When she first started at the factory, the workload was heavy. However, considering Xie Changning’s particular condition, Wang Guofu and the others split up the tasks among themselves.

The only task left for Xie Changning was to draft a questionnaire.

She drafted five versions in total. Before leaving for the day, she handed the questionnaires to Wang Guofu. "Uncle Wang, please place these in each workshop. Have the workers bring their children over later to copy them."

"Those who can read should copy it themselves. For those who can’t, have soone else help them answer."

"Alright!"

Wang Guofu’s eyes widened in surprise as he looked over the questionnaire Xie Changning had drafted.

He realized the director was trying to gauge the skill level of the employees’ children—to see their interest in technology and their foundational knowledge.

"Director, are we really going to send the children away to study?" Before he left, Wang Guofu rembered what Xie Changning had said in front of Director Zhao and couldn’t help but press her for an answer.

Xie Changning finished packing the materials she planned to review that evening, then nodded.

"Of course. The children are the future of our factory. If they have a strong foundation and good skills, our factory will have a much brighter future."

Sending the children away was just an idea for now; she would draft a concrete proposal on how to implent it later.

Wang Guofu looked at Xie Changning, deeply moved. "Changning, the workers will be so grateful to you."

"I’m not sending every child. I’m only sending the top students—the ones who have the potential to beco senior technicians," Xie Changning said. She wasn’t going to posture as so benevolent saint; what she wanted were highly-skilled technicians.

Even so, Wang Guofu was still overjoyed.

How many years had it been since their factory had produced a single senior technician?

"Don’t worry, I’ll make sure this gets done perfectly!" Wang Guofu left, clutching the questionnaires, and Xie Changning grabbed her own things and headed out as well.

Outside, she saw workers leaving for the day in twos and threes.

As they passed Xie Changning, they would greet her with broad smiles. "Hello, Director!"

"Hello!"

’Look at these hard-working people. I can’t let them get laid off.’

Carrying her belongings, Xie Changning followed her mory to the courtyard ho the Anong County Machinery Factory had prepared for her.

Next door was Wang Guofu’s ho, and the other nearby houses belonged to workshop foren and other staff, making it easy for everyone to look after her.

She pushed open the door, set her things down, and entered her pocket dinsion to check the electronics she had moved into it from Shanghai.

The parts needed for a printer were nurous, and the factory had no existing models for the workers to study. She would have to dismantle so of the appliances she’d brought from Shanghai. Fortunately, the Xie Family was well-off.

They had a color printer.

Mr. Xie had asked a friend to bring it back from overseas. It would serve as the perfect prototype for her to explain, dismantle, and have the workers study.

With a thought, Xie Changning moved the color printer from her pocket dinsion and placed it on the floor of the room. Then, she went to wash up.

After washing up, Xie Changning heard a sound at the door.

"Changning, are you ho?"

Xie Changning opened the door to see Wang Guofu’s wife, Xu Xiui, standing at the courtyard gate holding a bowl of stead egg custard.

"Aunty, please co in."

Xie Changning quickly opened the gate wider, ushering her in.

The mont Xu Xiui stepped inside, she saw the large object in the main room. She could tell it was an electronic appliance, but she couldn’t figure out what it was.

"I was just thinking I should pay you a visit, Aunty, but I didn’t get the chance."

Xie Changning exchanged pleasantries with Xu Xiui.

Xu Xiui knew about Xie Changning’s condition; otherwise, she wouldn’t have brought over the bowl of egg custard. "I heard from your Uncle Wang," she said. "You’re eating for two now, so you absolutely must take good care of yourself."

Xie Changning nodded. After they chatted politely for a mont, Xie Changning finally accepted the stead egg custard.

"If you need anything, just call for from your doorway. I’ll be able to hear you." Seeing that it was getting late, Xu Xiui got up to leave, reminding Changning one last ti to call if she needed help.

Xie Changning nodded. "Actually, there is one favor I need to ask you, Aunty. Tomorrow morning, when I head to work, could you please help find a couple of young workers to move this printer to the factory?"

Xu Xiui had already been curious about the appliance. Hearing it was a printer, she was stunned.

"This... is an imported color printer!?"

She couldn’t help but stop and examine it closely.

Xie Changning nodded. "The factory is planning to research printers. Since I happen to have one, I’m going to bring it in for the workers to study."

A printer like this was extrely expensive, yet Xie Changning was offering it up without a second thought. Xu Xiui’s admiration for her deepened.

’The Anong County Machinery Factory has finally t its savior!’

’With a director like her, how could the factory fail to prosper!?’

’I have to tell my old man this good news!’

Xu Xiui left Xie Changning’s courtyard and trotted ho. "Old Wang! Old Wang!"

Wang Guofu, who was in the middle of washing clothes, looked up at the sight of his wife’s hurried figure and frowned. "What is it? You’re not young anymore, why are you being so reckless? What if you fall?"

His tone was gruff, but his words were filled with concern.

Xu Xiui didn’t dwell on his tone. Pointing toward Xie Changning’s main room, she caught her breath and said, "Director Xie... she has a printer! She’s taking it to the factory tomorrow for the workers to study!"

Her words made Wang Guofu freeze mid-scrub.

"What? What did you say?"

Wang Guofu lost all interest in doing the laundry. His mind was now completely consud with curiosity about the printer. He wanted to go next door and see it!

That was a rare treasure! The kind of thing an ordinary family couldn’t buy even if they had the money!

"What do you think you’re doing? Finish the laundry first!" Seeing that Wang Guofu’s mind had already wandered off, Xu Xiui’s expression shifted instantly. She transford into a formidable wife, practically holding him in place to make him finish the laundry.

After finishing the laundry, Wang Guofu skipped dinner and imdiately went to the neighboring workshop foreman’s house to tell him the news.

The director’s incredible generosity had the entire leadership team of the Anong County Machinery Factory on pins and needles. If Xie Changning hadn’t been a woman, they would have stord her house that very day to see the legendary printer!

They managed to restrain themselves until the next morning. The mont Xie Changning opened her door to call for Xu Xiui, they rushed out of their own hos, unable to wait a second longer.

"No need to call the young n! The few of us can carry it!"

’How could those youngsters be as careful as us? What if one of them got curious and dropped sothing so valuable?’

’They couldn’t trust those young pups!’

Led by Wang Guofu, the managent team of the Anong County Machinery Factory assembled in front of Xie Changning’s gate in record ti.

Xie Changning saw the excitent written all over their faces and knew they were dying to see what the printer looked like. They wanted to be the first to lay eyes on such a marvel.

Xie Changning didn’t stop them.

"Does anyone have a cargo tricycle? We should use one to haul it," Xie Changning suggested.
