"But why would this Darvik call you?" Benjamin's follow-up question was actually a good one, a question that was on everybody's mind because it was just outrageous to even think about and, well, absurd.
First, it truly scread that the governnt is bullshit, not just the governnt but the whole system of the country. The agencies that are there to keep out foreign agencies, to not let them settle in the country, have failed greatly as well. Maraci has agents in the country in great volu, and from that ca the other very good questions.
Why are they in the country to begin with? Since when are they in? What is the goal of Maraci with it?
All of it just once again put the pressure on everything, that they didn't even know they were here, and who knew how many country agencies could be too, just sitting there, fitting in… maybe in the governnt too.
It is a great danger that can cause so many things to go wild, to create chaos… yeah exactly that chaos. That was what frustrated Linda the most, the possibilities.
Of course, it was a great help that Darvik actually used these agents to eliminate cartel targets but, at the sa ti, what would have happened if they used these agents to show the truth about the whole system, of what exactly is happening to the public.
What if they would use them to overthrow the governnt… yeah there were a lot of possibilities with it, but they used it to help them… and that's where Benjamin's question ca into the picture, which was actually an answer to it all… and of course from Darvik.
"Because of Jas." Linda said as she leaned back, still breathing heavily just staring at the ceiling. "Darvik said his na many tis and emphasized that they are friends… maybe this was Jas's plan from the beginning, to et with Darvik and make an alliance with him."
"Impossible." Benjamin imdiately answered to her, and now sothing was different about him, his voice was firr. "I was there with Jas, shit, I was the one who started this whole thing, he got angry about … and he was again truly angry about the whole situation we have created." He said as he kept eye contact with Linda.
"So it is a coincidence?" She asked, she too had this heavy voice still and doubt in her eyes.
"I think it is." Stephen spoke now. "He only went to Maraci to be with his family and Darvik has many connections all around the world, and it is well known that Maraci the whole country is in a shady business with many." He tapped his finger. "In my opinion Jas truly went to relax, have so fun, but Darvik, he took the opportunity to talk with Jas."
"I think the sa." Thomas said. "Sobody like Darvik can know about things that no one, maybe he knew the attack is going to happen, so he made a deal with Jas who of course accepted it, to protect the family." He looked into Linda's eyes. "He gave him what we failed to do."
Exactly, he nailed it… he pieced together everything with Stephen and to be true to them it was understandable and they would have done the sa, but on the contrary it was a great risk to take.
The risk itself, the politics that Jas knows shit about, and even if Linda and the others look and act like fucking gangsters themselves, they are good politicians too, they know how to talk, how to make good opportunities but this… was on an entirely different whole level of politics and they knew it was just the beginning and Maraci will reach out to them to… blackmail…
That is how politics works, that is how life works and it is true that mafia and politicians are the sa, just one of them is illegal.
Maraci will use this whole situation as an opportunity to demand different things, maybe it will be to lift the trade sanctions, lift the sanctions as a whole, and so many deals that only a politician could understand.
And it will not be a national risk but an international one, or more like the Union problem, because nobody deals with Maraci, at least not in public, so if Maraci demands the sanctions to be lifted, it will an that the Union will not just sit around and let it go through… and if it really is going to happen, they will be fucked.
This won't be street-level power or simple intimidation, this will be diplomacy mixed with threats, legal loopholes… thanks to Jas… yeah, without Jas even knowing it or understanding a bit of it Darvik didn't just make a deal with him… he involved the entire fucking governnt, or more like pushed them into it through him.
That's why Linda was nervous about it, because now, they didn't just have to care about their own nation's image, they had to be cautious, calculating, asuring, aligning themselves with interests far beyond what Jas could see. From this point on, every handshake, every word, every "off the record" eting would be a potential trap or a potential advantage, depending on who controls the narrative.. and this ti, Maraci would be in that role.
How bad it is… more like unlucky… no, to be true it is truly Jas's fault not knowing shit about Maraci nor Darvik or what is going on… but it could also be Linda and the others' fault that they didn't even inform Jas about it… or it could be the fault of everyone.
What had started as a simple trip had turned into a web of influence and leverage that spanned the highest political level and the mastermind behind it was Darvik. He orchestrated a chain reaction, using Jas as the vector to pull the governnt.
And now Maraci… they could turn every conversation, every eting, every seemingly casual gesture into leverage.. and the first ti in his life Jas… he was a piece on soone else's ga.
