them. Terapagos clambered into Liko's lap and curled up like a stone with eyes. Pikachu hopped over to sit beside the girls.
"Okay!" Roy said, dramatically pointing. "Let's go, Wattrel! Use [Quick Attack]!"
Wattrel flew up into the air and dived toward Vee. Ash didn't flinch, "Alright, Eevee, do the sa [Quick Attack] to dodge, then [Swift]!"
Vee's body disappeared just as Wattrel hit the spot he had been. Then, from behind, Vee did a backflip and fired glowing stars from his fur, hitting the bird on the back.
Wattrel squawked, flapping wildly as it was knocked off balance mid-air by the stars. It dipped for a mont before catching itself, wings stretching wide to glide back into position.
Roy grinned. "Alright, nice move! But we're just getting started! Wattrel, [Air Cutter]!"
Wattrel flapped its wings rapidly, sending sharp blades of wind streaking through the air. Vee's eyes widened, and Ash quickly called out, "Dodge left and use [Double Team]!"
Vee ducked just in ti, the [Air Cutter] sliced past him, leaving tiny scratches on the deck. Then, in a flash of white light, multiple copies of Vee shimred into view, circling Wattrel from all directions.
Roy's eyes darted, trying to track the real one, "Uh, Wattrel, go with [Spark]! Just charge the nearest one!"
Wattrel's feathers lit up with electric energy as it dove toward a clone, only for it to vanish in a flicker. Another disappeared behind it.
Then the real Vee struck from behind, hitting Wattrel mid-dive with a solid [Tackle], sending the electric bird tumbling forward with a startled chirp.
Ash was watching closely. He noticed sothing, Wattrel's [Spark] got stronger when he dived down. That probably ant his Ability was Wind Power, not Volt Absorb.
Roy pointed to the sky dramatically. "Wattrel, fly high, then get ready for another [Spark]!"
Wattrel took flight again, soaring as high as he could before hitting the top barrier of the field. Then he dived down, electricity crackling across his wings as he descended. As he fell, the power only grew stronger.
Ash raised his hand calmly. "[Mimic]."
Vee smirked as his fur began to spark, copying the boosted [Spark] coming right at him. Needless to say, it caught everyone off guard.
"W-what?! It has that move?!" Roy gaped.
"I taught him a few things," Ash said with a smirk. "What do you think I was doing when I was locked up in that room?"
Vee dashed forward and leapt, eting Wattrel head-on mid-air.
The clash lit up the deck with a sudden burst of light, yellow sparks scattering like fireworks as the two collided. The impact sent both Pokémon flying back, but it was Wattrel who hit the deck hard, tumbling across the floor before skidding to a stop.
Vee landed more gracefully, though he stumbled and had to shake off the static still clinging to his fur.
Roy gasped and ran up. "Wattrel! Are you okay?!"
The bird Pokémon gave a dazed but determined chirp, flapping its wings weakly, still ready to fight. "Squaa!"
"Yes! That's what I like to hear!" Roy grinned, pumping his fist as he turned to Ash and Vee.
Ash glanced at Vee, who was breathing heavily but still standing strong. "You wanna keep going?"
Vee nodded firmly. "Vee, ve!"
"Alright then," Ash said, pointing his finger, the one with the ring on it.
The dial was still set to the Sun Stone, since that was the last one he'd used. He hadn't thought anything of it, Sun Stones couldn't evolve Eevee, after all.
He pointed toward Vee. "Alright, Eevee, use—"
But he stopped mid-sentence. His heart skipped a beat, Vee had started to glow.
Ash's eyes went wide. "Wait, no, no, no! Not now!" he shouted, stumbling forward in panic. The light surrounding Vee was too familiar, the telltale glow of evolution.
Everyone froze, The girls scrambled to their feet. Even Roy halted mid-command.
"Is that the ring?" Liko asked, eyes locked on the glowing Eevee.
"I—I didn't an to!" Ash blurted, holding up his hand and frantically turning the dial. "It was just on the Sun Stone setting! I thought it couldn't do anything!"
As the glow subsided, Vee stood there, now fully evolved into an Espeon.
Ash imdiately waved his hand at Roy, signaling to stop the match, then sprinted over.
"I'm sorry! I didn't an to do it! Does it hurt? I'm sorry, this is my fault!" Ash said in a rush, dropping to his knees in front of Vee, clearly distressed.
The others exchanged confused glances.
Did Ash not want Espeon? Why was he so scared?
Vee stood there in silence. His eyes had been shut tight, bracing for the pain that had always co with evolution. But this ti... nothing.
He cautiously peeked one eye open, then looked at his new body. He was an Espeon again... but it hadn't hurt. And that confused him.
Ash noticed the sa thing. The last ti Vee evolved, his body had twitched with pain, like he was tearing apart from the inside. But now... nothing. Just calm.
"D-Did it not hurt?" Ash asked in disbelief.
Vee looked down at his paws, then back up and shook his head. "Vee..."
"Um... Ash? Are you okay?" Yellow asked hesitantly.
Ash held up a finger, not looking away. "Sorry. Give a second."
He crouched closer, inspecting Vee carefully, "Can you turn back?"
Everyone blinked in confusion, "...Turn back?" Liko repeated.
To everyone's complete shock, Vee's body began to glow again, and he reverted into Eevee right before their eyes.
"EHHHHHHHH!!!" the four of them yelled in unison, loud enough to echo across the entire ship
Ash rubbed his chin, glancing at the ring, then back at Vee. "Can you try doing it on your own?"
Vee nodded, just as curious. If evolution always hurt before... maybe that changed? Or was it Ash.
He focused, body beginning to glow again, and evolved into Espeon, But this ti, there it was. The twitch. The pain. His eyes clenched shut as his body stiffened.
Quickly, he reverted back to Eevee, breathing a little harder.
Everyone watching was stunned and silent.
Ash narrowed his eyes and turned the dial on his ring to the Moon Stone setting. He pointed again. "Try now."
Vee started glowing again, evolving into an Umbreon. This ti, there was no twitch, no flinch. No pain. Just a smooth, painless transformation.
Vee looked at himself, surprised. Then he reverted again.
Ash stared at the ring, then at Vee. "So it doesn't hurt when I evolve you with the ring?"
Vee's eyes lit up. He nodded, a little bounce in his step now. The realization was sinking in, evolving didn't have to hurt. How could he not be excited?
Ash began testing every setting.
The Fire, Water, and Thunder Stones, Flareon, Vaporeon, Jolteon.
The Ice Stone, Glaceon.
The Leaf Stone, Leafeon.
The Dusk and Dawn Stones didn't do anything. But when Ash tried the Shiny Stone, Vee started to glow again. Ribbons of light extended from his body as he transford into Sylveon, and again, no pain.
Now in Sylveon form, Vee twirled with glee and bounded around, joyful. Then, with a quick shimr, he returned to his base form and launched himself into Ash's arms, nuzzling into his chest with a happy "Vee!"
Ash looked up... and realized everyone was staring.
"...Uh," he started, scratching the back of his head, "So... that happened."
The repeated flashes of evolution light had naturally drawn a crowd, everyone was there now.
From the railings, Misty pointed at him, still clutching her fishing rod. "No. We are NOT doing this. HOW?!"
"Would you believe if I said I just found him like this?" Ash offered with a sheepish grin.
Technically, he wasn't lying.
Still, the group shouted in unison: "NO!!!"
—
Later, in the dining room...
Everyone was seated around the table, still trying to process what they had just witnessed. Vee was curled in Ash's lap, looking a little bashful but calm.
Ash had explained everything, the Team Rocket lab, the experintation, the evolutions, and the pain Vee had suffered every ti he changed form on his own.
"So let get this straight..." Orla said slowly, notepad in hand. It was filled with frantic doodles of Vee's forms, half of them scribbled mid-transformation. "You have an Eevee that can evolve into every known evolution instantly... and turn back. Without a stone. Or a anything. Just... boop. Ring."
Dot stared at her drink, muttering under her breath, "Wow... just when I thought things couldn't get weirder."
Yellow looked over at Vee, who was now cautiously eyeing the group. "So... no wonder he didn't let pet him. He was scared..."
Mollie leaned forward, her tone thoughtful but concerned. "Are we sure there aren't any side effects? This isn't... normal. I could run a few scans, if you'd like."
Ash shook his head. "Already checked. And the Joy that took care of him ran tests too. Physically, he's just a normal Eevee... besides all this."
He gently patted Vee's back, and the little Eevee let out a content sound.
Roy raised a hand like he was in class, trying to puzzle it out. "Okay, okay, okay. So let get this straight..."
He pointed at Ash, then Vee, then the ring. "Your Eevee can evolve into every form and back whenever... and you can control it with that weird ring?"
"That is what I said," Ash nodded, glancing down at his ring.
"That is incredibly fascinating," Friede said, leaning forward. "I don't suppose you'd let examine it soti?"
Ash gave a sheepish shrug. "I would if I could... but I can't take it off."
There was a mont of silence as everyone processed that.
"Look," Ash continued, "We don't have to keep it a secret, everyone here knows now. I got this weird ring from Ho-Oh. Been trying to figure it out ever since. The reason it made Vee evolve like that is 'cause it absorbed so Evolution Stones I had. Now I can use them infinitely... I guess."
Liko touched her chin, thinking hard. "But with your ring, it doesn't hurt?"
Ash nodded slowly. "Yeah. Sohow... when I use it, it's like it bypasses whatever pain the mutation causes. Like the evolution is filtered through the ring's energy instead of Vee's own."
"That's..." Mollie murmured, her chin resting in her palm. "A little insane. But also incredible. I've never heard of anything like that."
"Still," Misty added, arms folded across her chest, "to think they were ssing with evolution like that... What were they even trying to do?"
Ash's expression darkened. He looked down at Vee in his lap. "I don't know. But whatever it was, it wasn't good. They left him there. Hooked up to wires. Alone. Like he was just a failed experint."
Vee let out a soft whine and tucked himself tighter into Ash's arms.
Yellow reached across the table, gently scratching Vee behind the ears. Her voice was soft. "You're not a failure. You're really brave."
Vee purred at the touch, his tail twitching gently, Pikachu, seated beside them, gave a solemn nod. He knew what it was like, he had also been part of a Team Rocket experint once. He'd gotten lucky. He escaped. But Vee didn't. A question lingered in Pikachu's head, 'What if I hadn't escaped? Would that have been too? What if I'm already like that and just don't know it?'
Ash rubbed Vee's back reassuringly. "At least now... it doesn't have to hurt anymore. And that's what matters."
Vee lifted his head and nodded eagerly. "Ve vee!"
Murdock suddenly stood up and clapped his hands. "Alright! Emotional heart-to-heart over! Who wants dessert? I'm makin' cake!"
A round of excited "!" and "Yes, please!" echoed around the room, with Roy and Pikachu practically bouncing in their seats from the re ntion of sugar.
As the room filled with the promise of cake and warmth, Liko glanced at the now-dozing Eevee on the table. "You know... it might get confusing if he's always evolving and we just keep calling him 'Eevee' every ti..."
Yellow lit up, clasping her hands together. "Oh! How about you give him a nickna? I know you don't usually do that, Ash, but... Vee is special, don't you think?"
Ash looked down at the small creature curled up in his arms, and smiled. "Yeah... I think you're right."
He looked back at the group. "Then how about... Vee. Vee, the anomalous Eevee."
Vee perked up at the sound of his na, tail wagging.
"Ve vee!"
