That one handshake ant so much, and neither of them knew it.
From Calo's point of view, he wants to buy the drugs from Jas and sell them at a pumped up price and not just that, he also wants to experint with them a little, see what happens if they are mixed, if they stay stronger. On the other hand, this is Jas' first ever big deal… a deal he knows nothing about, unaware that it will grow into sothing he never expected to handle.
The two of them, in that mont as they shook hands, changed the history of drug trafficking, changed the history of how fast, how efficiently soone can produce drugs and sell it through the whole continent.
And the only one that knew about it was, of course, Darvik himself.
He had seen many deals like this, and he had initiated many deals like this, because this was how Maraci kept going, this was how Maraci earned billions each year from the drug lords. With this deal, it worked out for him as well, the money would flow into Maraci, and from there he would take his cut. Not only that, but deals like this worked for everyone in Maraci. For the civilians, for the drug lords, for the elites, for literally everyone as it boosted the economy even more, and that was exactly why he couldn't stop smiling, because he knew what all of it ant.
Darvik knew what Jas' pure white magic would do.
It would get everyone under its spell once they tasted it, once they tried it, and the craving for it ca from how it reminded them of the old days.
The old days when White Magic was first discovered, when it first started selling… when people sold it… pure. Every gram was untouched, not a single bit of chemicals mixed into it, and the feeling it gave, that boost, was everything. The top elites and even ordinary civilians used it just to get through the day… not to ntion the parties.
It beca the most wanted drug among almost everyone, not because it caused heavy addiction but because it gave people a strange and warm boost to life, a gentle feeling that they were escaping from the world for a mont, and a small taste of power that made their days feel lighter even if only for a short ti… however, the people who produced it and the people who sold it soon realized sothing much bigger, sothing that changed the entire market, because they realized that they were leaving millions behind by keeping the drug pure, and slowly the sa question began to rise in all of their minds, a question that would reshape everything.
Why should I sell one kilo of the pure drug when I can mix it with cheap chemicals, turn it into five kilos, and sell all of it for the sa price as the pure one?
The answer was simple, and once they understood it, the world changed, because it was not just a sudden boom, but mountain made of diamonds, and soon the money began to flow… first millions, then billions as people rushed to buy the mixed version, the cheaper version, the version that promised the sa escape.
But with all that money ca the darkness they tried to ignore, because the chemicals used to mix it were not clean, and they caused addiction, health problems, and slow damage that could not be seen at first, and as more people fell into that trap, a new market opened…a market with two worlds inside one product.
On one side, the sellers offered the pure drug at unbelievable prices, knowing that the people who wanted the pure version would always buy it no matter how expensive it beca and on the other side, they pushed the mixed version toward those who could not afford the pure one, a crowd so large that they kept the entire system running, and even today that is still how things work, two products, two kinds of custors, one river of money that never stops.
But now a new player appeared, soone unlike all the others, soone who didn't care about the usual rules, the profit calculations, or how much he might lose by refusing to mix his product. Soone who moved as if he belonged to a different world.
That man is Jas Bellini… at least, that is how people see him, because his product was the purest of the pure, untouched by anything, and without planning it, without forcing it, he beca the one who filled the empty space, the space for people who wanted only the true version, untouched, clean, and powerful.
And for Darvik, that was why he couldn't control his smile… the amount of money that was in front of his eyes, the amount of money that Jas presented in front of him was just an unbelievable amount… and of course, the white magic was still in him, tweaking him out.
"Can I ask you sothing, Calo?" Jas said, sothing bigger than the deal on his mind… survival. And he was sitting in front of soone like Calo.
"Of course, ask whatever you want." He replied to Jas very calmly, not once acting like a cartel leader, though Jas knew he could be far worse than anyone could even imagine.
"You said you work with the governnt too, just like … but how do you make sure to keep the line between you and them? How do you make sure they don't turn against you?" Jas's question might have been the greatest he could ask, and it even shocked Calo a little… it showed him that Jas was truly intelligent and aid to play at a higher level.
"I like you even more." Calo laughed. "But to answer your question… think of them as a chessboard, and you're the one controlling the pieces." Calo answered Jas, but in that mont, sothing in him shifted.
Suddenly, Jas felt it, sitting in front of him was soone truly powerful, soone on a completely different level, from another dinsion of force and darkness entirely beyond him.
"You know, my country is a poor one, very poor. It has always been poor, and that's why there were always cartel wars and so on." He leaned forward, placing his hand on the table as he stared at Jas. "So first, I killed everyone to make sure I was the only one at the top… and then I pushed the limits of what a drug lord is capable of."
"And what would that be?" Jas asked back, keeping his eyes locked on Calo. He didn't even glance away, didn't even blink, not wanting to show any weakness because he knew that even if Calo was friendly, he couldn't let himself feel calm… but then his answer just made everything… more absurd and unbelievable.
"I bought all of the state's banks."
W-what the… fuck. In that mont, Jas couldn't hold it in, the confusion and sheer unbelievable aning of what Calo had said were written all over his face, and even on Mike's, as he tried to comprehend what the hell Calo had just told them.
"Haha, people usually react like that." He laughed at Jas and Mike. "But it's true—I did buy it all."
"How is that even possible…?" Mike was the one who asked the question as he truly got shocked by it… as there is no way sobody can buy the fucking banks… state owned ones.
"Well, my country used to be the murder capital of the world. It was at the top of the starvation list, the top of the unemploynt list, and the cartel wars didn't help either. So when I killed everyone, the governnt reached out to for help."
"They reached out?" Mike asked, still dumbfounded by it.
"Yeah, they reached out so I could help them, otherwise it would've been an economic disaster. So I bought five banks and pumped my own money back into the economy."
It just got more and more unbelievable with every word he said… What the fuck did he an he bought all the banks and pumped his own money back into the economy…
"You beco their hope." Jas whispered.
"Oh, no, no, Jas" He shook his head with a grin. "I didn't beco their hope… more like their ticking bomb." He giggled as he said it, but not even for a mont did he take his eyes off Jas.
"What do you an by that?" Jas imdiately passed back but it was clear that Calo was different.
"Hope doesn't work on people who don't even know what it is. And I'm a terrible person who kills anyone who offends … I simply have zero regret for human life, and that's why I helped the governnt."
Yeah… that change in Calo Jas felt a mont ago was real… and now it was showing… showing what put him into the top ten list.
"It made untouchable. If the governnt even tries to push , if they try to arrest or take back what I bought, then the economy collapses right there on the spot. People's money freezes, salaries stop, pensions stop, business loans vanish, and the entire country goes down screaming. And when a country screams, it doesn't scream alone, it drags millions of people with it."
