Kieran’s POV
I ordered my n to search every public cetery in the city for freshly dug graves. Finally, we found traces at one of the older ceteries.
The light drizzle made everything slippery as I dug through the wet soil with a shovel. Each shovelful felt heavier than the last. My chest tightened with each passing second. What if we were too late? What if Emily was already gone?
Ronan stirred restlessly in my mind. "Kieran, hurry. I can sense her life force, but it’s weak."
I continued digging until I found a casket. My eyes widened when I opened it and saw Emily inside. She was pale and unconscious. No! Kyra would hate more! She would never forgive if Emily died.
I lifted Emily and laid her on the grass. I leaned down and listened to her heartbeat. I cursed out loud and started giving her CPR.
"Emily! Emily, open your damn eyes!" I said, gritting my teeth before giving her air through her mouth. I did it repeatedly until I heard her coughing and gasping for air.
I looked at her while panting. I swallowed hard and helped her sit up. She looked at while gasping for air. When our eyes t, hers imdiately filled with tears. She cried hard as she lifted her arm and touched my cheek.
"Leo!" she sobbed.
I clenched my jaw. Leo. My twin brother who had been dead for years.
I carried her bridal style before she could hug . "I’ll take you to the hospital."
I had to bring her to the hospital even if people might recognize as a wanted criminal.
I gently put Emily in the passenger seat and fastened her seatbelt. She was still crying while staring at my face. I pressed my lips together and shut the door. She was still weak after being buried alive by that evil Connor Foster. I was evil too, but I knew I couldn’t do sothing like this. This was too much.
"L-Leo, o-our baby. W-We lost o-our baby..." Emily whispered.
I was taken aback by what she said. I slowly turned to her and saw the pain in her eyes. She lost her baby?
My heart felt heavy with confusion and regret. Her life had been cruel, and I was one of the people who had made it worse. That truth made feel bitter. I beca evil because of hatred, but I wouldn’t bla anyone because it was my choice.
Now I understood why Emily had always fought against her father, Alpha Liam. Why she wanted his rogue faction to disappear. She had been trying to protect what she loved, and we had all failed her.
"Sleep, Emily. We’ll talk later."
I glanced at her and saw her staring at . She swallowed hard before nodding and slowly closing her eyes. How could I tell her that I wasn’t Leo? How could I make her understand that she had lost her mories?
I wore a black baseball cap before carrying Emily. I walked toward the hospital and was imdiately helped by the staff. The nurses asked several questions, but I simply said I found her on the street. This was the safest answer I could give. I shouldn’t show myself to her while her mories hadn’t returned.
I got back in my car and tried calling Kyra. No answer. I tried again. Still nothing. My chest started to feel tight with worry.
I mind-linked my n who were supposed to be watching Kyra. No response. That was bad. My n always answered when I reached out to them.
"Sothing’s wrong, "Ronan growled in my mind. "We need to check on her now."
I drove fast to the edge of Nightfall Pack territory where I knew Kyra and Nathan would be traveling. When I got there, I saw Nathan’s car parked on the side of the road. The doors were open.
My blood ran cold.
I jumped out of my car and ran to the vehicle. Bodies of Nathan’s warriors were scattered around the road. All dead. Bullet holes covered the car’s armor.
"No, no, no," I muttered, panic rising in my throat.
I searched frantically around the car and the nearby area. On the ground near the passenger side, I found Nathan’s phone. The screen was cracked but still working. I picked it up with shaking hands.
A few feet away, half hidden under so leaves, I found Kyra’s phone too. The case was scratched and dirty.
Both phones were here, but Kyra and Nathan were gone. Soone had taken them, and from the looks of the scene, it hadn’t been voluntary.
Ronan paced anxiously in my mind. "This slls like a setup. Connor’s people were here."
I looked around at the destruction. Blood stained the asphalt. Bullet casings littered the ground. There had been a serious fight here, and Nathan’s team had lost.
Damn him. Why couldn’t he even protect her properly?
My hands shook as I held both phones. I had promised Kyra I would find Emily, and I had. But now Kyra and Nathan were missing, possibly taken by the sa madman who had buried Emily alive.
The rain was getting heavier. I could feel it soaking through my clothes, but I didn’t care. All I could think about was Kyra’s face. All I could think about was how she might be hurt or scared right now.
Kyra, where are you?
