Kyra’s POV
I took the opportunity to leave when Nathan paused in shock after what I said. Sylvia snarled in my mind, "He doesn’t deserve your pain, Kyra. Walk away now." I glared at him one last ti before I slamd the door shut behind .
How could he try to touch after everything that happened? His scent—that minty freshness that used to comfort —now only made my stomach churn. The bond between mates was sacred, yet he had shattered it without hesitation.
Oh God! I couldn’t believe him! The Nathan I knew—the one whose wolf, Alaric, had once nuzzled against my neck in affection—would never have disrespected like this, even in anger. The old him would have lowered his voice the mont he realized his mistakes and would have imdiately apologized for what he did wrong.
I was about to go back and find Kieran so we could imdiately leave this nonsense party when I bumped into Sophia in the hallway. Her eyes were fixed on , sharp as if she could burn a hole through my head.
"Where’s Nathan?" she asked through gritted teeth.
I raised an eyebrow and tilted my head. "Do I look like a lost and found agency?"
She advanced a step, her wolf’s aggression rolling off her in waves, probably to intimidate .
Pathetic. I was no longer the poor teenage werewolf without a wolf or any power. I was the Alpha’s daughter; my father was the powerful Alpha of the Raven Shadow Pack. I would never be intimidated by her.
"You should be ashad, Kyra! You’re trying to seduce my fiancé at our engagent party. How could you?"
I laughed without humor at what she said. I pald my forehead and slowly shook my head before looking at her again.
My fingers twitched, Sylvia urging to wipe the smirk off her face.
"Can you hear yourself, Sophia? I’m not a slut like you. I won’t seduce soone who’s already in a relationship. You must have hit your head. You don’t rember that what you’re accusing of is what you actually did almost three months ago?"
"Don’t play for a fool, Kyra! I know you showed up here with a plan! You’re trying to seduce Nathan!"
"Aren’t you the one who sent an invitation?" I asked, smirking.
She gasped and balled her fists. I laughed again and cupped my mouth. "Oh! Was that to annoy ? I’m sorry to disappoint you, Sophia... I’m not easy to defeat."
I tilted my head, letting my Alpha’s dominance seep into my voice. "I’m not so weak little she-wolf you can bully anymore."
"You bitch!"
I saw Nathan appear behind her and notice us. He started walking towards us with a worried expression.
I smirked at Sophia again. "I haven’t done anything, but you’re already triggered. What if I actually do sothing?"
She raised her arm and was about to slap , when Nathan caught her wrist in shock.
"Sofi..."
"Nathan! This woman is getting on my nerves!"
Nathan looked at , but his face imdiately went blank as Kieran’s cedar and musk scent enveloped . His arm slid around my waist, his wolf, Ronan, practically growling through our mind link.
I turned to my right and saw a familiar pair of shoes stop beside . When I looked up, I saw Kieran’s cold expression, his gaze fixed directly on Nathan.
"Is this how you treat your guests? I’m very disappointed, Anderson."
Nathan clenched his jaw and pressed his lips together. When he glanced at , I imdiately lowered my gaze.
"Let’s go, Kieran. This argunt will just ruin my whole night."
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the fire of anger ignite in Nathan’s eyes again.
I didn’t know what his problem was, but I knew it couldn’t be jealousy. I’d learned my lesson. I used to hope he was jealous and overthinking his feelings for . In the end, it was a brutal disappointnt for .
Kieran and I walked out of the event hall. We strode side by side, and I could still feel Nathan’s gaze burning my back.
My pulse raced, but Sylvia snarled, "He lost his right to your heart the mont he chose her."
My heart hamred inside my chest, but there was no way I’d entertain these feelings again. I’d learned the hard way. I wasn’t foolish enough to take the risk again, knowing I no longer had a reason to fight.

Nathan’s POV
"What was that, Nathan?"
I slowly looked at Sophia right after Kyra left with Kieran.
I can’t accept it. She’s really in a relationship with that bastard. Of all people, why does it have to be him? He always turns all my confidence to insecurity when it cos to Kyra.
How long has it been? Two months. It’s just been two months and she’s already letting another Alpha’s scent cling to her. I’m not trying to wash my hands of bla here. I just can’t accept that she can be happy with soone else other than , because for all the years we spent together, I thought I was her family.
"Nathan!"
I shook my head and massaged the bridge of my nose. "Let’s just talk later, Sofi—"
"No! Let’s talk right here and now. Let’s talk about why you did not defend . You should side with all the ti, Nathan—"
"I didn’t side with anyone—"
"You practically sided with her when you chose to keep your mouth shut!"
I gritted my teeth. "I don’t know what you’re talking about, Sophia!"
"You know, Nathan! And you also know how hard it was for to co back! You know what I had to give up just so I could be with you again but look at what you’re doing!"
"Sophia—"
"Nathan!"
Fuck!
I sucked in a breath and slowly turned toward the direction of that familiar voice. I clenched my jaw when I saw my mom with Grandma walking toward us.
"Grandma!" Sophia threw herself into Grandma’s arms as tears rolled down her cheeks.
"What happened, Sophia?"
"It’s Nathan. I—I saw him with Kyra."
What? That’s not possible! She didn’t see us.
Grandma looked at with a furrowed brow. "What is this, Nathan?"
I shook my head. "It’s just a misunderstanding, Grandma. We’ll talk about this—"
"You should," she cut off angrily. "Fix this imdiately. You shouldn’t cause a scene here. The pack is watching and there are so many guests. You don’t want to bring sha on this family, Nathan."
"I told you, Grandma, it’s just a misunderstanding—"
"Why did Kyra co?" Mom asked.
My lips parted as I looked at her. "Mom..."
Sophia walked away from us. Grandma looked at with disappointnt before leaving. I was left with Mom, who walked to and gently caressed my shoulder.
Our gazes t as I lifted my chin. "Mom, you’ll believe , right?"
She smiled. "I always believe you, son. But Kyra shouldn’t be here. She’s already your ex-mate. You’re getting married to Sophia, so you shouldn’t get involved with her again."
I sighed, defeated and disappointed. "Mom, Kyra is my best friend—"
"Everything changed the mont she rejected you, son. Didn’t you rember how she bluntly told us that she doesn’t have feelings for you? Not even an ounce. She insisted on the rejection and now she’s trying to win you back?"
What? My eyebrows knitted together. "Mom, she’s not doing anything."
"Don’t defend her, son. You better stay away from her or I’ll talk to her myself and tell her to leave you alone. I love her like my own daughter, but I will always choose you over her."
Alaric howled in protest, but I silenced him. Too late for regrets now.
