For the first ti, the crowd of the Orange Islands fell completely silent.
The mont Gyarados roared, sending shockwaves across the stadium, the spectators instinctively covered their ears, their faces frozen in pure astonishnt.
My Arceus…!
"It's a red!?"
"It's shiny i think!"
"T-This Shiny Gyarados is terrifying!"
"Wow!!" Even the announcer, a professional at maintaining composure, was montarily stunned by the sheer ferocity of Gyarados.
But, like a true professional, he quickly snapped back into action, flipping through his notes.
"Ahem! According to our records, Kai's Gyarados demonstrated incredible strength during the Indigo League Tournant, defeating many formidable opponents! It left a lasting impression on many spectators what kind of performance will it bring us today!?"
Even the spectators sitting in the stands could feel the pressure emanating from Gyarados.
But the one suffering the most was Ditto.
As soon as it locked eyes with Gyarados' piercing gaze, its gel-like body trembled slightly.
It was afraid.
"Hesitating before the battle even begins!?"
Drake's expression hardened as he realized that Ditto was intimidated.
"Ditto! Don't back down! Transform, now!"
Ditto quickly shook off its fear, nodding at its Trainer's command.
Its soft, flexible body began to shift and expand, morphing into an exact replica of Gyarados.
Now, two Gyarados faced each other.
Their size, scars, and features were identical to an untrained eye, they looked exactly the sa.
But despite copying Gyarados' physical form and abilities, Ditto's eyes still lacked sothing of the savage intensity that made Kai's Gyarados truly terrifying.
Above the battlefield, the scoreboard lit up, displaying both Trainers' first Pokémon and their current battle status.
The referee stepped forward.
"Trainers, prepare yourselves!"
Kai and Drake both nodded slightly.
With a sharp motion, the referee swung the flags down signalling the official start of the battle!
The mont the match began, both Pokémon instinctively lunged toward the centre of the battlefield.
The large pool of water in the middle of the rocky terrain beca their battleground.
Both Pokémon arched their bodies before diving into the pool, vanishing beneath the surface.
For Water-type Pokémon, being in their elent was an undeniable advantage.
Ditto, now a copy of Gyarados, understood this well it needed to fight in water to maximize its power.
A few monts later, the two Gyarados surfaced at the sa ti.
Kai acted first.
"Gyarados, Hydro Pump!"
This wasn't a test attack Kai went for full power right away.
Drake remained calm.
"Ditto, use the sa move!"
Both Pokémon opened their mouths, generating high-pressure water blasts.
Once fully charged, they fired simultaneously, sending massive jets of water hurtling at each other!
BOOM!
The two Hydro Pumps collided, creating a massive explosion of mist and water droplets that showered the battlefield.
Kai had expected this.
He had never intended Hydro Pump to hit it was just a distraction.
Before the mist could fully settle, he gave his next command.
"Gyarados, charge in! Use Aqua Tail!"
With a powerful surge, Gyarados rushed forward, its tail coated in swirling water.
Drake, seeing Kai's aggressive strategy, once again mirrored his move.
"Ditto, Aqua Tail! Match its attack!"
Two colossal figures charged at each other.
For a brief mont, Drake hesitated.
'Wait… why is he using Water-type moves?'
If he knew Ditto had also copied the Water type, he should realize that the damage would be halved.
Kai wasn't the type to make careless mistakes.
So why was he doing this?
That thought lingered in his mind for only a second before—
CRASH!
Both Gyarados' tails clashed mid-air, sending water flying in all directions.
The collision was so powerful that waves ford across the pool.
"Incredible!" the announcer exclaid. "Both Gyarados are perfectly matched! It's a fierce battle of raw power!"
The crowd nodded in agreent.
For now, it seed like Kai's Gyarados and Drake's Ditto-Gyarados were evenly matched.
Even the announcer was starting to think that, while Kai's Gyarados was intimidating, it wasn't overwhelming Ditto.
But Kai knew better.
He smiled.
"Gyarados, let's show them your real power… let's go on a RAMPAGE!"
The mont Kai gave the command, Gyarados' eyes glead with fury.
"GRYOOOOOOOOOO!!!"
It let out a thunderous roar, its entire body trembling with uncontrollable rage.
Drake's expression darkened.
"Wait… Thrash?!"
Using Thrash ant losing control it was a risky move because, after a few attacks, Gyarados would beco confused.
If it failed to defeat Ditto in ti, then Kai's Gyarados would end up vulnerable!
"Is he making a mistake?"
Drake narrowed his eyes.
Sothing felt off.
On the battlefield, Gyarados' berserk form fully awakened.
With a furious roar, it thrashed violently, sending waves crashing in all directions.
Even Ditto-Gyarados instinctively recoiled sothing about the rage felt… different.
The crowd watched in awe and suspense.
Would this wild strategy work?
Or had Kai just played himself?
