Without a qualified Trainer's assistance, the amateur Trainers at the breakfast shop were no match for the owth gang. They were completely outplayed, left spinning in circles.

If it weren't for the fact that the owth gang didn't intend to cause serious harm, the burly chefs and their Pokémon would have already been knocked flat.

In reality, the owths causing trouble outside the breakfast shop weren't the gang's full contingent.

Several owths had snuck into the kitchen under the cover of their companions' antics. These stealthy ones had already stolen a large amount of food and escaped through the back door, which they had trashed on their way out.

"ow!!"

"ow!!"

When a owth appeared on the breakfast shop's rooftop and let out a sharp cry, the gang leader imdiately responded with an equally sharp call. With that, the leader easily broke away from the confrontation and began making its escape.

In the next mont, the remaining troublemaking owths swiftly followed the leader's steps, retreating from the breakfast shop in an instant.

"Leaving already? Heh.. Golbat, use an Look! Don't let that crafty little one escape, or it'll be hard to catch it again."

Seeing the owth gang retreat, Sato knew this was his chance to capture the golden-aptitude owth. He quickly commanded Golbat to use an Look, sealing off the owth's escape route.

This golden-aptitude owth was clearly a master of adapting to circumstances. Its cunning and intelligence once again impressed Sato, strengthening his resolve to capture this shrewd Pokémon with such an exceptional sense of the bigger picture.

As soon as the owth on the rooftop appeared, the golden owth had imdiately noticed it. Even before the rooftop owth and the leader signaled the retreat, the golden owth unhesitatingly abandoned its companions, choosing to flee in a different direction.

However, this self-serving decision to ensure its own escape backfired, landing the golden owth in the clutches of a fearso human.

Just as it crossed the roadside fence and darted into a narrow, deserted alley, a large and intimidating Golbat descended from the sky, blocking its path.

The Golbat's eyes glead with black light, locking onto the owth.

Instantly, an overwhelming sense of danger flooded the golden owth's mind, causing its fur to bristle all over.

It tried to dodge, but the black light was impossibly fast. Before it could react, the light struck, and a crimson eye mark appeared on its back.

"ow, ow, ow~~" ("Are you hungry? I know a place with lots of delicious food. I can take you there, but on one condition: don't suck my blood. My blood tastes awful—worse than sewer water.")

Despite knowing Golbat was dangerous, the owth's sly nature prompted it to negotiate rather than resorting to violence.

In its experience, most Pokémon were dimwitted and easily tricked. It had survived its weaker days by fooling those bigger and dumber than itself.

The owth was confident it could outwit this oversized Golbat too.

Of course, its decision to negotiate was largely driven by the intense threat it sensed from Golbat. This sa feeling had only ever co from foes it couldn't defeat—like the gang leader it had long sought to overthrow.

But Golbat remained silent, as though it were mute, ignoring the owth's words. It also refrained from attacking, simply glaring at it with unyielding focus.

The situation fell into a tense standoff. Realizing the stalemate, the owth discreetly raised its tail behind its body, hiding it from view. Sparks began to crackle faintly along the tip.

Unfortunately for the owth, it lacked the knowledge of a seasoned Trainer. Golbat's supersonic senses picked up its movents imdiately. The mont the sparks appeared, Golbat attacked.

With blinding speed, Golbat swung one of its wide wings, striking the owth before it could react.

"Thud!"

The owth was sent flying into a row of garbage cans, knocking them over and scattering trash across the alley.

Though the owth wasn't incapacitated, it struggled to its feet, glaring at Golbat with resentnt.

Golbat, expecting a counterattack, assud a combat stance. But to its surprise, the owth turned and bolted at full speed.

Unfortunately for the owth, it didn't get far. An invisible force pulled it back, keeping it within ten ters of Golbat no matter how hard it ran.

"Phew, you're fast—disappeared in the blink of an eye. Good thing I have Golbat, or you really would've slipped away."

Just as the owth was preparing for a last stand against Golbat, Sato arrived, led by his Ditto transford into Golbat. Breathing heavily, he called off the fight.

Golbat obediently perched on Sato's outstretched arm, turning its cold gaze back to the wary owth.

Through his observations at the breakfast shop and just now, Sato had already pegged this owth as a cunning scher.

Sato's presence didn't reassure the owth—it only heightened its sense of danger.

From Golbat's behavior, the owth deduced that Sato was one of those "despicable Trainers" it had heard so much about. Humans like him captured Pokémon and took them away forever.

The owth's fear deepened at the thought of never returning, recalling tales of Pokémon taken by humans who never ca back.

Having grown up in the city, the owth had always seen humans as destroyers of its ho, not to be trusted. It had even been beaten by humans in the past for stealing food when it was hungry.

"ow!!"

The owth decided not to wait for its doom. Knowing it couldn't escape, it resolved to fight back with all its might.

The next second, a golden current of electricity suddenly shot from owth's tail, aiming straight at Sato. The golden current, like a sharp arrow, was intent on striking him down.

However, before the electricity could get within a ter of Sato, it was stopped by a translucent green energy wall. Golbat had used Protect the mont owth launched its attack, shielding Sato from harm.

"Co out, Swampert. Don't go too hard; just knock him out," Sato instructed calmly.

Seeing owth attack him so ferociously, Sato's eyebrows furrowed. He imdiately sensed the hostility and deep-seated dislike owth felt toward him—or more broadly, toward humans.

Still, Sato didn't let this deter him from capturing the extraordinary Pokémon. The data he had gathered on this owth through the system left him determined. He quickly retrieved Swampert's PokéBall and released it.

In an instant, Swampert's massive, mountainous form appeared before owth, exuding a fearso aura that made owth tremble involuntarily.

Despite his shaking legs, owth didn't back down. Instead, a strange dark energy began to coalesce around him. Gritting his teeth, he charged at Swampert recklessly.

For a brief mont, Swampert was surprised to feel an intensity from this small cat that rivaled its own—a sensation as though it were facing an equal opponent. The disdain in Swampert's eyes vanished, replaced by sharp focus.

With a glint of seriousness in his gaze, Swampert moved swiftly. Before owth could close the distance, Swampert landed a light uppercut, using just a fraction of his strength, striking owth squarely in the stomach.

The impact sent owth flying into the air.

Monts later, Golbat swooped in and gently brought the unconscious owth back down to the ground.

"He's got spirit. Even knowing he couldn't win, he still tried to counter with Foul Play. If that had landed, Swampert would've felt it for sure," Sato thought with satisfaction as he looked at the fainted owth.

owth had perford exceptionally, showing cunning, calmness in battle, and a fierce determination when pushed into a corner. This kind of personality was exactly what Sato admired in a Pokémon.

"PokéBall, go!"

Without hesitation, Sato pulled out a Great Ball and tossed it toward owth.

The ball opened upon contact, enveloping owth in a beam of red light and drawing him inside. After two or three shakes, the button at the center of the Great Ball stopped glowing, signaling the capture was successful.

"Welco to the team, owth. I don't know why you seem to harbor such resistance toward humans, but trust —things will get better. I'll treat you well and help you grow even stronger."

Sato picked up the Great Ball from the ground, speaking softly to himself as he turned it over in his hand.
