Nathan’s POV

"You didn’t give her the mory card?" Emily asked after Kyra went to check on her cousin.

I walked over and placed the mory card on the coffee table before sitting down. Emily watched carefully.

"If you had died today, my wife would bla herself for not stopping you. Especially since you only went to save her cousin."

Emily clenched her jaw. "Connor Foster did this to his own son. Matt told his father kidnapped and imprisoned him because he discovered Connor’s cris. I can’t believe a father would do this to his child."

I clenched my fists. "Are you willing to work with , Emily?"

She looked confused. "What do you an?"

"Connor Foster, Attorney Lee, and Detective Marshall are all connected. They’re our enemies."

Her mouth fell open. "Detective Marshall? You think he’s working with Connor Foster and Attorney Lee?"

I shrugged. "There’s a strong possibility. All three shooting cases involving Kyra have been assigned to him. He always seems to know when sothing’s going to happen, but he never prevents it."

Emily closed her eyes and nodded. "That makes sense. Three separate incidents, sa detective, sa pattern of arriving just after the fact."

"Detective Marshall cos from a wealthy family, so it’s probably not about money," I continued. "There’s sothing else connecting them."

"Whatever it is, we need to stop them," Emily said firmly.

"I’ve been looking into Connor’s background. He has business dealings that aren’t public. Hidden companies, secret accounts, connections to dangerous people."

"What kind of people?"

"The kind who eliminate problems permanently." She paused. "I think Connor’s been planning to take Foster Industries for years. Kyra’s mother’s death wasn’t an accident. It was part of his plan."

Alaric growled in my mind. "That bastard needs to pay for what he’s done."

"We’ll make sure he does, "I replied silently.

"Connor doesn’t just want the company for money," I said. "Kyra’s investigation into her mother’s death threatens to expose everything he’s built. If she gains full control of Foster Industries, she’ll have access to records that could destroy him."

"So he’s trying to steal the company to protect himself?"

"Exactly. The company isn’t just his source of power. It’s also where he’s hidden evidence of his cris."

Emily nodded slowly. "That’s why he’s so desperate. Kyra getting control of Foster Industries ans his downfall."

"We need to work together," I said. "Your father’s resources, my connections. We can hit them from different directions."

"What are you thinking?"

"We expose them all at once. If we go after one, the others will run or destroy evidence."

Emily stood up and started pacing. "My father’s n found sothing when they rescued Matt. Connor keeps records of his illegal activities."

"Where?"

"Matt only saw glimpses before Connor caught him. But he knows where Connor’s private office is. Not his public one, but a secret location."

"This could be exactly what we need," Alaric said in my mind.

"If we can get into that office," I said, "we might find evidence on all of them."

"It won’t be easy. Connor’s paranoid. The place will be well protected."

Emily stopped pacing and looked at . "You realize this ans breaking the law ourselves."

"We’re talking about justice," I corrected. "Connor Foster killed Kyra’s mother and tried to kill my wife. Detective Marshall helped cover it up. Attorney Lee is helping them cover up the truth about Kyra’s mother’s death, and he might even be the kidnapper’s son. I even suspect the entire Alpha Council and law enforcent won’t help us."

"So we take matters into our own hands."

"Exactly."

Emily closed her eyes and nodded. "We’ll help. I’ll use my father’s resources."

I thought for a mont, then asked, "Do you know how to contact Kieran?"

Emily frowned. "Even though Kieran and I are legally married, which we haven’t officially divorced yet, we’re not close enough for regular contact."

Then she asked with so wariness, "Why do you want to reach him?"

"I think I need his help too."

"How?"

"He inherited his father’s Rogue faction, so he definitely knows more about the dark underworld. Even though he’s a wanted criminal in official pack territory, he’s an influential figure in another world. We won’t be enough on our own."

Emily thought for a while. "I’ll find a way."

I sighed in relief and nodded. "Thank you, Emily."

"I’m doing this for Kyra and Matt."

I nodded and extended my hand to shake hers. "For the alliance."

She stared at my hand for a mont, then shook it. "For the alliance."

"What alliance?"

We both turned to see Kyra standing a few ters away, her forehead creased with confusion. I didn’t know what her next move would be, but whatever she decided, I’d support her. As long as she let be part of her plans.
