----

Kai first purchased two tickets before he and Sabrina passed through security and boarded the passenger ship.

They had tid their arrival perfectly.

Since this Island wasn't a major comrcial hub or densely populated area, large ships didn't dock there frequently.

Had they arrived just ten or fifteen minutes later and missed this particular ship, their next chance to reach Kumquat Island by sea wouldn't co until the following evening the next ti a ship with a similar route would pass through.

Above them, a few bird Pokémon soared through the sky, heading toward the Bug Forest. Whether they were searching for food or hunting Bug-type Pokémon, Kai couldn't say.

Ascending the gangway, Kai took a mont to survey the ship.

It wasn't particularly large likely a short-distance cruise ship that travelled between the Orange Islands rather than across major regions.

However, the luxury of its design was surprising.

Crystal chandeliers hung from the ceilings, casting a golden glow over the corridors. The walls were lined with elegant decorative pieces, and the centre of the deck was covered by a thick red carpet that extended into the main cabin.

"The Orange Islands really live up to their reputation as a tourist hotspot," Kai mused, admiring the detailed Kingdra-shaped handrails. Then, turning to Sabrina with a grin, he added, "Looks like choosing the ship over Charizard was a smart decision!"

Sabrina rolled her eyes at him, unimpressed, 'Seriously? I was the one who suggested this in the first place. Do you really need to sound so proud about it?'

Since they had booked a single-room suite with a double bed, Kai and Sabrina went to their cabin first to drop off their belongings before heading to the dining area.

Their relationship had long since progressed beyond the need for separate sleeping arrangents. While neither had explicitly stated anything, both had tacitly acknowledged that they were comfortable sharing the sa bed.

As they walked through the ship's corridors, Kai had to admit that travelling by sea had its perks.

While flying on Charizard would have been faster, travelling by ship was far more relaxing.

They could sit in plush seats, enjoy gourt als, and even watch TV while the journey unfolded.

There was no harsh wind, no risk of sudden storms, and no exhausting strain on their Pokémon.

That said, this type of travel was only enjoyable once in a while. If he got too comfortable, it would dull his edge as a Trainer. The constant training and challenges on the road were what truly strengthened his Pokémon.

Still, as he admired the opulence of the ship, he suddenly recalled another luxury cruise…

'The S.S. Anne…' Kai frowned at the thought.

That ship had sunk after Team Rocket's interference.

'Bad on. I should stop thinking about it and just hope this ship makes it to its destination safely'

By the ti they reached the dining hall, the handso man and elegant woman duo imdiately caught the attention of many passengers.

Their refined appearances and natural chemistry made them stand out.

So whispered among themselves, wondering if they were a couple. Others simply stole glances, unable to look away.

Kai, oblivious to the stares, pulled out a chair for Sabrina before calling a waiter over to order their al.

They went for sothing extravagant top-quality steak imported from the Paldea region, grilled to perfection and served with regional delicacies.

The al was costly, but worth every credit. The at was incredibly tender, and the side dishes paired perfectly.

As they dined, soft piano music played from a nearby stage, enhancing the elegant atmosphere.

Kai and Sabrina took their ti, savouring every bite.

Once they had eaten their fill, Kai leaned back in his chair, absently gazing out the window.

From their seat, they had a clear view of the deck at the back of the ship where a group of Trainers had gathered.

On the improvised battlefield, Trainers were taking turns battling each other, putting their skills to the test.

Seeing them drenched in sweat, fighting with all their might, Kai suddenly felt nostalgic.

"Ti really flies," he murmured. "I rember when I first arrived in Kanto from Kalos, all I had was Ralts. I used to be just like them training hard, battling on ships to grow stronger. Looking back, it was one of the best tis of my life."

Since Kai rarely spoke about his past, Sabrina listened intently.

She could imagine it a lone Trainer, travelling to a foreign land, stepping onto unknown soil to challenge himself. It couldn't have been easy.

Before she could respond, a wave of cheers erupted from the deck.

Their gazes shifted toward the commotion.

A Trainer had just secured his fifth consecutive win!

Winning five battles in a row ant he was stronger than most of the competition.

Kai looked at him more closely.

The Trainer appeared to be around 18 or 19 years old, dressed in a martial artist's uniform. His slightly ssy shoulder-length hair was tied back with a green headband.

But his attire gave him the appearance of a street fighter rather than a Pokémon Trainer.

Shifting her gaze back to Kai, Sabrina noticed the interest in his eyes.

"Let guess," she said softly. "He reminds you of your past self?"

Kai let out a small chuckle. "Our experiences are similar, but I'd say I'm better-looking than him."

Sabrina rolled her eyes. "Narcissist aren't you?"

Still, she couldn't help but laugh as well.

Then, in a quieter voice, she asked, "So? Are you planning to challenge him?"

Kai grinned. "I was thinking about it. Consider it post-al exercise. Want to join ?"

Sabrina didn't answer. She simply stood up, indicating that she would follow his lead.

Together, they exited the dining hall and made their way to the back deck, just as the martial artist defeated another opponent.

"That's six wins in a row!"

"He's too strong, no one can beat him!"

The crowd buzzed with conversation. The Trainer scanned the onlookers, searching for a new challenger.

"Another one down! So, who's next? Who wants to face ?"

Silence.

Everyone exchanged glances, but no one stepped forward.

The Trainer clicked his tongue in disappointnt.

"Tch, how boring!" he muttered.

Just as he was about to turn away, a calm voice erged from the back of the crowd.

"If no one else wants to step up, I'll take you on."
