A surge of raw electricity exploded across Kael's battered body.

Pain lanced through him from every nerve ending.
The wool that normally stored his electrical charge had been burned to a crisp by Pignite's searing flas leaving the massive reservoir of energy with nowhere to go but out.
Bolts erupted in every direction, forming a chaotic, crackling domain of lightning within five ters of Kael.
Pignite skidded to a cautious halt at the very edge, unwilling to step into the storm.
Kael, however, felt no fear of the lightning it was his elent.
Think. Move. Or you die here.
He forced himself to his feet. The storm wouldn't last forever. When the wool's stored energy ran dry, his body would be defenseless. And Pignite would finish the job.
Flashes of his last life's death tore through his mind, threatening to shake his focus but Kael pushed them away, forcing his breathing to steady.
'No, if I'm going down, I'm taking you with .'
Pignite's body blazed crimson, the [Blaze] ability pushing its power to terrifying levels. Its red eyes locked on Kael's silhouette inside the lightning field, madness gleaming in every motion.
Then... the lightning storm began to shrink.
From the sidelines, Pignite's gaze sharpened, Running out of power, huh? This is it.
But Kael wasn't weakening.
The electricity was condensing pulling inward, compressing tighter and tighter around his form.
The sharp zzzz of overcharged current rang in the air like the cry of countless birds.
All of it flowed back into Kael, the charred wool giving way to a strange, liquid gold current electric plasma wrapping his body in a shimring, fluid armor.
The condensed energy coursed through every cell, forcing out the last dregs of his hidden potential.
Kael's eyes opened, now bright with power.
It worked...!
A move he had only imagined brought to life by desperation and sheer will.

In the control room, Kaise had risen to his feet, eyes wide. He didn't even realize he'd stopped breathing.

Pignite's instincts scread danger.
But in its frenzied state, it charged anyway.
BOOM!
The floor trembled as Pignite lunged forward in a second [Fla Charge] but the golden figure before it vanished in a blur of light.
Pignite stumbled, confused, whipping its head around—
"I'm right here!"
The voice ca from its flank.
Kael reappeared like living lightning, ramming his electrified horns into Pignite's side. The golden armor erupted in a violent burst of current, blasting Pignite off its feet and through the air.
Before the Fire/Fighting-type could even register the blow, Kael appeared above it, eyes blazing.
[Hidden Power]!
The deep-blue ring, now tinged with golden arcs, curved downward like a moonlit scythe.
WHAM!
The impact drove Pignite into the arena floor, the reinforced surface cracking and leaving a crater beneath it.
Pignite writhed, trapped under surging electricity.
Kael landed lightly, golden plasma scattering dust away from his hooves. His gaze was cold, rciless.
One more hit... and it's done.
The current built again, brighter and wilder than before coalescing into a sphere of pure destruction.
[Thunder Shock]!
The "sun" of lightning crashed downward in silence then detonated.
BOOM!
Light filled the room. When it faded, the sll of scorched earth and smoke lingered.

Kael didn't know how long he was out, but when he awoke, he was floating in a warm, viscous liquid.
His burns... gone. His body... stronger.
Blinking, he saw the glass walls of a healing pod filled with green fluid.
White-coated humans bustled nearby.
"Director, Subject DH3962 is awake!"
"Tell Kaise he's the one who sent it in."
"Yes, sir!"
The liquid drained from the pod, and with a hiss of steam, the glass split open.
Kaise stood waiting.

Even high-ranking operatives had co to him, asking about this Mareep.
