In the front the leading vehicle was two police cars while following that was an ECM vehicle which was basically a jamr which was kinda surprising because those cars were only in the presidential convoy, following that was another secret service SUV packed with agents, while after that was Stephen and Tomas in the car and following that Linda and Benjamin, and following them was another two SUV but one was a HDV.
Heavy Defense Vehicle which was another surprise because that SUV was a rolling tank, and if shit went bad the HDV can pop out with a minigun on top and blast shit up.
It was strange to her that this heavy convoy was going with them but at the sa ti she knew it was needed. They were potential target too and well the three highest ranked director of agencies and the justice monster in a public space was a dangerous spot… and well with that she also realized the president is not planning to throw them into the gutter, to stab them in the back because as fast as they turned to the main street, four more black out car joined them and even a helicopter for above.
"Did you forget to tell sothing?" She asked as looked at Benjamin who was literally trying to snooze.
"Why?" He asked back as he opened his eyes.
"I don't know, maybe because this never happened?" She said, "I was driving myself into work and ho, in a simple car and now this." She said as pointed out. "I an we wanted it to be secret and now we are going through the city in a convoy."
"Well." He looked at her. "Cabinet ergency eting."
As he said it Linda just stared at him, with disbelief because there wasn't fucking way it is happened, like she thought it would be just a official statent on what is happening, like that Carter died, that so gangsters finally got what they deserved.
"No… why?!"
"I don't know Linda but sothing big is going to happen for sure."
Yeah, it ant sothing very big was going to happen for a reason. The cabinet ergency eting hadn't been held in years, even though the country was in despair and in the middle of a fucking gangster war, it was actually never called. Not even when the drug trafficking operation through the border was worth billions, not even when a fucking tank was smuggled through the border… but now?
If they call upon an ergency eting that would send a sign to the public, and well if the public realizes that there is the eting they will start asking question after question, not even ntioning the aning of the ergency eting.
It can end with two simple things, first with nothing and that's it but the second option as the worst one, national or state ergency.
"That can't be happening you said and even he said he would just make a announcent!" She shouted at Benjamin.
"Yeah and it's not happening, because it was already held while we were sleeping, Linda." Benjamin said and it just blew Linda's mind.
How the fuck they held a cabinet eting when they are part of the fucking cabinet, it can't even start without the one missing mber and they held it overnight while they were sleeping?
And not just that the fucking cabinet eting requires people who don't even know about this whole operation and the deal with Jas. She couldn't think of anything, like what the fuck is the president trying to do? There are laws he has to follow, laws that even he can't step over… or can he?
"No fucking way…." She whispered as she looked at Benjamin.
"Yeah I thought about the sa, Carter fucking died and what position he was in?
"Vice fucking president…"
"And he died by a terrorist attack which ans our beautiful president can declare national ergency" As Benjamin said it all made sense and also pushed Linda in a state that was like a passive lie he was being a passive player just staring at him.
With ergency declaration if he does that it ans he can also suspend the election, silence the dia and can have the absolute power in his hand. In theory he can't beco a dictator because the congress is legislative but the fucking congress is in his pocket lots of them are in his fucking pocket that's how the corruption works that's how everyone fucking millionaire even billionaires.
"Please if there is a god…"
"Don't worry Linda." Benjamin said as he smiled. "He can't do much because one thing is more powerful than any dictator and president…. the people so don't worry too much he knows the limits that's why it never happened before and it will not happen now too. He might do sothing but he knows where to stop." He said and closed his eyes and leaned back.
She just stared at him. He was too calm about it, too calm but maybe she just imagined sothing that was the worst case scenario.
"I hope because if not… we are fucked."
Yeah, Linda couldn't think of anything anymore like this was on a level she never imagined. It felt like it could be over for Jas too if the president started playing his own cards, cards Linda hadn't even considered for a second.
The bigger picture had been in front of her the whole ti, but she had put so much trust into the president believing he would do everything to stop a full-scale war again in the underworld, a full-scale war with the cartel. But the more she thought about it, the more she realized… it could actually work too.
If he really declared a national ergency, it would an they could tighten the borders, the agency would get more funding, and the law would basically be on their side.
They could do anything in their power to stop the cartel. And anwhile, under the umbrella of the national ergency, Jas could keep doing his work too yeah, because if they cut off the deal they made with him, it would an they stabbed him in the back.
And if that happened… everybody would die.
