"Pelipper is unable to battle. The winner is Sato and his Golbat!"
The referee silently counted to ten in his mind. When Pelipper showed no signs of movent, he raised the small flag in his hand and announced the result of the match.
As soon as the announcent was made, Thomas recalled Pelipper into its PokéBall without saying a word or shaking hands with Sato. Instead, he disappeared into the crowd.
Sato, seeing this, simply praised his Golbat a few tis, rewarded him with so high-quality PokeBlocks, and leisurely made his way back to the dical room.
This ti, the way everyone looked at Sato had completely changed. They now recognized that Sato was, first and foremost, a powerful Pokémon Trainer, and only secondarily a sowhat inexperienced Pokémon dic.
His participation in this tournant suddenly made complete sense.
The fact that he chose to rely on his main partner, Bellossom, for key support during the event was a stroke of luck for the other trainers—but a challenge for anyone hoping to secure a top spot in the competition.
After all, the strong are always entitled to so privileges, aren't they?
On his way back, several trainers who had benefited from Sato's dical services offered their congratulations or praised his victory. Upon arriving at the temporary dical room, many of the assisting staff also ca forward to congratulate him.
Even Eileen, who had previously been critical of him, extended her warm wishes.
Once back in the dical room, Sato put on his white coat again. After feeding Bellossom a gem-grade PokeBlock and letting her rest for a while, he released her to continue assisting in treating injured Pokémon.
To Sato's surprise, the first patient upon his return was none other than the Pelipper he had just defeated with Golbat.
Thomas, clearly embarrassed, was well aware of Sato's role as a Pokémon dic. He was anxious, feeling guilty about his poor sportsmanship after losing the match.
Fortunately, Sato didn't seem to hold a grudge against Thomas for his post-match behavior. Maintaining his professional deanor, Sato even let Bellossom personally treat Pelipper.
"Thank you so much, Mr. Sato!"
Thomas's face lit up with joy as he watched Pelipper quickly recover under the effects of Bellossom's Grassy Terrain. Bowing deeply, he expressed his heartfelt gratitude.
Sato nodded in acknowledgnt and imdiately moved on to provide dical services to the next injured Pokémon. Nearby, Eileen watched, her face softening into a smile.
By just past noon, the morning's matches were officially over, and the second-round matchups were announced.
Perhaps in recognition of Sato's dual role as both a competitor and a dic, the organizers scheduled his next match relatively early—third in the lineup for the afternoon.
Unlike the first round, the second-round battles introduced new challenges. After eliminating 112 trainers, the remaining competitors were all highly skilled.
To further test their abilities, the second-round format required each trainer to use two Pokémon in a 2v2 battle.
At lunchti, back in Sato's room, he and his Pokémon were enjoying a cheerful al together.
After training and playing together the previous day, Mudkip seed to have let down his guard around Nidoran, Growlithe, Bellossom, and Ditto.
The group was now chatting happily as they feasted on the delicious spread.
Despite his small size, Mudkip was surprisingly strong. During their playful wrestling matches, he effortlessly bested the others, proving that his tiny fra housed incredible power.
Sato conducted a simple strength test for Mudkip using weighted equipnt. Currently, Mudkip could easily lift objects weighing up to 200 kg, with his maximum strength capping at 300 kg.
Perhaps due to this incredible strength, Mudkip also had a massive appetite. While most Pokémon required just one can of food per al, Mudkip needed at least three or four to feel full.
If he had been particularly active, he might even consu five.
Sato didn't see this voracious appetite as a problem. Before boarding the ship, he had purchased a month's supply of high-quality water-type Pokémon food.
With Mudkip's eating habits, the supply would last about a week.
This "all-you-can-eat" policy earned Sato Mudkip's trust and satisfaction. Though Sato hadn't yet achieved the ultimate milestone of a "head-pat bond" with Mudkip, their relationship had noticeably improved, becoming far less strained than before.
Happy tis always seed short-lived. Just as Sato had finished two-thirds of his lunch, a familiar knock ca at the door.
Sighing, Sato put down his chopsticks and opened the door to find a mature woman standing before him.
She was stylishly dressed, with heavy makeup and an overwhelming perfu that quickly spread throughout the room as soon as the door opened.
The scent was so strong that Growlithe, with his keen nose, imdiately let out several forceful sneezes.
"Woof! Woof! Woof!"
Clearly displeased with this uninvited guest disrupting his lunch, Growlithe barked loudly at the woman as soon as she stepped into the room.
"Growlithe, it's not polite to be rude to guests. If the scent is bothering you, go to the bedroom," Sato said, offering an apology to the woman before kneeling to pat Growlithe on the head.
Growlithe nodded, then darted into Sato's room, even smartly closing the door behind him.
anwhile, the woman visibly relaxed. Her wary expression softened, and her hands, previously held behind her back, moved casually to her sides. A PokéBall she had been clutching also vanished.
"Apologies again—my Growlithe doesn't seem to like your perfu. How can I help you?" Sato asked as he turned back to the woman.
"It's no problem at all, Mr. Sato. My na is Mary. I'm here for your dical expertise. These are the patients—please heal them as quickly as possible," Mary replied with a sultry smile.
As she spoke, Mary released a Persian and a Poliwrath from their PokéBalls. Both Pokémon were badly injured and unconscious.
Sato, using his system's scanning ability, conducted his routine check on the two Pokémon. However, the results left him stunned:
Both Pokémon, despite being in a fainted state, were at level 42!
