Noticing Ekans' abnormal behavior, Rondo sensed sothing was off and quickly mimicked the movent, stepping back a short distance. However, he couldn't match Ekans' speed, so he was still slightly affected by Zubat's ultrasonic attack from twenty ters away, resulting in a short mont of dizziness.
"Hmph, just useless little tricks. Ekans, jump and use Bite on Zubat!" Rondo's willpower was quite strong. With a slight shake of his head to clear his mind, he imdiately commanded Ekans, which was now less than 5 ters away from Zubat, to attack.
Hearing Rondo's command, Ekans' vertical pupils narrowed, and its purple body coiled like a spring before launching itself at Zubat with incredible speed, ready to execute a powerful bite.
This movent clearly showed that Ekans had trained for countless hours; the ti taken from the start to completion was less than a second. In the astonished eyes of the onlookers, Ekans was like a purple flash, pouncing toward the still-reacting Zubat.
Ekans' massive jaws opened wide, ready to bite down on Zubat. If Zubat were to be bitten by Ekans, it could very well find itself completely trapped in Ekans' mouth, unable to resist at all.
At the sa ti, the terrifying intimidation brought by Ekans' lightning-fast Bite, combined with its Intimidate ability, caused Zubat in the air to feel a sense of fear, resulting in a mont of stiffness in its movents.
Seeing Ekans execute such a swift attack, Rondo, Ekans trainer, experienced a flicker of surprise mixed with fear. When he had captured Ekans in the cold environnt, he had nearly been killed by that very sa seamless strike if not for the presence of his subordinates.
If Rondo wasn't mistaken, his extrely fierce Ekans had once had a favorite food: flying creatures. This attack was clearly honed specifically for hunting flying prey.
"Hold your ground! Use Protect!" Sato, noticing Zubat was montarily stunned by Ekans swift pounce, imdiately issued a command.
The speed of Sato's voice was just a bit quicker than Ekans' actual attacking speed. With its exceptional hearing, Zubat caught Sato's call, and any fear it felt vanished in an instant. Acting on instinct, Zubat swiftly used its Protect move.
In an instant, a green energy shield enveloped Zubat. As soon as the shield appeared, Ekans' Bite struck it.
The next second, the sound of "crack, crack, crack~~" echoed as Ekans' massive jaws bit down heavily on the green energy shield surrounding Zubat. Although Ekans' attack caused a few cracks to form, the attack was ultimately blocked by Zubat's Protect.
The green energy shield lasted less than 2 second before it shattered, turning into fragnts that fell to the ground and quickly vanished as light particles.
At that mont, Zubat seized the opportunity and swiftly flew out of Ekans' biting range as Ekans' attack ca up empty and it began to fall toward the ground.
"Seize the opportunity, Zubat! Ekans can't move in the air, use Supersonic!" Seeing Zubat successfully avoid danger, Sato's eyes sparkled with determination, imdiately directing Zubat.
"Don't panic! Use Poison Tail on Zubat!" At the sa ti, Rondo quickly issued a command to his airborne Ekans.
Under Rondo's command, Ekans' tail glimred with a purple sheen. Utilizing the strength of its body, it twisted and prepared to unleash a Poison Tail on the nearby Zubat.
Fortunately, Zubat was also quick. Just as Ekans' Poison Tail was about to strike, Zubat relied on its instinctive ability and successfully unleashed a wave of high-frequency ultrasonic sound. Due to the close range, the rapidly moving sound waves struck Ekans first.
Subsequently, Ekans' Poison Tail followed through due to inertia, successfully hitting Zubat and sending it flying. anwhile, Ekans was also hit and crashed into the ground.
When Ekans crashed into the ground, Zubat had just stabilized itself in the air using its strong wings, only panting slightly. After executing Protect and taking Ekans' Poison Tail hit while hitting it with a Supersonic, Zubat's stamina had noticeably decreased.
However, being a Poison-type, the Poison Tail from Ekans didn't manage to do much damage to Zubat.
anwhile, the onlookers standing at the edge of the battlefield had shifted from an initial relaxed deanor to one of seriousness, even looking quite grim. It was evident from the earlier battle that Rondo's commanding Ekans hadn't gained much advantage against Sato's Zubat; rather, it seed to have suffered a slight loss.
No, it was a significant loss.
Now, having been hit by Zubat's close-range Supersonic, Ekans had fallen into a state of confusion. Its once-cold serpent eyes were now blood-red.
Regardless of how loudly Rondo shouted, Ekans was behaving as if it were facing an enemy, furiously biting and striking its head against the ground until it soon began to bleed.
"Damn, is this guy really a rookie trainer? Why does it feel like his command is more seasoned and solid than Rondo's?" Observing Sato calmly directing Zubat to use Shadow Ball against the confused Ekans, the gamblers who had placed their bets on Rondo looked visibly distressed.
