----

Ti passed quickly.

At precisely 8:00 PM, the ceiling lights of the Ecruteak Dance Theater dimd into total darkness.

No one stirred. No one panicked.

Everyone knew the performance had begun.

A soft chanical click echoed from above, followed by the smooth hum of a projector. Twin images of Lugia and Ho-Oh appeared across the drawn curtain two Legendary Pokémon swirling in an elegant celestial spiral.

Then, slowly, the curtain began to rise.

As the images faded, the stage behind it was revealed bright, stunning, and adorned with golden light. A surge of thunderous, sweeping orchestral music erupted from the speakers, making the air hum with anticipation.

A golden rain of light fell from above, catching the eyes of every person in the crowd.

There, center stage, stood a young woman in an elegant black kimono. She moved with quiet grace, beginning to dance beneath the spotlight.

Kai felt the hair on his arms stand up.

The music. The lights. The atmosphere.

It was beautiful. And deliberate. Every detail is carefully crafted.

Beside him, Erika sat straighter, her expression calm but focused.

When Kai turned toward her, she nodded slightly. "This might be even better than I expected."

He smiled. "Yeah… this is legit."

Then, the woman on stage lifted her sleeve to her lips and began to speak.

"A long, long ti ago, the people of Ecruteak built two great towers…"

Her voice was soft and lodic, but carried across the entire hall.

"To the east—Bell Tower."

A spotlight illuminated the left pillar of the stage. Projected light ford an image of the majestic, nine-tiered Bell Tower.

"And to the west—Brass Tower."

Another spotlight lit the right pillar, revealing its twin.

"One day, two Legendary Pokémon arrived from beyond the skies. The rainbow-winged god of the Sky Ho-Oh and the guardian of the seas Lugia…"

As she narrated, the lighting and projections painted the tale in vivid color, drawing the entire crowd into the ancient Johto legend.

"Ho-Oh roosted atop the Bell Tower. Lugia atop the Brass Tower. And between Pokémon and people, a bond was born… a friendship that would last until the fateful night, 150 years ago, when the moon shone bright upon the towers."

With a sudden turn, the woman revealed a Poké Ball in her hand.

She released it.

A flash of light, and Umbreon appeared.

The moon ring on its forehead glowed brightly, and in perfect sync, a soft, ethereal moonlight bathed the stage. It felt as though the ceiling had opened to reveal the night sky.

The atmosphere shifted. The music slowed. A hush fell over the audience.

Kai leaned forward slightly, captivated just like everyone else.

The story continued. The woman in black faded into the wings, replaced by a second perforr.

This one wore a vibrant yellow kimono.

"150 years ago," she said, "Lugia's peaceful reign was shattered."

She raised a Poké Ball. A beam of light released Jolteon onto the stage.

A crackling flash burst from its fur, mimicking a sudden lightning strike. The stage lit up in bolts and booming sound.

"Thunder roared. Winds howled. A terrible storm consud the city… and a single lightning bolt struck the Brass Tower."

The projected tower lit up in flas, crackling and crashing beneath the force of simulated fire.

Next, a red-clad dancer ascended to the stage via a hidden lift. She stepped forward and released Flareon, who spun and sent jets of fla across the stage's periter.

The burning of the Brass Tower played out in vivid color and motion.

Smoke. Fire. Panic.

The music swelled to a desperate crescendo, and the three dancers began to move together arms raised, sleeves flowing, movents perfectly synchronized.

Kai was floored.

Everything from their choreography to the elental effects was choreographed with ticulous skill.

"They're matched to their Eeveelutions," he whispered to Erika.

She nodded. "Kimono color, too. Black with Umbreon, yellow with Jolteon… red for Flareon."

As if on cue, a blue-robed dancer stepped into view, gliding across the stage.

Her Vaporeon burst forth in a wave of shining water, flooding the stage in simulated rainfall and extinguishing the fire that still flickered at the set's edge.

Finally, a fifth girl, dressed in soft pink, took the stage, her fan fluttering delicately in her hand. At her side: Espeon.

Together, the five sisters ford a line, fans sweeping and feet gliding in perfect rhythm. Their Pokémon joined them in formation, each step landing in ti with the rising music.

Then, Espeon lifted its head.

A radiant beam of sunlight bathed the set in gold.

The scorched city, the flas, the darkness—all swept away.

A new dawn.

A new beginning.

Only the ruins of Brass Tower remained, still present in the final backdrop, forever preserved as a lesson.

"…And so," the narrator concluded, "to rember the lives lost… and the bonds we nearly forgot… the people of Ecruteak left the burned tower untouched."

The dancers each lifted a small ceremonial bell.

Ching-ching-ching…

With a soft ring, they bowed in unison.

The curtain fell.

And the theater erupted into applause.

Thunderous, heartfelt, unrelenting applause.

Kai and Erika rose with the others, clapping earnestly. Even though they already knew the legend, seeing it co alive like this had given the story new weight.

Now he understood why even a monk had co to watch.

When the curtain finally closed and the house lights returned, Kai glanced at the ti.

An hour? That flew by. I could've sworn it was only twenty minutes.

Totally worth it.

As the audience filtered out, Kai and Erika paused near the lobby, avoiding the congestion. On the wall, a new poster caught their eye.

This one didn't feature Ho-Oh or Lugia.

It was a photo of the Kimono Sisters themselves, dressed in full performance attire, each paired with their Eeveelution partner.

Up close, they were stunning. Elegant, graceful… and surprisingly similar in appearance, each about a year apart in age.

As they prepared to leave, a flash of movent caught their eye.

A regular Eevee darted past them, tail wagging.

Chasing after it ca the girl in the pink kimono, breathless and laughing.

"Eevee! Don't run off again—wait up!"

Kai blinked, recognizing her from the performance.
