While others were helping people, clearing rubble, pulling out survivors, cooking food, or mourning their loved ones, Benjamin was on the complete opposite side of it all.

Instead of helping, he was killing, or at the very least planning to kill.

"I thought this was the most secure prison in the entire country." Benjamin began as he stood on the small hill where a guard post had been before the earthquake struck looking down at the prison itself. "So how does an earthquake suddenly let those fuckers take over?"

Indeed, Benjamin knew it well as he stood in front of the well-known Harmin Prison, the prison that held death row inmates and was considered one of the most secure facilities outside the capital city, but now it had been taken over by those fuckers inside.

"Well... sir." The prison director began."The power went out imdiately when the earthquake hit, and the backup generators didn’t start and with it the cell locks failed." He glanced at Benjamin. "The guards tried to operate them manually, but by the ti they reached the control points, the inmates had already left their cells."

"Then why didn’t the guards just shoot them?" Benjamin’s voice ca again, though he seed bored a bit, but the director knew that every answer he gave could make things worse for him, but he still answered.

"Sir... it was... chaos. Absolute chaos. So guards were overpowered, beaten, even killed. Others had their weapons taken by the inmates. A few were evacuated in ti, but the main gates couldn’t be secured. By the ti anyone tried, the inmates had already spread through the facility."

"But you." Benjamin said slowly. "You and your guards... you swore an oath. You are paid, trained, and tasked to keep this prison safe, aren’t you? Did that oath an anything? Did it matter at all?"

Silence as the director knew the answer as clearly as Benjamin did. He had abandoned his post the mont everything went wrong. He and his n had been trained for disasters, fires, riots, even natural disasters but when it ca, instinct had overpowered duty.

They had left the prison, leaving it in the hands of the very people they were ant to control.

"Forget about the oath, forget about your n, forget about all that." He said, as turned toward the director. "Tell what weapons they have. What could the inmates possibly get their hands on?"

"Automatic rifles, bulletproof vests, pistols, tear gas, and a significant amount of ammunition." He said, avoiding Benjamin’s gaze. "I... I’m sure they accessed everything. All four hundred inmates are ard now."

"Well," Benjamin said as he turned toward the prison director, his expression unreadable. "You are dismissed from your position, and you are going to be arrested, so do you have any last words?"

The director said nothing. He only lowered his head and slowly shook it, as if he already knew there was nothing he could say that would matter anymore. No excuse would save him, no explanation would undo what had happened.

With that, one of the agents stepped forward, pulled his hands behind his back, cuffed him, and led him away without another word.

It was honestly surprising. Benjamin could have shot him right there, and everyone standing around knew it. Under different circumstances, with a different Benjamin, maybe he would have. But he did not even reach for his weapon. He just stood there, staring toward the prison walls like his mind was sowhere else.

"So what’s the plan?" Another agent asked as he walked up beside Benjamin. He was one of the commanders of the unit, an older man nad David who had worked with Benjamin long enough to notice when sothing was wrong.

"Good question." Benjamin muttered as he looked back toward the prison. "There are four hundred inmates in there, all of them are death row prisoners, and now they have weapons, maybe even hostages if they managed to grab so guards before they escaped." He turned toward David. "Did we receive anything from higher-ups? Any orders? Any suggestions?" Benjamin asked, because in truth he had only been told to get there and deal with it.

"Nothing." David replied. "Well... not really. They just said to make sure we handle it before it gets worse." He paused for a mont before speaking again. "But is there a problem?"

"Problem?" Benjamin looked back at him, confused. "What do you an?"

David hesitated for a second, because even he was not fully sure how to explain it. Benjamin was acting strangely. He was quieter than usual, slower, less aggressive.

But now he was just staring at the walls.

"You seem a little... disconnected." David finally said.

"Oh, that’s my bad." Benjamin began. "I mixed up my pills this morning and ended up taking a sedative instead and now I feel like an empty shell, like I’m walking around without emotions or sothing." He glanced toward David. "I don’t even know what kind of sedative that was, but it hit hard." He giggled at himself. "But none of that matters right now," He looked back toward the prison walls. "We still need to handle this situation."

"It really hit you hard." David laughed. "But yeah, we need to deal with this, so what’s the plan? Should we warn them first, or maybe order them to co out and surrender?"

"No."

Sothing changed the mont that single word left Benjamin’s mouth. It was like the real Benjamin had finally returned, and David noticed it imdiately. That coldness in his eyes and the way his voice ca. "They know exactly what they’ve done." Benjamin said as he looked toward the prison."All four hundred of them know they are already on death row, which ans that the mont they took over this prison, killed guards, and ard themselves, they made it clear they were never planning to surrender, and in doing so they turned their death sentences into imdiate executions." A faint smile appeared on his face as he turned back toward David. "So we’re going to handle their execution."
