Silence filled the warehouse as no one said a word after Xavier spoke. Everyone there understood what his words ant.
He had revealed sothing that went far beyond any of them, sothing that showed they had made a serious mistake, one that could destroy everything they built.
How did this happen? How did sothing so big slip past the entire family? Past the people whose job was to check for threats, to make sure the family stayed safe? How did it get past Hector, Ramirez, Finn, and all the high ranking mbers?
It was a mistake so big that it could already have split the family into factions, into pieces. A mistake that could push them toward war, toward chaos and none of them even realized it. No, that wasn’t completely true... one person had noticed. One person had spoken up before and that person was Jas.
But before even Jas, there had been soone else.
Lucian.
Yes, Lucian was the first one to raise his concern to Jas. He warned that the family didn’t have enough quality people, but quantity ones. He said that one day, they would betray the family, not because they were treated badly, but because they wanted more power, more influence.
That is the curse of the mafia, the curse of the underworld itself.
Once soone becos part of a powerful family, once they taste that life at the top, they start craving it. Power becos an addiction, and they want more money, more respect, and more control. They no longer want to be just soldiers or workers, they want to lead, to be feared, to be important. And the worst part is, they learned everything from the very family they ended up betraying.
They learn how the system works, how the drugs are made, how the trade runs, how the selling goes, how the connections are built and with that knowledge, sothing dangerous begins to grow inside them. A small thought, that first sounds like a joke, then it slowly grows into sothing else... a will and greed... that they could start sothing of their own, maybe even do it better.
At first, Jas didn’t believe Lucian’s words. He thought Lucian was exaggerating, worrying too much. Nah actually Jas never believed it would reach the point where that warning would beco real... but fuck it did.
Everything Lucian said ca true and when Jas finally understood that, he raised his own concern to Hector.
Jas knew deep inside that if they ever made a deal with the governnt, things would slowly start to fall apart. People would begin to act out, question orders, and eventually, so of them would leave the family. But what he feared the most, the thing he never even told Hector about, was sothing much bigger than that... the market and the monopoly.
He had spent so much ti watching docuntaries, movies, and cri series. He had read books and news articles about the mafia, about drug cartels, and about the underworld.
Every single one of them said the sa thing in a different way, and Jas understood it clearly.
If one family or one organization ever took full control over the drug market, if they created a monopoly, that was when they were in the greatest danger. When one group controls everything, it becos impossible to keep it all together. The demand for drugs grows larger and larger, and the family can’t produce enough to et it. The buyers want more, the money keeps flowing in, and greed starts to spread like a disease.
Soon, people inside the family start thinking they can do it better on their own. They’ve learned everything from the family and they want their own piece of the market.
One group breaks off, then another, and then another after that.
In ti, what was once one strong and united family turns into many small groups fighting for power. In the end, no one remains from the original family, only the na and the mories of what it used to be.
Every big cartel in history ended the sa way. So were caught and arrested, others were betrayed from the inside, and many were completely wiped out. No matter how powerful they were or how much control they had, their fall always began the sa way the family broke.
One group stopped trusting another, one leader wanted more power, and that small crack was enough to start a war.
And when the war began, the once-great alliance that ruled everything slowly started to destroy itself from within. The glory days of those powerful families, the days when they held the entire market in their hands, always ca to an end. At first, they were feared and respected. They controlled money, drugs, and power, but as ti passed, greed and mistrust poisoned everything and within only a few years, their empire that took decades to build was gone, just like Silas family.
All the work, all the years of building connections, all the blood that was spilled, it all becos aningless when everything collapses. The loyalty, the honor, the trust, the sacrifices, they vanish. When the monopoly falls apart, everything that once made the family strong turns against them. The sa people who once fought side by side start fighting each other.
In the end, all that remains are stories and warnings for the next generation. The nas that once caused fear fade away.
What Jas had read and watched provided an answer, what the bosses and Dons did to stop the cracks and keep control. It was brutal but simple and effective, and Jas had already given an order that followed that rule.
Kill the traitors. Every single one who plotted against the family had to die. Even those who only thought about it had to be killed.
But killing alone was not enough, no, you needed to make examples of them, to show the bodies and plant a seed of fear and terror in people’s minds.
That fear would hold them in place.
