The next day.
Mu Anhan woke up with a headache.
She rubbed her eyes hard, but it didn’t seem to help.
She habitually reached under her pillow for her phone, only to find it wasn’t there.
Startled, she sat up and saw her phone on the nightstand.
She grabbed it and lay back down to check her ssages.
Most of them were from Xue Xiangtong, asking how things went after she got ho last night, and also telling her about Chu Wanqing’s resu.
Chu Wanqing grew up in an orphanage with her brother Chu Feixiong. Later, Chu Feixiong joined the army and died on a special mission.
A few lines were enough to give her an overall picture.
Xue Xiangtong also said her clearance was too low to access certain confidential information. As for how Chu Wanqing t Gu Xiaozhan, she couldn’t find that out.
Mu Anhan called Xue Xiangtong: "Tong Tong... Good morning!"
"Morning? It’s almost lunchti." Xue Xiangtong laughed, "Don’t tell you just woke up!"
"I don’t know why, but I got drunk after just one drink." Mu Anhan laughed as well.
"Not just you, all four of the top guys got drunk." Xue Xiangtong sighed, "Luckily, I inherited my dad’s drinking genes, so I didn’t. Let tell you, I took all four of them ho last night..."
"Did you fancy any of them?" Mu Anhan teased her.
"Please, they’re like my little brothers, how could I?!" Xue Xiangtong laughed, "By the way, you scared last night. You didn’t reply to my ssages, so I called you, and Mr. Gu answered..."
"What did he say?" Mu Anhan asked her.
Xue Xiangtong, sitting in her office flipping through so cases, replied, "He just said you were drunk and already asleep. Did you two fight after getting ho last night?"
How could they not have? Mu Anhan rembered arguing all the way from the car to the bedroom. She even hit Gu Xiaozhan’s butt, but after she got really drunk, she couldn’t rember what happened next.
The after-effects of the alcohol were too strong!
She noticed she was all clean and dressed neatly; Gu Xiaozhan must have done all this for her.
She chatted with Xue Xiangtong for a bit, then hung up the call.
Why couldn’t she rember what happened after she hit him?
Just as Mu Anhan was thinking this, the bedroom door opened.
Gu Xiaozhan walked in, wearing casual clothes.
He was dressed in a black turtleneck sweater and brown corduroy pants, holding a dessert in his hand.
"Honey..." Mu Anhan felt a bit guilty, mainly because she had dared to hit him, and she couldn’t rember what happened afterward.
Gu Xiaozhan ca to her side, gently held the back of her head, and kissed her lips, "Hungry? Go wash up first and have so dessert!"
"Okay." While Mu Anhan went to wash up, she wondered why he was suddenly being so nice to her.
Normally he was very strict, not allowing her to have dessert before als, saying it was bad for the stomach and hindered nutrient absorption.
But today he was offering her dessert willingly? Was it that after she hit him last night, he beca nicer to her?
And he wasn’t ntioning the fact that she hit him at all. What was he thinking?
As she slowly freshened up, her mind wandered, unaware that Gu Xiaozhan was already standing at the door watching her.
"Why didn’t you go to work?" Mu Anhan asked, feeling guilty.
Was he staying ho just to wait for her to wake up and settle the score?
