Watching the two little ones leave in high spirits, Julian sneered inwardly, 'You have no idea how hard I work at home while you two are out having fun.'

He then immediately pulled out his phone and said to Slowking, "Slowking, hurry and carry me up the ranks—let's duo queue. Today, I'm hitting Master. Those two noobs are still stuck in Diamond."

"Once our rank is two tiers above theirs, they won't be able to queue with us anymore. Then we won't have to play with those two scrubs ever again!"

Julian looked extremely smug.

'Heh heh, I'll grind you to death.'

Slowking took out its phone. As long as Julian's requests weren't too excessive, it would agree—and carrying Julian in ranked matches was something it was already very familiar with.

After opening the game, Julian immediately invited Slowking.

"Slowking, you go jungle, and I'll take top lane. Make sure to e gank for me."

After reminding Slowking, Julian instantly locked in Aggron for top lane. But seeing his pick, the opponent immediately chose Scizor.

"Damn, so shameless."

With Scizor's speed advantage, unless the opponent was truly terrible, they could pletely chip Aggron down bit by bit.

"Slowking, gank my lane more."

Julian added another reminder, feeling uneasy.

Slowking pletely ignored him.

In such low-level matches, it could pretty much run rampant.

For jungle, Slowking chose Kartana.

It even casually flashed its stats: 100 matches, 90% win rate, along with a minor national title.

This immediately drew pliments from the other three teammates.

Almost every hero Slowking played had a national title—either minor or major—and several were ranked number one nationwide.

When it came to gaming, Slowking could easily outplay most professional players.

Many pro teams had even approached Slowking before, only to be stunned upon learning that the player was a Pokémon.

Not that Pokémon couldn't play games—quite a few were pretty good at them—but a Pokémon as skilled as Slowking was extremely, extremely rare.

With Slowking's godly carrying, Julian quickly climbed to the Master rank.

"Slowking, keep going! Today I'm hitting 20 stars in Master!"

Julian shouted excitedly.

"Slow~"

Slowking nodded.

In the blink of an eye, three hours passed, and Julian successfully reached 20 stars in Master.

"Slow~"

Slowking: "Should we stop now?"

Julian, still riding high on his winning streak, quickly said, "Just a few more rounds!"

No sooner had he spoken than his phone was snatched away.

Looking up, he saw Love standing there fuming, his phone in hand.

"Dee~"

Love: "How long have you been playing? Do you want to ruin your eyes? If you bee nearsighted, you'll have to wear glasses!"

When Love had gone grocery shopping with Magearna, Julian was already playing. When they returned, he was still playing. Now, lunch was almost ready, and he still hadn't stopped.

At this point, Love had had enough. It took Julian's phone and glared at him with a stern expression.

Julian immediately backed down, putting on a flattering smile.

"Love, I was already done playing! It's all Slowking's fault. I wanted to stop earlier, but it insisted we keep going!"

Julian didn't hesitate for a second before throwing Slowking under the bus.

"Right, Slowking?"

Love looked at Slowking suspiciously. It felt that Slowking wasn't the type to do such a thing.

"Slow..."

Under Love's gaze, Slowking slowly nodded.

Forget it. After all, this guy was its Trainer. Even if he was a bit hopeless, he was still its Trainer. 'I, Slowking, will take this hit for you today.'

Seeing Slowking nod, Love hadn't even said anything yet when Julian immediately chimed in, "See, Love? Slowking's admitting it!"

"You really can't blame me for this. If you're going to scold anyone, scold Slowking."

Julian was truly going overboard. Slowking had taken the fall for him, and now he was kicking it while it was down.

Slowking was already regretting its decision, thinking maybe it should find a new Trainer. Whoever wanted this kind of Trainer could e and take him.

"Slowking, don't let this happen again," Love said before heading into the kitchen with Magearna to start preparing lunch.

Slowking nodded expressionlessly.

Watching Love leave, Julian quickly approached Slowking, his face full of gratitude and fawning admiration. "Slowking, you're truly noble! You really are my most trusted Pokémon, and the great steward of our little family here!"

What followed was a barrage of flattery.

Slowking's gloomy expression gradually brightened.

All of Julian's Pokémon shared a few mon traits: first, they were all quite possessive; second, they all had rather short tempers—at least when it came to outsiders.

The third trait was their love for praise, flattery, and pliments.

Even the wisest among them, Slowking, was not immune to this third point.

Of course, the one offering the praise and flattery had to be their own Trainer. If it were anyone else, they wouldn't give them the time of day.

"Slow~"

After being showered with Julian's flattery, even though Slowking knew it was all empty words, it couldn't help but enjoy hearing them.

Things like being his most trusted Pokémon, with Metagross only ranking second.

Or that the food Slowking made was his absolute favorite, even better than Love's.

These two pliments had hit Slowking right in its sweet spot.

Basking in this delightful mood, Slowking asked, "Want to keep playing?"

It pointed at the game interface.

Julian was tempted—after all, he was on a winning streak—but then he glanced at Love bustling about in the kitchen. If he got caught playing again, even using Slowking as a shield wouldn't save him.

"No, let's play in the afternoon. We'll play when Love goes to the backyard to hang the laundry."

Though tempted, Julian wasn't stupid.

Slowking nodded and put the phone away in its small backpack.

Julian, meanwhile, lay down on the sofa and started scrolling through his social media.

He hadn't liked any posts in a while, so he transformed into a liking machine.

He even came across posts from Celebi and Jirachi.

Celebi: "I've got money now! I'm rich!"

(Image: A screenshot of its account balance.)

Jirachi: "So much money... How should I spend it?😏" (smug emoji)

Julian revealed a mocking smile. After all this time with him, they still acted like they'd never seen money before. A mere few thousand bucks.

He left ments under both their posts.

"e back early." @Celebi

"Don't let Celebi lead you astray." @Jirachi

Soon, Celebi sent him a message.

Celebi: "None of your business!😛" (sticking out tongue emoji)

Jirachi: "Celebi said it's taking me to a foot spa. It said that's where men like to go the most. It even said we should book three sessions. Julian, what does "booking three sessions" mean?"

Looking at Jirachi's message, Julian felt that he had been far too lenient with Celebi.
