Seeing Sean Lockwood collapse to the ground, Jocelyn Grant looked worried.
She hurried forward, calling out to him anxiously.
"Senior Brother."
"Senior Brother... Don’t scare ."
Jocelyn frantically took out her own Healing Pills, pouring one into his mouth, only to find it had no effect. He was still coughing up blood.
Panicking, Jocelyn couldn’t help but mutter, "What do I do? His injuries are so severe, ordinary Healing Pills are useless. I wonder if Senior Brother has any other elixirs on him."
As she spoke, her gaze fell upon his finger.
’I’ll just take a look first. Saving Senior Brother is the priority.’
With that thought, she reached out and removed the Storage Ring from Sean Lockwood’s hand.
Inside Sean Lockwood’s Storage Ring were so Cultivation Resources, as well as so Elixir Pills and Magic Treasures.
A lot of them.
Even Jocelyn was stunned when she saw the contents.
’Senior Brother actually has so many Cultivation Resources. His Storage Ring probably contains over three hundred thousand low-grade spirit stones, plus tens of thousands of Mid-grade and top-grade spirit stones.’
’If I had these Cultivation Resources, I could definitely break through to the Nascent Soul Stage quickly.’
’What am I thinking? This is Senior Brother’s stuff.’
Jocelyn found a Fifth Grade Elixir among the pills. She looked at the bottle in her hand with pleasant surprise. "This is a Fifth Grade Elixir! Wonderful! Senior Brother can be saved!"
She quickly poured out a pill and fed it to him.
After Sean Lockwood took the elixir, the bleeding stopped, and the wounds on his body began to heal. A short while later, his external injuries had recovered completely. As for his internal injuries, they were nding slowly, but he was too gravely wounded to wake up anyti soon. Still, he was out of danger.
Seeing his pale face, Jocelyn’s heart ached.
"It’s all my fault... Why can I never protect the people around ... I’m so useless."
Jocelyn’s own injuries weren’t light. She took out a pill for herself, then put the elixirs away and slid the ring back onto Sean Lockwood’s hand.
Afterward, Jocelyn sat beside him, ditating to recover from her injuries. The next day, Sean Lockwood finally woke up.
When he ca to, he was lying on the back of the Venompetal Spider. Sitting beside him was Jocelyn.
"Where is this?"
Sean Lockwood pushed himself up.
Seeing that he was awake, Jocelyn threw her arms around him and started crying.
"Senior Brother, you’re finally awake!"
"Do you have any idea how much you scared ? Thank goodness you’re okay."
Watching Jocelyn cry as she hugged him, Sean Lockwood felt a small asure of comfort in his heart.
’This woman didn’t abandon . I was so badly hurt back there. If Jocelyn hadn’t cared for , I would have certainly died.’
"Jocelyn, don’t cry. I’m fine."
He wrapped one arm around her shoulder, but his eyes fell upon the Storage Ring on his hand.
’She didn’t take my things and run, nor did she leave behind. Maybe Jocelyn isn’t a bad person at heart. In that case, when she pushed to block that sword, maybe she really was just scared. It probably wasn’t intentional.’
At that mont, Jocelyn grabbed his arm.
She tilted her head up slightly to look at Sean Lockwood.
"Senior Brother, you were gravely injured this ti, and ordinary pills were no use. I took an elixir from your Storage Ring without your permission... You’re not mad at , are you?"
Hearing this, Sean Lockwood smiled slightly and said, "Jocelyn, how could I bla you? We’re Taoist Companions; there’s no need to distinguish between what’s yours and what’s mine."
As he spoke, he held her hand while bringing the fingers of his other hand together to perform a bit of Magic. Tapping his finger on her Storage Ring, he transferred a portion of the Cultivation Resources from his own ring to hers.
"These are for you."
Jocelyn’s face lit up with delight.
"Thank you, Senior Brother!"
’She knew it. Senior Brother was different from everyone else. He wasn’t selfish at all and truly cared for her.’
Sean Lockwood looked at her and said, "Jocelyn, you must focus on your Cultivation from now on."
His and Jocelyn’s physiques were complentary. In other words, their Cultivation levels needed to advance together for their joint Cultivation to be more effective in the future.
Jocelyn didn’t think too much about it, simply hugging Sean Lockwood with a blissful expression.
"I know, Senior Brother. I’ll cultivate diligently."
At that mont, the enormous Venompetal Spider was scuttling through the mountains on its eight legs, with the two of them seated on its back.
Jocelyn and Sean Lockwood’s injuries hadn’t fully healed, so they couldn’t use Sword Flight yet. They had to rely on Jocelyn’s contracted Venompetal Spider to carry them out.
"Senior Brother, you should ditate and recover first. I’ll act as your protector."
Sean Lockwood nodded. "Alright. I’ll be counting on you, Jocelyn."
「Three days later.」
They finally erged from the Demonic Beast Mountains. By then, their injuries had fully recovered.
However, just as they left the mountains, they ran into a group of Cultivators who had been drawn by the bounty. Their timing couldn’t have been worse.
The mont the two groups t, the others attacked Sean Lockwood and Jocelyn without a second word...
This was only the beginning.
The rest of the journey was a nightmare.
Jocelyn and Sean Lockwood were hunted by all sorts of bizarre Cultivators.
They ca from both the Righteous Path and the Demonic Path.
Most of them were powerful Loose Cultivators or naless wanderers—the kind you couldn’t even track down after they attacked you.
Tornadoes, blizzards, poisonings, Demonic Beast attacks, being buried by rockslides... The Cultivators causing them trouble had varying Cultivation levels, strong and weak, and were skilled in all kinds of Magic. The stronger ones took them on one-on-two, while the weaker ones ganged up on them.
One ti, in particular, they were attacked by a Demonic Path fiend while on their Sword Flight. Already severely wounded, Jocelyn and Sean Lockwood were then sent flying when a Spirit Boat that had lost control happened to crash into them. The whole situation was utterly absurd.
Flying was out of the question.
So, they traveled by land.
To evade their pursuers, Jocelyn decided they should keep a low profile on their way back.
She had Sean Lockwood ride on the Venompetal Spider’s back as they traveled, but who would have thought that they would still run into all kinds of Beast Traps set for Demonic Beasts? Worse yet, they encountered landslides and collapsing ground when they were already heavily injured... In a word: miserable.
「Half a month later.」
Jocelyn and her companion finally arrived in a city near the Primal Heaven Sect.
Heaven knows how they survived that half-month; they had nearly died out there.
A journey that should have taken two days ended up taking half a month. All their valuables had been stolen; they didn’t have a single coin left to their nas.
The two of them now stood with disheveled hair, dressed in tattered rags. Sean Lockwood had even lost an eye and now wore an eyepatch.
A few days prior, they had encountered a Cultivator who practiced Poison Techniques. Sean Lockwood was grievously poisoned, and to save his own life, his Cultivation dropped to the Foundation Establishnt Stage. As for Jocelyn, her Primordial Spirit had been severely damaged, leaving her unable to use her Cultivation for the ti being.
Standing at the city gates.
"We’re back."
"Senior Brother, we’re finally back."
They hugged each other, on the verge of tears. They had truly experienced the tragedies of Terrus during this ti. Why did sothing like this have to happen to them?
Who could have imagined that two Golden Core Stage Cultivators would end up being hunted like rats in the street?
During this ti, Jocelyn and her man had been living a life worse than a dog’s.
